Steve came over on a Sunday and replaced my starter. Car was not starting at work and at a rest point far from home. I could only risk it so much, had to get it fixed. He replaced the battery connectors, which AAA failed to replace when they put in a new battery. He cleaned the battery. He had my car working in less than two hours. It hasn't failed to start since. I was charged a good price when you consider how fast he arrived and installed it, the services and the parts and labor. And also that he was the only reliable option I could see -- AAA actually drove by and said they knew a guy who could help. But Steve's Mobile Repair had solid reviews. After Steve arrived, I let him do his thing. He did chat with me afterwards, which was good. Always good to chat with the locals a little bit. Thanks! read more

Steve's Mobile Repair - Straight 6 on my 67 Falcon - Auto Repair Near Me - El Cajon, California

Great service, reliable, mobile and finished quick. Very kind and professional, convenient and generous. Will work with you

Steve is awesome! Very helpful, honest and did great work. He helped with my truck and my trailer. Highly recommend!

Steve came to my rescue twice in the past few weeks as I was getting my old truck ready to sell - once when it wouldn't start at home, and again when I was stranded in a parking lot for a completely different reason. A very nice guy (and a horse person). He was responsive, quick, professional, competent, and reasonable. *Not* a shady shade tree mechanic. The truck is off with its new owner now, but I will not hesitate to use Steve again with our other vehicles when we need help. Thanks Steve! Much appreciated. read more

I was stuck outside a trailer parts store and met Steve inside when he heard me ask the owner for help. Tackled one of the toughest towing balls ever!!!!! And did it for free! It took at least 4 people 20 mins! The best!!!!!!! read more

Knowledgeable, straight forward, and obviously experienced. Steve solved the several problems with my classic Chevy without the car ever having to leave the safety of my property. Problems that other big in-town shops absolutely failed to even identify. I'd give him 10 stars if I could. Thanks Steve!!!! read more

Steve came out today and confirmed the codes we had already figured out. He replaced the sensor and cleared the codes. He was very pleasant and you could tell he knew what he was doing. I don't think I'll ever go to an auto shop again. read more

When my car wouldn't start, I tried giving it the jump start, but that didn't work. I had replaced the battery about two years ago so I figured it had to be the starter. I was thinking I was going to have to get it towed to the shop but decided to try having someone come out and look. I had never heard of Steve's Mobile Repair before, but apparently others people on Yelp love him. So I gave him a call. He showed up on time (about ten minutes earlier than he said, actually) and got right to work. He tested the battery and it turned out that battery was as dead as vaudeville. Steve knew just by looking at it where I had bought the battery, and he told me there was a three year warranty on that type of battery. He took the battery down to the place where I bought it, and got a replacement for free under the warranty. After he came back, he tested the rest of the electrical system to make sure there wasn't some other problem, and then was on his way. He charged what I consider to be a reasonable price. He was super nice to talk to and very friendly. The next time I need someone to come look at my car I am calling Steve again. read more

We were stranded in San Diego because my car wouldn't start late Saturday afternoon. I had pretty much called everyone and left them messages with no response. The one guy that said he would come out at 8pm ended up pushing the repair until past 1am so I told him forget it. Sunday morning, I called around again and nobody could make it until my girlfriend magically found Steve on google. Steve was very upfront with costs over the phone and very prompt with responses. We set a time and even though I had to change the appointment several times, he was still accommodating and punctual. When he arrived, he was very friendly and professional. The job ended up being much more involved the original estimate, but he was super accommodating and got my car up and running quicker than I expected. I don't know why he doesn't show up when you search mobile mechanics on Yelp, but this guy needs to be #1 on that list. If I lived in San Diego this would be the first number I would call every time. read more

Called because my Check engine light was on on my Altima and I got the code read and it was the oxygen sensor. Called him he was nice came out to my house to allegedly fix the problem. he changed the part and cleared my code on my car and said the new sensor was working perfectly and it was all fixed.I paid him $300 and i thought all was well till 2 days later the first time I drove my car the light was on again. I thought it was a different problem so I got the code read and it said the oxygen sensor was still malfunctioning and it was the exact same code. So I call him back to have him actually fix the problem and he said there is nothing I can do he allegedly fixed the problem even though nothing had changed and that I had to take my car to a dealership. So long story short will not be using again and im out $300. read more

