The generator quit and would not restart 45 minutes into the trip. A call to the NW Recreational and Cruise America yielded no help unless we journeyed to a repair place the following day hours away from where we were located in the Idaho Panhandle. In addition, the unit was not clean, in extremely poor condition and maintenance. The toilet smelled horrible and was almost not useable. The lack of a generator prevented the remote camping we intended for our week of rental. While driving, the front end vibrated and the windshield wipers were worthless when we encountered rain. Further, the refrigerator froze everything and ruined some of our food. Northwest Recreational was not helpful with our problems whatsoever. They pointed the finger at Cruise America and Cruise America pointed the finger at Northwest Recreational. With no resolution on our issues from either party's part, we are left with disputing the rental charges thru our bankcard. On our day of returning the unit, we were charged two additional small amounts that Northwest Recreational had not clue what the charges were for and said they could not reverse the charges. Bizarre, yes. Northwest Recreational is extremely difficult to deal with. I would highly recommend not doing business with Northwest Recreational.

We had a SmartCraft system installed so we could know the hours on the motor and do the required maintenance. They installed the wrong model, couldn't get it to read on our phone app (installer wasn't familiar with Android) and told us to call Mercury for support. After several frustrating hours and numerous unsuccessful attempts by various tech reps, we finally got one that informed us our issues were due to the wrong module being installed and directed us to return the one we had (under warranty) and told us the correct model to get. The boat trailer axel bearing dust caps are plastic and cracked when I tried to take them off to grease my axel. I called Lowe and was told to get help from the dealer. Two people at the dealership sold me the bearing buddy which definitely wouldn't work. Thankfully, Ed showed up and knew it was wrong but no one helped us get the required replacement caps. Elephant Boys doesn't carry them. The trailer is made by Karavan and a call to them led us to a source in Spanaway. I gave Ed and the other man at the counter the required part number but neither was interested in it. To say I detest Elephant Boys and their lack of customer service is a vast understatement.

There is an impressive view of Liberty Lake from the boat launch dock. The only problem is that…read morethe road leading to the boat launch and the snake-like road leading down to the lake are not designed for anyone who isn't experienced navigating a trailer. The road leading to the boat launch was precarious for me and I didn't even have a trailer. It seemed more like a back-alley, with cars parked on either side of the narrow street. I can't imagine what it would be like on a Saturday afternoon, two inexperienced drivers hauling large boats meeting in the middle of the road for a game of chicken to see who backs down, the loser forced to back up knowing that a sway in the trailer will scratch the cars parked along either side. It almost had the feeling that the property owners were strategizing ways to scare boaters from the launch to maintain tranquility in the neighborhood. I have seen this type of strategizing in Wisconsin on lakes near population centers, where there is technically a public boat launch, but the only place to park your vehicle is a half mile away. Don't forget your life vest! For those skillful enough to put their boat in the water, Liberty Lake is beautiful.

The short version: * Massive delays, broken promises, and total lack of communication * Boat was promised by March -- work didn't even start until well after * First set of motors were "lost," requiring a second order * Paint job was done incorrectly -- twice * Lied about successful water test -- boat took on water the moment it was launched * Drain plug left out during attempted fix * Stereo system was stolen under LPM's care, and they didn't inform us -- only admitted it when we noticed it on the lake * Replaced high-end amp with used, low-quality junk * Canvas storage cover returned with a 3'x4' hole * Engines were never properly tuned and continued throwing codes * Demanded full payment for an unfinished and poorly executed job * Three years later, we're still dealing with issues from their work To make matters worse, Chad (the owner) is dishonest, evasive, and unqualified when it comes to tuning or performance diagnostics. He talks a big game but clearly lacks the expertise. Worst of all, he treats customers like a nuisance once he's been paid. Avoid Legend Performance Marine and any business associated with Chad.
