My wife and son recently went to Stew Leonard's and loved it. The workers are so nice and friendly, and the bathroom was clean. Everything was fresh and the produce looked fantastic. If we had one wish about Stew Leonard's it would be that we wish they carried more kosher products. Everything else was wonderful. read more

I went to the new Stew Leonards in Paramus Park and I must say it wasnt a pleasant experience! The store is way to loud and when you walk in, you dont know where to go. It is set up very weird almost like an unorganized feeling. The prices were good but definitely didn't care for the atmosphere. The girl at the register was the most pleasant out of my whole trip! Dont think I will be going back, sorry!! read more

This review is for the burger bar. The combo seems reasonably priced and I don't mind waiting 8-10 mins when it's made to order. What I can't stand is a mistake ( no cheese ) and they added cheese to my order for 2. So the other meal is getting cold while I am waiting another 5+ minutes for the refire. I am sure next time it will be great but just a honest first time review. In the end it was a tasty burger, needs little more seasoning read more

Worth the trip! Make sure to bring a thermal bag as you always seem to find cold items that you want!

I grew up going to Stew's Supermarkets in Connecticut. This location is way newer and even better! The hot food bar is awesome and fresh also. read more

Love Stew's! So glad they came to Paramus; I missed them after we left Norwalk to come back to New Jersey. I'm a long-time Wegman's shopper (1986), and while Stew's doesn't carry a full supermarket inventory, they're still a contender for a good chunk of my monthly grocery budget and I am glad they're back to being part of my grocery shopping routine. A couple of quick notes for people new to Stew's: - yes, they want you to follow the walking route all through the store BUT there are ample cut-throughs for when you just want to grab a few things and go - they're not going to be a "one and done" visit to satisfy all your supermarket needs; while that means multiple stops on shopping day, the benefit to me has been that they do well with what they're good at, and I'm glad for that - don't over-index on "organic" labels - just look at the goods! I can't recall if I saw it in Paramus, but in Norwalk and Danbury they have live video feeds from some of the farms they do business with. Remember that "organic" is just a proxy for "food grown well" but the business of labeling, fee-based endorsements, and least-effort compliance monitoring. Instead, just use your eyes! read more

Drove an hour to shop here. Great selection of prepared foods, produce, meats, dairy, wine and liquors.

Welcome to Paramus. Hope you make it but we don't see how. Familiar with original store so knew the maze layout which is actually improved here. However we saw nothing to bring us back. Prices were eye popping. We are foodies and cook at home a lot. This appears to be for people who want pre made prepared food. Found it odd that a store that started out as a dairy store not only didn't carry kefir but the dairy employee had never heard of it. Even when I explained liquid yogurt? Ah no. For the prices on sushi. You might as well go to a Japanese restaurant. Tried chicken wings. So so. Tough and overly sweet. Lobster bisque was Pretty good. Much rather prefer Fairway and Stop and Shop. Can't imagine what their niche will be in competitive Bergen Cpunty. read more

Very disappointed. This was my first visit to a Stew Leonard's. With 'Farm Fresh' in mind I expected wholesome, healthy, environmentally friendly. There was so much plastic and gaudy tacky theme park style decor. So much food was packaged in plastic and everyone was bagging their groceries in plastic bags. Not a pleasant experience. read more

Great place for some holiday grocery shopping . There is a section for all the food groups. Great liquor selection and nice $2 medium iced coffee. They also have some dog treats. Big parking lot. It's part of paramus park mall. read more

I went to this Stew Leonards store and was totally disappointed. Food bar is expensive 8.99 a pound and the food looks like a box was opened and put in a tray on display. Had the mozzarella sticks they were cold and not cooked. The kettle chips were dripping in oil. The salad bar did not have a large selection that was also 8.99 a pound. The bread I bought was very heavy and gummy. The prepared foods were also expensive. 13.00 for prepared mashed potatoes...think not. Meatballs 17.00. I also bought muffins. Not good either. Stop and shop has much better muffins. The coffee cake was not good either. Someone poured on the powdered sugar. Will not be returning to this store. Not worth the trip at all. read more

First impression: Unbelievable! I couldn't believe my ears or eyes! There is a great wide variety of food out there! Not to mention, every corner you turn, there are animatronics singing and plushies doing tumbles! It's amazing! The best part about the place is that it's open on Sunday! You can get your food any day you want! I'm totally coming back! read more

Lobster rolls are the best here!!!! Also- family salads are delish and good for at least 3 people.

