Stopped here for family dinner simply because it was close by, and I had a craving for Thai food…read more We made reservations online, and showed up on time, and were quickly seated. As I entered, I quickly remembered being in the space not long ago when it was a El Gato Gab Gab. The space has stayed mostly the same, but the decor has been updated to have a more Thai theme. We initially had our mind set on 5 dishes, but were told 2 were sold out, so we had to make some changes. They had mentioned a couple other items (which we didn't order) were sold out too, so they clearly had some supply or planning issues to work out. Here is what I tried: - Stuffed Chicken Wings: Very good. The batter had volume, but stayed quite light. The chicken was mostly deboned, and fully stuffed. Probably my favourite dish of the night: - Crispy Frog Legs: Very good. Quite similar to the chicken wings in terms of the light batter. - Khao Soi Chicken Leg: OK. Tasted fine, but the chicken, although tender, had a slightly mealy quality to it that I thought was a bit strange. - Pad Ka-Pao Beef: Good, but the beef was more "wet" that I normally see it. - Naem Fried Rice: Good. No complaints. Service was very pleasant, and they took the time to present and describe the dishes. They did seem less attentive as the place got busier though. I would rate this visit a 3.25 out of 5 - a little better than average. I really liked the stuffed chicken wings and crispy frog legs, but everything else was a bit more average including the service. Not having a few dishes we wanted shows signs that they need to iron out some operational issues.

This place has changed many times, and now it's a Thai restaurant!…read more I really enjoyed it overall. They kept the original structure but redesigned the interior, which now has a beautiful Thai-inspired fusion style. Food-wise, I liked everything I ordered. The two appetizers complemented each other well--one deep-fried and one herb-based, creating a nice balance. The chicken leg noodle had a very creamy soup base. Last but not least, the cocktails were creative too--Thai-inspired but not overly boozy. The service was great as well. All the servers were friendly and always smiling.

We went on a Wednesday for lunch, and there was a good amount of people. The vibe was fun and everyone seemed like nice locals. Our server was super friendly. Her ability to balance large plates is also insanely good. Despite there being a lot of people, she memorized all of our orders and had all of the food delivered without a single mistake. The food was sooooo good. I didn't know fried fish could be this flavorful. The price was also incredibly affordable: all-you-can-eat on certain days of the week is only $19 plus tax and tip. We also had a large coleslaw with unlimited pop drinks, and the bill came out to only about $24 per person total. I would absolutely come here again. The size of the fish pieces we had were huge and since we got the all-you-can-eat option, they provided 2 pieces per person at first and you can ask for additional pieces later.

It is currently closed (I believe due to some issues with the building?), but the food is top notch. My go to has got to be the fish and chips, which come in massive portions and are probably the best deal for fish in the city outside of Cockney King's. However, this is more of the style of fried fish that I prefer, which is beer battered. One and a half pieces of fish should generally be enough for one person. I've ordered the soups a number of times and they are excellent also, with plenty of seafood in them. I also enjoy their regular fish dishes, which are clearly fresh and picked daily, as the menu can change by day. Always cooked perfectly and in generous portions. The service is what makes me always want to return. The serving staff are great and attentive. And for those who love pairing their fish with wine, there was free corkage when I went, and I was provided with wineglasses for the bottle I bought from across the street.

Ah the White Spot…read more Been around for decades! I remember my grandma taking me to the WS in the 70s (oh my do I date myself) & me freaking out like a little school girl, over the glass that I had my drink in. I wanted that glass so badly I cried. Grandma tried to buy it for me. Gawd bless her soul. Back in the day the WS would draw families in with their kids via The Pirate Pack. The kids meal would be served on a Pirate Pak - a paper / cardboard boat & my brother & I, in fact every kid would go absolutely bonkers! Not sure if that still happens today? Ah those we're the days when I had no bills or stress. I had not been to the WS in over 30 years nor did I miss it. A few years ago, the WS went through a major renovation updating the interior decor at all their restaurants. However, it still feels old to me. My Monty Burger was just ok. Couldn't really taste the 'secret sauce' WS is famous for. My cocktail - good. The highlight & sensation - my chocolate milkshake - it was excellent. I almost might go back just for that. These days the crowd at WS is mainly of the geriatrics type, according to my observation. This older generation must have come here frequently as kids & as a result, still love the WS today. Kudos to them. The WS continues to be a popular restaurant to eat at for many - I can't explain why. Each to his own. Do I need to go back anytime soon - nah.

We waited for a few minutes for someone to notice we were there, and were immediately seated. It's a nice looking place - very classic whites, and feels like a fine dining restaurant. We decided to try the following: - Beef Carpaccio: Good. Maybe a bit light on the meat, as it was buried by the arugula and pickled shallots, so seemed unbalanced, but overall tasted great - Seafood Linguini: Mixed. Linguini was good. Scallops were really good and tender. Mussels were tiny. Red snapper was tough and dry. As a dish, it was OK, but could be better. Seafood is seasonal, so I'd think they would be better off rotating what seafood is used. - LuLu Island: OK. Same issue as the linguine. Prawns were fine. Mussels tiny. Red snapper wasn't enjoyable. Broth had flavour, but didn't come out very hot. Service was pleasant but slow. I only saw one server and one busser, so not enough staff to handle 6 or 7 tables they had. Starter came n reasonable time, but main dishes seemed to take over 20min. Took awhile to get our plates cleared, and probably 15+ minutes to get the bill. Overall, it was OK. Food was OK, but not special. Service was nice enough, but couldn't keep up with timing. Glad I got to try it, but not special enough to go back.

I ordered the mixed mushrooms with glass noodles from the main dishes menu (one of the few vegetarian options available). It's a simple stir-fry--fragrant garlic, mushrooms, and silky glass noodles. Nothing overly complicated, but comforting and satisfying in its own way. At first, it feels quite understated, almost plain-looking, but it grows on you with every bite. The little chilli sauce on the side is what really elevates everything. A bold mix of green chilli, garlic, ginger, and lime juice--it completely wakes up the dish and turns each bite into something bright and punchy. It honestly made me realize how much I miss ginger in everyday cooking. The stir-fry is a bit oily, but it seems intentional, helping keep the glass noodles from clumping and giving them that smooth, glossy texture. My only wish is that there were more plant-based options on the menu--because the space and flavours here really deserve a stronger vegetarian selection.
