Sticky Mango is a fine dining restaurant that draws its culinary inspiration from the vibrant flavors of South-East Asia. This location opened recently near Tower Bridge in August of 2023 and the decor inside is modern Asian with blossom trees inside that give the vibe that you are in the far east. A quote from Anthony Bourdain adorns the floor at the entrance: "Your body is not a temple, it's an amusement park. Enjoy the ride!". Several of the dishes here included table theater which was a nice touch, and I captured some of that in video. Here are the dishes my group tried:
Soft shell crab steam bun (£6.50 = $8.13 USD) - The meal began with a sumptuous steamed bun filled with tempura soft shell crab, Asian slaw, and sriracha aioli, a tantalizing combination of flavors and textures that set the tone for the rest of the feast.
Chicken & Shrimp nam rolls (£9.50 = $11.88 USD) - These golden brown rolls are filled with succulent chicken and shrimp, perfectly seasoned and deep-fried to perfection.
Wok fried monkfish (£20 = $25 USD) - Succulent medallions of monkfish were wok-tossed in a fiery Malaysian chili sauce with sautéed bok choy and delicate apple blossoms, creating a flavor sensation that was truly unforgettable.
Mamak BBQ chicken (£18.75 = $23.44 USD) - A perfectly deboned and marinated chicken breast was presented with charred long beans and a pickled red onion salad, its juicy and tender flesh a testament to the chef's skill.
Truffle egg fried rice (£9 = $11.25 USD) - Our server expertly chopped up the fried egg in front of us, revealing the decadent truffle rice with leeks underneath.
Sticky Mango (£8 = $10 USD) - A stunning presentation of black sticky rice, mango sorbet, and candy floss, all topped with a warm coconut cream sauce that melted the floss away to reveal the delicious sorbet and rice below. While the black sticky rice was not to my taste, the overall dish was a delight to behold.
Pandan Macaron (£8 = $10 USD) - A towering pandan macaron, its delicate outer shell yielding to a soft and chewy interior, perfectly complemented by a scoop of soy sauce caramel ice cream. A delightful and unexpected pairing of flavors and textures.
Latte (£3 = $3.75 USD) - To my surprise, the latte at this Asian fusion restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. Silky smooth and rich in flavor, it was a perfect complement to my meal.
Overall I was thoroughly impressed with the food, ambiance, and service at this restaurant. The Asian fusion cuisine was creative and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a unique and memorable dining experience. Al fresco dining with breathtaking views of Tower Bridge is also available here. read more