Anyone that has followed my reviews will know I rarely give a 5 star review. This is one time I feel anything less would be inappropriate. I found Steve to be honest knowledgeable fair reliable skillfull and friendly. I liked him when I talked to him on the phone. I called several places and got an estimate from the dealership. I prayed and asked God to direct me in making the right decision as to who to get to repair my car. Steve was the first person to come to mind. I called him back discussed my problem further. He gave me an estimate that was 50 bucks more than dealership. I thanked him for his time and informed him of my lower estimate and hung up . A couple m in latter he said he'd match the price and could be here in 15 min. I said let's do it. He arrived on time. Got the job done quickly. He did good work at more than fair cost as I would have had to call AAA to tow me to the dealership, rent a car till Monday and then drive from work to dealership to return rental for my car. Steve was deffinantly an answer to my prayer. I will continue to to use him as needed. I highly recommend Steve. read more

2 stars is perfectly accurate for this business.Which is, "Meh, I've experienced better." The owner, Steve himself is a VERY nice guy! Personable and talkative. However, the rest leaves something to be desired. After he arrived at my work to fix my fathers car, he immediately started diagnosing! Great! I love a go-getter! So, we chatted about some theories; exchanged what info I knew about the car and then I said, "I have to go back to work, you still have my cell, right? When you find the problem, give me a call and we can decide what to do from there." 30 or 40 minutes later I am walking back with some water for him and he got the car running! My initial reaction is, WTF?! I didnt authorize any repairs... So, I talk to him, he explains what the issue was and how he happened to have the part in his truck. Then before even telling me how much, he wants to look at something else on my car...I ask, "What price are we at now?" He thinks for a bit, throws $200 at me...so I say, 'No more repairs." At this time, and AFTER the repairs is when he writes up a repair order. Nice...fix my dads car THEN give me paperwork telling me how much it is. Not cool But, I am nice thank him for his time and pay. At least my dads car is fixed. He could have got 4 stars if he would have just told me first how much it was, BEFORE he repaired it. Because he was quick and friendly. Just not a good business man. read more

I haven't met Steve, he seemed nice enough on the phone when I called. He answered immediately and was able to get to my car the very next morning. I had to work. My dad is a tough nut to crack and Steve absolutely knocked his socks off. He's not only a really, really knowledgeable and honest mechanic, but he's a really quality human being as well! My dad was able to meet Steve when he arrived to fix the radiator on my 2007 Highlander. He was prompt(early actually), fixed the part quickly and efficiently and was fairly priced. He then fixed another one of my dads cars that has been to 2 other mechanics! Steve fixed it immediately! This guy is legit. No need to go anywhere else. He's got ya covered! After trying 2 other mobile mechanics and having a negative experience I was fortunate to find Steve. He was on time, quickly diagnosed the problem with state of the art equipment which the other mobile service didn't have, and repaired my van. It was obvious that he had vast experience. So my headlight went out, and after replacing it three times to no avail we figured it was an electrical problem. I called this guy to fix it, and he came a little late (which is forgivable). He changed the fuse (after he broke one), and re-plugged in my headlight, and it was fixed. All of this took less than thirty minutes. I asked him how much the work would cost, and he told me $85 per hour, and he charged more the full hour even though he worked less than thirty minutes. I was especially unhappy since i had to remove my filter, put it back on, and close my hood since he didn't. To top it of, he also charged me for the fuse he broke. Steve is very professional and friendly. He is very knowledgeable and does high quality work at a fair price. My truck had been running rough with multiple cylinder misfires and fuel injector codes as well as one for the mass airflow sensor. I had spent countless hours trying to fix it on my own with no luck. He showed up ten minutes early and got right to troubleshooting. After about three hours he had located multiple problems and got my truck running right. He also fixed my air conditioning. He even stopped by later in the day to make sure everything was running smoothly. I would highly recommend Steve to anyone and will most definitely be coming back with future gripes. My husband and I have used Steve for 6 years, he kept our old cars going until they both died and continues to work on our new vehicles! Steve is quick to respond, honest & a darn good mechanic. I have taken my car to the dealers while under warranty & been told about extra work, I bring the work order to Steve he checks it all out & tells me the TRUTH of what REALLY needs fixing. Steve's prices are good, he uses nothing but the best equipment & parts and even shows you what he's used. Finding a good honest mechanic is very personal, it's like finding a good doctor, or hairdresser. We have recommended Steve to family & friends & they agree he's great! When there is a job that requires the car being lifted he recommends great, well priced shops to take your vehicle too. He really is about helping others. I only hope he doesn't plan on retiring any time soon! Definitely try Steve out, he's worth it! Our cars run very well thanks to Steve. read more
