Very disrespectful owner. Called to get a simple diagnostic done on my vehicle and was rejected when speaking with the owner Steve. I voiced how I was in need of advice on what to do or if he could point me in the right direction if possible and he said how he did not want to help nor did he intend on looking at my vehicle due to him having other important things to do. This was very unprofessional and was the worst customer services I've seen. The lack of respect towards customers should be something they need to fix at the garage not just the "cars". This place is not your old school dirty ole garage. It's impeccable. The wife runs the office the husband does more than guess what's wrong with your car and take a stab at it - he is so so thorough and honest you will be amazed. I was referred here from a neighbor (we are new to Camarillo) and it is such a relief to have quickly built a sense of confidence and trust in a mechanic. I had been having a starting problem with my truck. I had taken it to two other garages, but as luck would have it the truck started up at both garages so they couldn't help me. A good friend recommended Steve's Garage, I stopped by the shop and was immediately impressed by the cleanliness, I was also greeted by Steve. I wasn't in my truck so I explained the problem I was having and Steve said he had an idea what the problem was and asked me if I wanted to set up an appointment. Steve explained his diagnostic cost to me and we set up an appointment. I dropped off my vehicle in the morning, received a call explaining what needed to be done, I approved the cost and picked up my vehicle that afternoon. My vehicle now starts without hesitation. When I picked my truck up, I was greeted and given a thorough print out explanation as well as a verbal explanation, by Andrea, of the work performed on my vehicle. I have NEVER been treated so rudely in my life by someone that owns a service business. My father owned an automotive repair shop and retired well because of his excellent customer service. I was here about a month ago for a service and oil change and had a great experience. Today I called about a little problem, was told by George, who answered the phone to bring my car by and they would look at it. When I got there and tried to explain the problem to Steve, he berated me because his staff hadn't shown up, and was so incredibly rude I WILL NEVER RETURN and neither will any of my friends or colleagues who I had recommended this place to. Not sure if he just hates women, but there was no need to treat me that way. A simple "we don't have time to look at it today, please make an appointment" would have sufficed. Truly can't understand how someone stays in business this way. read more

The customer service at this shop is THE BEST! I am from out of town, my son goes to college in the Camarillo area and his car broke down. Neither of us had a clue where to take it for repairs so he asked a friend and they suggested Steve's. I dealt with Andrea over the phone and explained I had to get this done from a distance and she was so helpful, like my son and I were her only customers (I know that wasn't the case but she made us feel like it). The price was more than reasonable for the repairs. I recommend this shop, I commend this shop for the best customer service skills, and I thank them for helping my son when I could not get there to do it myself. read more

Do not take your car here! They will rip you off! They charged me $85.00 and had my car for 2 days. They drove it all over Ventura County and put 45 miles on it. They left the gas tank empty (1/4 tank) and in the end said that they could not find anything wrong with the car. I was referred by a friend. NEVER again! read more

Service was on time and on budget, but I will be trying other mechanics who are easier to communicate with before I go back to Steve. My company purchased a cargo van from my husband that has been serviced by Steve for many years. I took it in to have something adjusted that Steve had installed in the past. Steve's junior mechanic gave me a ride home, which was fantastic. He was courteous, a good listener, and clearly knows his stuff. But on almost every occasion I interacted with Steve, I was disappointed by the way I was spoken to. I definitely agree with other female reviewers who found him to be rude. My whole family has been very loyal to Steve over the years and I am bummed to be writing this review. Not the experience I expected. read more

Some may find Steve to be a little dry and blunt, but I prefer my mechanic to tell me the situation straight rather than patronize and upsell services. Worst experience of my life. Took it in for brakes and finally after 3 weeks got fed up and took back my car. It was always something, Oh I had to order parts, the car computer went out and I had to send it out for repair, the thermostat went bad, etc. always promising it would only a couple of more days or it'll be ready Friday, Monday at the latest. As an east coast transplant 3 years ago, and being a retired female, I had absolutely no idea where to bring my 1998 vehicle for service. Steve was recommended by a friend, a 30 year resident of Moorpark. My son offered sound advice, but from across the country, for me to be cautious, to not be gullible, what questions to ask and how often to bring my vehicle in. I have found Steve to be professional, responsible and very fair. Steve's wife Andrea always gives me a friendly call back and is very accommodating when it comes to appointment scheduling. In the beginning, I emailed copies of my invoices to my son, who agreed that Steve's pricing is very fair. There was no taking advantage of an older single woman for unexpected repairs, as my son had initially feared. I wouldn't even consider taking my car anywhere but to Steve, whether for a routine oil change or a new alternator. He even went the distance repairing one of my old electric window mechanisms. Is he a busy man? Absolutely. Is he honest, capable and fair? Absolutely. Is he ever rude or disagreeable? Absolutely NOT! I could not be happier with Steve's Garage. read more