I recently returned to this store after a hiatus of several years. The food and groceries did not disappoint; in fact, I found even more great choices in bakery and prepared foods. Their flavored coffees are top notch. Dairy products excellent. Breads...almost too many choices. Tried for the first time a croissant baked with spinach and cheese. I used to get the coconut shrimp, this time tried the grilled version...A+ and really, all seafood is terrific. Lots of pasta choices as well, both packaged and prepared. We tried the eggplant parmigiana which was delicious. I would say, though, that the produce is just average and the prices have gone up. But I will absolutely return for those products that are unique to this store. And I will return on a weekday - going on a Saturday was way too crowded, particularly these days. read more

The last time I went to Stew Leonard's was in 2005 in Westchester County. I was so happy to hear they opened one up in Paramus. When I went here, I was very happy. It was easy maneuvering you way through although some people were going the wrong way which made it a little congested in the aisles. I found everything was quite easy to find. I really liked their seafood, deli, and food court sections. Waiting in line to pay is never long as they have many registers open and the cashiers are quite friendly and helpful. read more

Great shopping experience. Love the fresh meats and seafood. Stew Leonard's had good sales too.

We were so happy when Stew Leonard's opened so close to home. My fiancé couldn't wait as we used to go to the Yonkers or Norwalk store whenever ever were in that area. Great dairy prices especially for the milk. Love the meat sales too! read more

Absolutely great place! The quality of everything is wonderful and so is the customer service! My only qualm is the store layout. It does feel like quite the maze. read more

Anyone who leaves a review of the store layout clearly has never been to Stew Leonard's before. This store is great! I have been to 5 different Stew Leonard's locations and the new Paramus store is clean, big and yes, packed with customers (as it should be). All Stew Leonard's stores are designed like a maze with animatronics for kids to watch and sing along with. It's the reason parents bring their kids with them here, because it's fun for the kids too. Sure the store may take a little longer to get through, but the food is fresh and they have a lot of options. This isn't a traditional grocery store and they aren't trying to be, so stop comparing them to your local store that has every processed food you can think. Stews is fresh food, quality meat selections, affordable produce and not a lot of junk food. There are things you can't find here, but what they do have is always fresh and delicious, much of which are made in store. Lastly, just like at every Stew Leonard's store you go to, every employee is friendly and willing to help. What more can you ask for. I will continue to shop at Stews, it has been my favorite grocery store since I was a kid. read more

I loved this interactive display! I must say this one is my favorite throughout the numerous displays all around the store. The store is super kid friendly and entertains most adults too. The store design and set-up is easy to follow. Everything seems fresh and customer service is super friendly. read more

Stew Leonard’s - Paramus Park Mall - Cute "Avocado Girls" singing interactive display!! - Grocery Near Me - Paramus, New Jersey

Our first visit will be our last visit. Prices were high, quality was non existent. Bakery products were awful. Supermarket pies are not great, but theirs are terrible. Same was true for donuts. Their store brand of deli was worse than tasteless. Prices are higher than supermarkets. Even produce was overpriced. Plus the store is annoyingly noisy. We threw out nearly everything. Very disappointed. read more

Have been going there at least once a week. Today, I was surprised to hear about the ten cent charge for a bag. I carried my groceries out refusing to pay for a bag. I came home, looked up this information online and found out that Stew Leonard has the option to offer paper bags, but obviously chose not to do that for their customers. Disappointing! Not so sure I'll make the trip back. read more

Welp, unimpressed. I've been to the one in Connecticut and knew what to expect with the crowed maze aisles (was not thrilled about that) and an awful design concept in my book, but my boyfriend never been and wanted to check it out. Nothing totally popped out at us but we decided to get the queso and guacamole. Both were totally good. My brother enjoyed the queso so much, he asked to go back the next day to get more. Well, we were disappointment when we got there....they didn't have any on the shelf...so we asked an employee.... she said they would have more by Wednesday at noon. Ok whatever. So we decided to try their cannolis. The lady informed us that they were 10 for 9.99$ cool! What a steal! ...well, when we get to the register.... they rang up for $15!! Ugh Now, Wednesday 3pm.... go back to get the queso. Someone was packing the shelf, I was like oh great good sign. Ask her if there was queso, she said, rudely, no. So I told her we were told there would be more by noon and that it is 3pm and she goes "well I haven't gotten to it yet, I need to package it." K great. Overall; Rude service, overpriced items, and not consistent. read more

