Can I start by saying I have had BBQ in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Port Allen and..... Man!! This is some of the BEST bbq I have had during my stay in Louisiana. My 2 day old leftovers tasted like it just came out of the smoker. The beef brisket was cooked to perfection. The meat to fat ratio was perfect, it was moist and juicy and sliced thick enough to enjoy. Other places I have been to made me pick from chopped or moist beef and neither was good but this is how brisket should be prepared and served, thank you. The smoked sausage has a flavor between kielbasa and double d sausage. I am not a fan of Manda (which seems to be popular here) and am unsure if these were them, but they were good. The bbq sauce was good too and we tasted both flavors. If I could suggest a bbq sauce with some heat, would've taken my experience to a whole other level, but they both had a nice flavor. One was tangy and the other thicker and sweet.... nice. For our sides, we had greens and Mac and cheese and both were well seasoned and tasty. Lastly..... about that darn sweet buttery warm roll, OMG was it good! I will definitely recommend this place to my family and friends. read more

A few weeks ago my family discovered Sticks 'n Bones Bar-B-Que on yelp and decided to give it a try. Walked in around 11:15 am on a Saturday and we were the only customers in their, instantly I thought crap, this place isn't going to be any good. We sit down, start looking at the menus, which were paper menus covered in BBQ sauce from previous customers. That was a nice touch. As I was browsing the menu I saw the typical BBQ items: ribs, chicken, pulled pork etc and then waiter tells us about the specials for the day. The first special was the burnt ends meat pies! Well let's just say I ignored everything else he said because in that moment that's all I wanted to eat! So as we waited for our main courses to arrive, we had ordered the chili cheese fries as an appetizer to hold over the 4 kids, and well me really because I was starving. Holy cow the chili cheese fries were a meal in themselves! They were freaking fantastic! I had never see my kids or my wife attack a basket of fries like they had that day! We'll definitely be ordering those again! And then the waiter arrive with the main course, the burnt ends meat pies! They were more than I could have ever imagined from the perfectly fried pie crust to the extra cheesy burnt ends filling inside the crust. These meat pies were to die for! My wife ordered the pulled pork sand which, I imagine she liked it, by the time I looked up from finishing my food it was gone hahaha! We will definitely be going back soon! read more

The meats were dry, small portions, hunks of fat, and bbq sauce tasted like it was store bought.

My husband and I love this barbecue restaurant in Mandeville. The service, especially Ridgelee, is always so friendly and attentive. The food comes out hot and quick. The smoked wings with the jalapeño mango sauce are one of our favorites as well as the brisket chili and even better with adding macaroni to the brisket chili! Had a LUDICROUS experience!! Called to do take out and was told I could not order 2lbs on sliced brisket. The menu lists prices by the pound but apparently not in this case. It's not like I was asking for 20lbs. Funny if I wanted 4 Brisket Plates with Sides that was available but not straight Meat by the pound. This is a BBQ business. If I ordered salmon and u don't have I understand but Brisket? If you can't produce enough of risk producing enough why be in business. I've had good and bad from them in the past. The absolute best BBQ in the area. Pulled pork is probably the best thing here. The sides are incredible- homemade fries, coleslaw, baked beans (made with brisket!), collard greens, and Mac and cheese are among my favorites. They have a sweet and a tangier vinegar sauce. Both are very tasty. This is a more casual spot, but always has a good vibe to it. The prices aren't bad either. Can't say enough good things about this place. You must try it! read more

Oh man! Just noticed this place a few weeks ago. I have no idea how long they have been here but we paid them a visit for the first time today. They have a pretty simple menu. Typical BBQ. Ribs, Pulled pork, chicken, brisket, sausage, etc., and sides. I had the pulled pork plate which comes with two sides and Texas toast. I chose mac-n-cheese and baked beans. Man on Man! Everything was delicious! The sauce was the most. That means way beyond delicious. lol Best BBQ and sides I have had anywhere around. The beans are incredible, and the mac-n-cheese is actually cheesy and so good! The waitress was friendly. Fast service as well. Once she took our order, it seemed like only 2 or 3 minutes and we had our food. I was shocked. I'll definitely be a regular here. read more

Solid BBQ joint. Ordered the Lil' Smokey (2 meats & 2 sides). Got the brisket and ribs with mac & cheese and baked beans. The brisket was tender and tasty. The ribs are not the "fall off the bone" ribs but they do have a nice smokey flavor. The mac & cheese was very good and the baked beans were delicious. Oh yeah. They offer two BBQ sauces: a sweet sauce (traditional) and a vinegar base spicy sauce. Enjoyed both sauces. Finally a solid BBQ joint in Mandeville. Will be returning. read more

