A horrible pizza

One of the worst pizzas you could have in Miami. The pizza here is the equivalent of a pizza ghoul, no flavor and no crunch, you are better off getting pizza from 7-11 or getting the cheapest 5 dollar frozen ones from Aldi's. Mozzarella doesn't feel good to eat, feels low quality and cheap. The pepperoni is inconsistent and some slices can have as much as just a single one on them. Nothing really stands up for the pizza at this place, not the red sauce, not the dough. Truly the first pizza I've had with no flavor.

So a friend has been swearing that this pizza spot is the best. I'm up for the challenge. Now honestly I'm not big on pizza, I have to really crave it to leave my house ha ha. So it was a beautiful hot summer pool day and we got the craving for a cheesy, gooey pizza. With our friend in mind we took the drive. Now I've driven by here a million times over the years and never been. But a spot that's survived it all has to be doing something right, right?! We parked in front and walked inside. That pizza being made fresh smell smacks you right in the face. Everyone was super friendly and patient with us. We went with the veggie and asked for the anchovies to be included..Yes,I like anchovies..bite me. Even though there was only 2 of us we acted like a squad and ordered the biggest pizza they had...bigger than the the XL,lol. We were a mess. But omg, trying to walk out with that big box of gooeyness and fit it in my car was such a mission...a happy one at that. When we finally opened the box it was crazy to see this beautiful concoction of fresh veggies, robust sauce, and scattered anchovies. The slices were bigger than my hand. Our first bite was heavenly. I regret nothing. We couldn't even eat it all in a span of 2 days. Pizza is no joke. We enjoyed the hell out of it. The cheese and toppings were delicious. And I'm sorry but if the pizza ain't a little greasy what kind of cheese are these other places using. We were happy and beyond satisfied customers who would gladly do a repeat. So live, shut up, and take a cheesy bite and be happy.

Sergio F & Italian food...goes without saying!…read more I came by with a group of friends Saturday night for sustenance after weekend activities in downtown and the beach. La Leggenda had been in my to try list, and finally had a chance to do so this weekend. We liked the fact that our waiter regularly checked on us, even resolving an issue with one of the glasses as soon as we pointed it out. Oh and having a corner table by the window to enjoy the Española Way street scene to perfection! The three of us decided to share two pizzas: their Margherita STG and the "Regina". Both had a perfectly thin and airy crust. The fresh basil and melted mozzarella do indeed make their margherita pizza truly award winning. The Regina Pizza was topped with a nice helping of perfectly salty prosciutto as well as baby tomatoes and greens. We also asked for extra sauce and chili oil which made the pie even better! Of course, there was dessert! With its crumbly graham cracker crust, creamy ricotta cheese and pear pieces this dessert made for a sweet ending and was enough to be shared between the three of us.

I usually avoid ordering pasta, it's just not my thing but their spicey 3 cheese fusili is killer! We love the pepperoni pie with onion. Sometimes we'll let the server pick our toppings just to experiment. Their Kale Caesar is delicious as well. Highly recommend the Mozzarella sticks. See cheese pull featured on photos. What's really neat is that this a NY based restaurant that people usually wait in line to try and get it but here on the beach we've never waiting more then 10-15min to be seated. Service overall is timed well. We never wait to be attended to and food always come out hot. Atmosphere is relaxed and not pretentious at all. Family friendly for sure and there are booths for small parties of 5-6. We love it there.

So my very high level of anticipation may certainly be partially to blame for my average-ish experience. I was pleasantly surprised to get a table with no wait at ~6:30 on a Wednesday evening. Staff were attentive and friendly. Prices were high, as expected, but at least the pizzas are of reasonable size. The $32 pasta portion probably could've been a bit more generous. But anyway, on to why we're all here - The Pizza: The crust had a great crunch but I felt lacked nuance beyond that, no chew and a touch on the dry side. Cheese and sauce were fine but also unremarkable. The heaps of basil provided some bright freshness that was definitely appreciated. I feel even more compelled now to try the NYC location for comparison! This wasn't a bad pizza by any stretch but not something I would ever pick over my favorite NYC standouts.

And while the pizza was tasty, if I'm being completely fair, it just wasn't memorable enough for me to understand the hype or feel like I needed to come back for it. I did end up coming back a second time to try the pasta, and unfortunately, that experience was disappointing. Both my friend's pasta and mine were significantly undercooked. What made the situation especially awkward was how it was handled. The waiter seemed almost bothered that we mentioned it, and eventually the owner came over and spoke to my friend, saying he would personally make sure hers was cooked properly. But he never asked about mine, even though mine was just as undercooked. When my friend's pasta came back, it was much better, but mine was never addressed. The whole interaction just felt strange and uncomfortable, especially considering we had the exact same issue at the same table. Between the pizza not quite living up to the expectations I had going in and the experience on my second visit, I'm glad I tried it, but I don't think it's a place I'd go out of my way to return to.