Overall, I like this store. My problem is with the ready made hamburgers. I just bought the chuck burgers because I generally like a coarser meat for burgers. They were made with the worst meat I've ever eaten. I couldn't eat my second one. Straight into the garbage. Reminded me of stories of Cuban mop-meat where Cubans would shred mops, add spices and use it as meat. If they just labeled it "bistec de colcha de trapear", they'd be OK. read more

Cashiers don't seem like the friendliest people - more like robots. I guess that is better than having mean cashiers. Lobster roll was very fresh, generous, and flavorful. In the hot food section I came across some rice (indian food section) that smelled spoiled. Stupidly I took some anyway thinking it might have been coming from somewhere else. Had a taste and it was def spoiled. I should have said something to mgmt but was with a small child and did not have the time or the energy. I just threw it out. Wings are always fresh. Hope they be consistent like that with the other buffet stuff. read more

Given the advance hype about this supermarket chain, we decided to venture a visit. The shopping experience was absolutely dreadful. Why play the music at decibel levels that could break your eardrums? Why put out soggy stale produce--the limp lettuces looked more than a week old. The famous mechanical figures strewn throughout the store are amusing at first but grow to be too much after a while. Throw in the overpricing and it's easy to find other supermarkets in the area which was become home to an ever increasing number of food emporiums that offer better value, this place is a loser in all respects! read more

We heard a lot about this chain and must say the store is impressive. Many of the items we purchased, however, were tasteless and even off tasting. Marble pound cake bitter and tasteless, house made mozzarella going sour, meatloaf, hard as a rock, just awful. We saved no leftovers. We still have a couple more things to try, but at this point would not recommend especially dealing with the Rte. 17 traffic to get to the store. read more

First time at this Stew Leonard's! It was fun but very crowded. It's a new store so people came to check it out. It's an adventure. Fun for kids if it wasn't so crowded. The anamatronic cows and chickens were so funny. The selection was good for a salad bar and a hot and cold food buffet. I would say to come here for fun and a bite to eat, but I wouldn't do my regular food shopping here. read more

Great store to take your kids however it traps you like ikea and the prices are nothing to brag about.

I love this supermarke especially the prepared food section, the animated characters, the produce section & all.

If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing and easy shopping experience, then this is not the place for you. The feel of this place is very similar to Wegman's woody kind of "inside a barn" feel, very large, very very loud, hard to navigate because of the one way aisle system, and totally draining, with huge numbers of people. To me this is shopping hell, and I can't be any kinder. The noise level and chaos is what totally put me off this shop. It's kind of a cross between Disneyland and a Supermarket, with added cow noises from all the animatronics. I guess if you have young kids they will love it, because they can press buttons to make the cows moo and birds squawk. As for the produce, well, it has a good selection of wines, from different countries. Beer buffs, hmm, the selection is not nearly as good as the wine selection, I find Bottle King much better in this respect. As for the food section, the veges are all fresh and there's a good selection, just like most supermarkets, but not much organically grown stuff. The bakery was ok, nothing exciting here, all the standard stuff you find in supermarkets. The meat is excellent though, fresh and with a large variety of cuts and beef, lamb and pork in abundance, with good prices too, and some cuts I haven't seen in most supermarkets, although a distinct absence of Blade steak. Fish, was surprisingly fresh and sold at great prices too, I found some really fresh salmon. When I go into the seafood section of a supermarket I always smell the air, and if I smell stale fish I don't even bother looking. Stew Leonard's had a very fresh clean smell, nothing stale, so well worth checking out their seafood. Chicken was excellent as well, with a wide selection of antibiotic and hormone free chicken cuts, at very good prices. The Cheeses, and dairy section was pretty standard, and they have a grocery section but most other supermarkets are much better in this area. The cooked hot food, looked good, and there's lots to buy there from sushi, to hot foods of all types as well as salads. I didn't try any as I prefer to cook, but if you're after a quick meal it looks like there's a good selection there. The products were good, but the only thing I would go there for is the fish, meat and poultry. The rest I can find in other places closer to home at better prices and with a better selection. But do yourself a favor and take a good pair of noise cancelling headphones with you, with some slow relaxing music to calm your shattered nerves, or else some death metal to help you do battle with the hoards of people you'll encounter. read more

This is the second time I went to Stew Leonard's and the last.. the 1st time the cashier placed my teriyaki salmon sideways in the bag ruining everything in my bag.. This time I didn't bring my reusable bags and they supplied the worst paper bags I've ever used.. on all 4 of the bags the handle came off now most of my groceries are on the streets of White plains ... that's over 200 In 2 visits that have been ruined read more

