Totally disappointed. We were actually super excited to check this store out, but it certainly didn't live up to the hype. So at first the only thing you notice is that there are lots of mechanical characters playing children's jingles on repeat, it seemed like it would be torture for any employee working there, I mean, the music was all different and playing at the same time, loudly, and coming from every direction, it was cute at first, but it seemed excessive, maybe they could put them on timers with a greater length of time between when they replay their jingle. Then you notice the maze that replaces traditional aisles in this store, there's no direct route to anything, and instead you must navigate a tangled maze through the entire store to get around, there also did not seem to be any order to the location of certain things. That wasn't even the worst part, the prices were high compared to other area supermarkets, with the exception of a few specialty items, but things like "chicken burgers" were nearly $13 and weren't even organic, a small container (enough for 2 people, maybe 3 if you give very small portions) of ready made mash potatoes was $11, and an uninspiring pre-made Mac and cheese that serves 2 was over $10, however the meat department/butcher section as a whole was impressive to look at and had a nice selection, we chose a beef brisket and some steaks to prepare this week, so the verdict is still out on taste and quality. Produce section was drab, very limited on organics, and the singing avocados on repeat made you want to get out of there pretty fast anyway. The bakery was ok, I'm giving 2 stars only because the apple cider donuts were amazing, but other than that the selection was standard, and the variety didn't seem to warrant the huge production team and fanfare behind the scenes. But the worst part was the prepared foods section, which is the main reason for the low rating. I believe the prepared foods is what truly sets a great grocery store apart from the others, and this one was so disappointing. The soups did not appear to be made in store from scratch, it wasn't yet 11am and 2 of the soup tureens were nearly empty and dried up around the edges while the center bubbled, the chicken noodle was filled with mushy bloated looking noodles, the tomato soup looked and smelled like Campbell's soup, and the other options didn't fare well either, so needless to say I passed up on the soup. My husband got some Singapore noodles and other items (in a separate container) from the Asian foods display, a traditionally curried dish, but they had no curry, or flavor of any kind other than sweet, and were filled with celery and a ton of canned mushrooms!! We paid $8 for a half a cup of noodles with no seasoning other than sugar and a touch of salt, and CANNED MUSHROOMS! Why on earth would they not use fresh mushrooms? The rest of the food appeared to be previously frozen or canned foods too. They had 2 types of meatballs and neither looked to be in store made, perhaps they were, but they certainly looked and smelled like they were heated up from frozen, there were sloppy looking pastas in watered down sauces, and over cooked veggies. I just couldn't understand why they would charge so much for cafeteria prepared foods. The made to order foods (a burger station and a fried foods and bbq station) looked better, but we didn't get an opportunity to try them, as we held out hope that the choices we made from the hot plates would be decent. They were not decent. We ended up throwing the food out and eating once we got home. I'm not sure if we will be back. We may give it one more try, if for no other reason than to grab some more donuts. read more
