So awesome! They have everything and it's wonderfully arranged. Easy to access and easy to find everything you need in one place, while also getting a snack in the cool food court. read more

There was nothing wrong with the food, it was the decorations that were my problem. At every corner, there was a horrific animatronic and I felt super uncomfortable and violated. You can't even focus because there's the singing fruit, music playing in the background, and cows mooing 24/7. I honestly felt like I was in a fever dream when I was there, and I hated it. read more

The only enticing thing about this supermarket is the pumpkin patch outside the store (which is just a seasonal extra) and perhaps the fact that it's connected directly to the Paramus Park mall inside. I had high expectations hearing about how the chain is like the Disney of markets. The only semblance of Disney is some quirky plush dolls doing acrobatic flips atop the isles. Otherwise, the store how little inviting warmth, there are stations around the store for everything from fresh cider doughnuts, popcorn, bagels/breads/loaves, salad, buffet by lb,...but none of the stations had any samples or greeters to entice customers. There were no bargains, bakery items like the cider doughnuts were all $5.99, can we just even buy 1 doughnut to try or even pay half the price to try smaller portions of other items. The store carries basically only dairy, veggies, and meat essentials...so save the trip and just enjoy your local market or even Trader Joes. read more

I was in the area and stopped by to see what Stew Leonard's was all about. The layout was confusing to me and I never did find teriyaki sauce (which is the one thing I was looking for). But, I was overall very impressed with the store. Nice produce display with great prices, very large bakery section (and I love the 7 grain bread that I bought), and what looked to be a great section offering prepared foods. And, the cashier was friendly and efficient. Sadly, the store is too far away too visit regularly but I'll definitely stop by when in the area.. read more

Stew Leonard's is not at all a traditional grocery store. They carry most of the staples and have a large and good bakery, but they are lacking in variety/options for most food items and there's a lot of stuff they do not have at all (soups, etc). The layout is a little IKEA-like in that it's maze-like with a few shortcuts if you want them. Prices in generally are higher than at other local grocery stores, aside from a few of the typical loss leaders (milk, certain types of meat, etc). It's definitely an appealing store for kids will all of the animatronics, sounds, and colors. The to-go food selection is pretty good and not outrageously expensive, but being in a mall you'd probably get more bang for your buck at the food court. The ideal visit to the store has you picking up baked goods with a couple of staples on the sides. Coming here for all of your grocery needs is probably not wise. All of this said, the store is well-kept and definitely provides a unique experience that is not for everybody. Avoid coming at peak hours. Getting to the store is easy enough even at peak hours if you take side roads (God help you if you try to use Route 17 on any day besides Sunday), but parking is surprisingly difficult, especially close to the store. read more

I have been frustrated with many aspects of this market since it opened. HOWEVER, they are coming through in a time of crisis. My online order was handled perfectly - - the epitome of professionalism! Well done Stew!!! read more

This was my first visit to a Stew Leonard's. It was a Sunday after running a race at Paramus Park Mall. My review is for lunch buffet only. The place is packed with shopping carts going in every direction at once so it took some time to get my bearings. They have BBQ, Pizza and Burgers for sale in a style similar to a mall court setup. The buffet is separate from that. The experience is not really meant for dine in. I choose a preferred container and selected items from the hot food section which happened to be meatballs and sausage & peppers among other items. There were sections of cold foods, soups and Asian buffet as well. I brought the food to the checkout line where I received my plastic utensils. I'm glad I went on a Sunday so I could note that they open a tiny part of the mall with tables. Again, it's more of a quick eating event than it is a dining experience. The price depends on how heavy the container is. My meal came out to $23 which is a bit steep but it served as lunch and dinner. read more