Honestly, it's about damned time. I feel like I've been lamenting a lack of decent barbecue in and around New Orleans for decades. Last weekend we were on the North Shore for Strawberry Festival and stopped by Sticks N Bones and it couldn't have been better. Just based on what we were smelling while reviewing the menu we massively over-ordered to make sure we went home with a couple of boxes of leftovers. As far as meats go, we had the ribs, sliced brisket, smoked sausage, pulled pork, and chicken wings. All was cooked to perfection - tender, juicy, with tons of flavor without ever seeming over-salted. The taste was driven by the meat itself, as it should be, on a bed of smoke flavor that was present but never got in the way. That can only happen when the pitmaster pays close attention to the moisture of the wood - too dry and this much smoke flavor would have risked coming off too sharp, but as it was the balance was spot-on for everything and added a ton of flavor. When I go to a barbecue place I expect great meat, but also stellar apps and sides, and am often surprised at how many places end up nailing one and not the other. SnB nails them both. We ordered potato skins, mac-n-cheese, potato salad, slaw, beans, and french fries. Looking at that list I'm embarrassed at how many sides we ordered. Hard to believe that there are three or four more that we couldn't get to (looking forward to next time!). All of these were fantastic, with the potato skins earning a special mention. Not your average bar skins, these things were heaped with pulled pork, slaw, and cheese and went fast. Also, with all that was hitting the table we pretty much ignored my son's fries until things were winding down, but these turned out to be some of the best fries I've had anywhere. What else is there to say? Great beer selection, the sauces were fantastic, and the service was prompt and very friendly. It was bustling but we didn't have to wait for a seat. We had the pleasure of talking to the owners, who clearly care a lot about the place and know a ton about great food and how to get it to the table. I would recommend this place to anyone and look forward to our next round. Well worth a trip across the lake for anyone in NOLA. P.S. Those leftovers we brought back never made it to the fridge. Finally found good BBQ on the Northshore. If you're from Hammond you know there isn't good BBQ there either (you'll have to move north in Tangipahoa toward MS) so it's worth the drive out to Mandeville. Sticks 'N Bones is Texas style so I found their strength to be in the brisket and chicken. Everything on the menu is made in-house. House sauce is good though I tend to lean toward the dry rub. Lunch today was chicken wings and fries. The menu said smoked wings, which I assumed was just that. When my co-worker called in the order, they asked her wet or dry. She said that she thought everything is better wet so she told them wet. I agree and would have made that choice myself. What they failed to mention was that the "wet" meant sauce from the firey pits of hell! OMG! I only ate 2 wings and had to give up. They were super spicy. I don't mind a little bit when I am expecting it but this was too much. The fries were really good. Homemade, skin still on, seasoned well, cooked golden brown. And like Chef Ann says "Brown food tastes good!". I was a little aggravated that everyone in our office ordered drinks and they didn't send them. 6 total, not sent. My husband and I absolutely love this joint! We agree that it is, by far, the best BBQ on the Northshore. We always order at least half a dozen of the smoked wings without sauce, and they never disappoint. The chopped brisket is always smoky and tender. The pulled pork is also delicious and never mushy. The smoked sausage is flavorful and the skin is a great texture. The ribs are also awesome, but FYI, they are not wet. The sides are also delicious. I'm a sucker for the French fries, which are always crispy and seasoned. I also thoroughly enjoy the baked beans. My husband loves the mac and cheese--and I normally am not a mac person, but I actually like it here! The servers are always nice and friendly. Though there is usually only one server, so it can be a bit slow if the place is busy. read more

Very disappointed in my visit today. The lady at the front counter rushed me to order, and once I received my food it tasted old/cold. I followed up with the restaurant to share my experience-not because I wanted it replaced or even my money back, but because I really enjoyed eating here. First time my wife and I come to this place and we ordered fried Jalapeños. They where good but, it was too large for the two of us and we couldn't finish it. My suggestion is maybe offer two different sizes. Then we each ordered the Brisket dinner plate and WOW! That was delicious. The meat was tender and well seasoned. I had it with the slaw and natural fries. My wife had salad and fries with hers. Poor thing couldn't finished it. I downed it with a couple of Abita Boot beers. I have friends who drive from the Metairie, New Orleans and even the West Bank just to come here. They all agree "It is worth the drive" and they come back frequently for it. Finally we have an awesome BBQ place in Mandeville! Started with the pulled pork, pimento cheese potato skins topped with a perfect complimentary creamy slaw. Such a great appetizer, I don't think I'll ever be able to order anything else regardless of the insane amount of leftovers we had. I had the smoked sausage and the chopped brisket combo plate with the mac n cheese. Absolutely amazing! The sausage was cooked to a juicy, smoky perfection. The brisket had a great flavor I didn't even add much BBQ sauce. Oh and the mac was soooo creamy, cheesy and divine. The service was great and personable. We can't wait to go back! Tip: We went close to 7:30, so we will definitely have to go back during lunch next time. They prepare all their meats and sides fresh every day, so by the end of the day they may be out of their most popular meats (sliced brisket and the ribs). read more