I have serious concerns about the amount of people that were in this location and if they should be allowed to continue to operate. No one was controlling the front door, and once inside you realize quickly how packed you all are together. It was the first time during the health crisis that I felt unsafe, and judging by the comments and reactions of fellow shoppers I was not alone. I went to CS desk to report and a smug employee named Dan said "there are plenty of other places to shop". A more responsible employee took action and they added someone out front but damage done. Clearly there is little concern for health of clients and workers. I plan to follow up with a NJ health dept complaint. Just my opinion but consider staying away if you value your health. Visit was at 4:20 PM on 05/09/2020. read more

Overall interesting place to shop. Fresh food is well prepared and a big selection. Liquor department is large as well. All in all a bit pricey however. Had a huge issue with bakery department though..mis labeled cookies that did not indicate they had nuts in them, when they clearly did. Need to be more careful read more

So I was pretty excited to try this place out. Its super close to my job and I could go during lunch. Upon entry the place looks amazing so many different stations and things to see. I was really impressed at first, I proceeded to the back to check out the hot food buffet section. My co-worker and I decided on the Asian hot buffet, let me say that all the hot food as well as salad bar are 8.99 per pound. So I selected a few items, orange chicken, fried rice and the Singapore noodles. I get up to check out it was like 17.00 dollars I was a bit shell shocked but I hoped that because of the stores reputation it would be worth it. I get back to work and it was horrific, completely inedible. It was so salty you couldn't taste anything else. Second attempt I tried the Italian food section. I got penne with sauce and a meatball, ugh that was beyond disgusting as well, not to mention it wasn't even warm. I had to reheat it at the office. 3rd attempt I tried the burger barn I ordered a bacon cheese burger combo. I also picked up some wings. I get back to the office and I open up the burger box and what do I find.. my burger topped with raw bacon. that's right white greasy uncooked bacon. How appetizing... I sent a message to Stew Leonards via their website and have not received a response yet, so their customer service is obviously as lousy as their food. The baked goods looked great but what I tried was just ok. The deli counter was great, cold cuts cut to order they were boars head and really good. The fresh mozzarella was good too. The flower selection was beautiful. Overall this place is just ok. I will take shop rite over this place any day of the week. Its way overpriced for underwhelming items. read more

Do not see why people think this store is so great. I was not crazy about the layout of the store and the strong smell of fried food. After spending approximately 20 minutes winding around in the store I bought my so called never frozen fresh turkey which was still partly frozen and left. Once I got in the car all I could smell fried food. When I got home my coat had to go outside to air out and the clothes I was wearing had to go into the laundry. read more

I grew up with the Norwalk store and often shopped the Danbury store. Was so excited to have one in my new NJ home but was really disappointed with the horrible produce and poor service. Won't go there again- Trader Joe's is so much better in quality, people and price! read more

Dear Fairway and Trader Joe's, you have nothing to worry about. I was concerned when I heard about this opening. But my opinion of my visit to the store is "one and done." The quality just isn't there. Not in the aesthetics, the layout, the selection, the staff. The concept(s) seemed so dated, including the low-tech gimmicky (and grating) theatrics meant for kids. The pizza looked ordinary if not terrible, the meats meh, I couldn't get a cone for my soft-serve, and I couldn't even find a garbage for my napkin. Even the bathrooms lacked anything modern and looked like the same design they might've used decades ago. Trader Joe's packs a lot more class into a much smaller space and Fairway delivers on quality and selection. I'm at a loss why anyone would choose Stew Leonard's for groceries or prepared foods. read more

I am sorry to say, but I felt like I traveled back 15 years to somewhere middle of America. This is the WRONG direction our food stores should be going. Isles of cheese doodles, and an entire wall of artificially enriched white breads. Only cereals sold are again only artificial ones. Virtually no organic food in comparison to everything else. Disorganized and loud. I could not understand where the entrance/exit was. Where were the isles? Had to ask 2 times to find certain foods. HORRIBLE! read more

The security guard (Paul) followed me and my family from one end of the store to the other. Asked to check our bags and receipts and went through each item one by one. I get that they need to protect the store from the serious issue of shoplifting...but singling out a colored mom and her two kids is messed up. No one else was stopped. It would've been fine after all that if the staff were somewhat friendly after the episode, but the guard was grumpy throughout the ordeal and seemed even more upset with us when it was over. I won't be back. It's a good thing Paramus has so many solid grocery options. read more