Let's face it, Stew Leonard's is a fun place to go on a Sunday when the mall lacks traffic. We enjoy several specialty favorites, such as the Apple Cider Donuts, half pies, Take Out Wings, fresh cheeses, and cut-up fruit containers. Always get a pound of coffee, something from the Fish mongers, and a bottle of wine, although the selection is nice but the prices are average compared to the surrounding area. We enjoyed our free ice cream for our $100 purchase, even if we were going to spend that anyway. An entertaining alternative to Fairway. And how about those Avocado Girls? read more

Stew Leonard's is great if you know what you are looking for. Not your typical grocery trip but great for if you need something prepared, a good item to bring to a gathering or a quick dinner on the go. I especially love family size salads (looks are deceiving there is A LOT in those containers). Don't be expecting your traditional grocery store- less items more fresh foods. Really enjoy coming here. read more

It might be a fun place for kids to see, but not ideal for grocery shopping. Most of items are over priced, higher than Whole Foods, Kings, Costco, while the quality don't live up to it. Bought a couple of items from bakery department, tastes like amateur's, but I am surprised they charge much more than their competitors in same range. read more

The one star is just for one product I bought at Stew's in Paramus today. I only spring for his $8 in store made potato chips on special occasions. They had bags of them lined up on racks, so for the Super Bowl, I took a bag. I couldn't wait to have some when I got home and what a disappointment. They were stale and rubbery. I've had these chips in the past and they were crispy but these were horrible. If it wasn't about an hour one way I would drive back and ask for a refund. Also, I went to get a bucket of chicken for the Super Bowl and there weren't any. I asked a woman at the counter if there were chicken buckets but she said they didn't have any and I should come back tomorrow. I told her I drove an hour to get a bucket because it was advertised in my email. She went in the back and less than 5 minutes later she came back with a bucket of chicken. What's up with that?! I hope the chicken is better than the chips. I love Stew's, but today's experience with the chicken lady and the rubbery chips was a real disappointment. read more

It's a supermarket. What's the big deal? They have ready made food that you can carry through the checkout and hope to find a table out in the mall. read more

Superior Customer Experience! The food we purchased was great quality, fair price. There were some excellent sales. There were a lot of sample stations, great tasting food, some of which did end up in our cart! Everyone we came in contact with had a can-do, service first attitude. There was even entertainment by way of animatronic displays throughout the store. I actually took pictures and video in a grocery store and had some good laughs. The big takeaway was that they had unique items and overall great selection - you could get literally everything that you could possibly want or need for even the most special occasion all in just one place. If you spend $100 (and who doesn't at the grocery store) you can get a free coffee or ice cream on your way out. I saw people walking out with a lot of different selections. Personally, I was too full from samples. read more

I've been aware of the Connecticut phenomenon that is Stew Leonard's for years, but living in central Jersey, most of their stores are too far away for me. Until now. With a new store in the Paramus Park Mall (in the old Sears building), it was worth taking a look. It's fair to compare this store to a Wegman's or Whole Foods. Comparisons to Trader Joe's is incorrect. Most Trader Joe's stores are significantly smaller than any of the stores of the other three chains, 15k sq ft for a Trader Joe's, 40-75k sq ft for the others. But, back to the comparison. My wife and I visited the Paramus store this past Saturday afternoon and it was bustling with shoppers. Yes, unlike Wegman's and Whole Foods, Stew Leonard's invests a lot of time and energy in kitschy decor. There are animatronics, model railroad trains, flying cows and other stuff all around the store to keep the kids happy and that's the point. Its how they distinguish themselves from the others. If it's not for you, so be it, but if my kids were small and I had this store or a nearby Wegman's or Whole Foods, this Stew Leonard's would probably be my first choice. With regards to selection, quality and price, this store is on a par with Wegman's and Whole Foods. Wegman's takes the win for selection over both this store and WF, but a typical Wegman's is about 10k sq ft bigger, so it should. The selection and variety of this Stew Leonard's is better than any Whole Foods I have visited. Their prices are better too. Wegman's is slightly better and Shop Rite prices are better than all three, but Shop Rite is not a fair comparison either. If you live near this Stew Leonard's and typically shop at a Whole Foods (because the nearest Wegman's is way up in Montvale), give it a try. The quality of the meat, bakery items and produce we bought were easily as good and priced a bit better. If you have young children in tow, all the more reason. read more

I hated everything about this place First the layout sucks you can't get from one department to the next without moving people The prices are high high 10 bucks for precooked potatoes And the checkout are is buried against a wall unless the prices change this will last two years best read more

This has far exceeded my expectations. The locations in Paramus and Clifton have taken a drastic drop in their cleanliness and professionalism. This seems to be the response and it is fantastic. This store definitely gives Trader Joe's and Whole Foods a run for its money. The place is very organized, clean, kid friendly, and the staff is pleasant and helpful. I have never had to wait in a long line as their are many cashiers open. Oh check out their flowers! Only $6.99 for a dozen roses that last!!! read more

Best grocery shopping place ever i have been to! Especially with my baby girl, she loves going here!!

Please go to Yonkers or Danbury to experience Stew Leonards. This store doesn't carry full line of products. Excellent fish department but nothing else. Tiny dairy department. My checkout person crushed my produce with heavy items. Very unfriendly. Free ice cream tasted like lard. Please go elsewhere. Stew Leonards outside of N.J. are great! read more

I was excited when Stew Leonard's finally opened near me, but after all the hype, I still prefer Trader Joe's, Fairway, Wegmans and Whole Foods. The singing Avocados, and other animatronics are fun for kids and some adults...reminds me of "It's a Small World" at Disney...but it definitely does not feel like a small world in there -- or maybe it does. It's mostly crowded and loud. That can be offset by shopping on off-peak hours as I've done, but here's where they lose me: The first and last thing you see when visiting is a burley uniformed police officer by the door. That really sets a distasteful tone. Are you kidding? Will someone be handcuffed if they eat a grape!? More importantly, though, is the lack of variety, especially in organic produce. Many of their own branded products are marketed as all natural, award-winning. What award exactly? it's not mentioned and I'd like to know. Most of these diary products also do not mention non-GMO fed cows, and virtually all of the fish is either previously frozen or farm raised, etc. etc. Bakery products are touted as freshly baked on premises, and I don't doubt that, but read the ingredients. They are freshly baked with thiamine mononitrate, hydrogenated oil, diglycerides, sodium benzoate, artificial flavor...etc. etc. read more

I visited their grand opening in Paramus NJ and it's an excellent store to do my grocery shopping. Everything is super fresh and delicious. Real food. The animations were entertaining and fun to watch. I even took pictures and videos of them. I loved it. Move over Shop Rite , hello Stew Leonards Marketplace! I'm definitely going back to Stew Leonards today to do my grocery shopping. read more

I mean yeah , if food shopping is better as a food experience this place has it. If you're a foodie you will love it . The prices are competitive on some basic items but overall the prices are not value minded. That is of course, if you shop the regular stuff, their sales are pretty good. So now I know what a Stew Leonard's is and it will not be a regular thing because I don't need all the fancy stuff. read more

Their bakery items are TERRIBLE. Spent so much money alone on their baked goods and everything is sooooooo dry!! Their apple cider donuts were so gross, all sugar on top of this dry gross donut. Their apple cider walnut bread, disgustingly dry AND 2 days after i bought it went to have some and there was white mold growing all over the top, after only 2 days.... yeah okay. Their apple pie tastes like there is no butter or sugar in it, totally flavorless. Shoprites pies for 1/4 of the price are 10x better. Oh and let me not forget their bagels! Bought them afternoon time so they should have been made fresh that morn, went to have one that evening and it was hard as a rock, toasted it bc i was hungry and the inside the dough is just totally not a normal nj bagel. Idk what the heck they use in there. The only good thing we had from here was the chocolate drizzled rice cakes and their pre madw pork dumplings. Everything else was trash. Will definitely not be returning here and wasting almost $200 again. Pathetic read more
