In my opinion, Star is using very deceitful business practices. THE OLD BAIT AND SWITCH!!! I signed…read morean estimate. I later informed him I would not be hiring him. He then claimed I had signed a "contract." His form doubles as either an estimate or a contract. Without my knowledge, he circled the the word "contract" after he secured my signature. (Estimate/Contract option in the top corner.) After he was informed I was not hiring him, he subsequently wrote me what I felt was a very aggressive letter saying I owe him $500 for cancelling. Fact: I never accepted his contract. I signed what I understood to be an estimate. Upon receiving his collection letter, I called the Consumer Protection Agency for help. They reached out to talk to him. However, he appears to be too busy trying to collect from me to respond to the Agency, as I have not received notice from the Agency of his to their inquiry. Four months later and he is still pursuing collection of this cancellation fee on a "contract" I never accepted. My experience with Star has been unpleasant at best. In my experience, a professional ensures their client is aware they are signing a contract, and is knowingly accepting of all of the conditions of a contract. To do less is to invite the impression of being shady - of baiting someone to sign an estimate and then switch it to a contract. As a result of his dogged pursuit of a cancellation fee for a "contract" I never accepted, I would NOT recommend doing business with him, EVER.

Out of all the companies I called, they stood out to me for how clear an easy they made the process. They came and gave me their estimate, which I felt was very fair, so we shook hands, I signed the contract, and they showed up right on time to remove the tree as scheduled. They are true professionals. How they were able to perfectly cut the tree so it fell at such an angle that not a single branch even scratched my fence or any of the structures around it was very impressive. I appreciated how attentive the owner was in making sure I was 100% satisfied before they left. I could really tell how much pride and care they have about the work they do. From scheduling to cleanup, all was smooth, clear, and professional. They answered all of my questions and were very knowledgeable. Highly recommend this company and I will definitely use them again in the future.

I am not the type to complain, but I was so disappointed in the service I received from Hansen's,…read moreand I don't want others to have to go through what we went through. I hired Hansen's to cut down multiple large trees in my yard. During the bid appointment, Kyle said that we could sell our wood after, and that he had a contact that buys timber to sell to the lumber yard, and he would connect us. Our invoice says they would cut our wood to "marketable sections". After they fell all the wood (and after we had stupidly paid them in full with cash), I called and texted both Kyle and Warren multiple times in attempts to get the contact who would buy our wood. Warren would say I had to talk to Kyle and Kyle wouldn't return texts, and his phone went straight to voicemail. I never got that contact. Desperate, I googled and called three different log buying companies, and they all said that the wood was not prepared properly to purchase, and it was not placed in ways that they could access to take away anyway. I reached out to Hansen's again to ask them to just cut the wood into firewood sections and chip some so that it was more manageable for me as a normal person to give away or move and so that giant felled trees and heavy cords were not blocking our yard and our neighbors yard. They did not return my call or texts again. I treated them fairly and was extremely patient at every stage, and I am still baffled in why they did this- don't think anyone would reasonably expect their yard to be left like this after a tree service company has been there. If they made a mistake and what they thought at the quote stage about having timber to sell at the end was not accurate, they should have worked with me to resolve and figure out a solution instead of just ignoring and not answering calls and leaving me with a giant mess to figure out. They come off as nice and talk a good talk but actions speak louder than words, and I don't think this was acceptable way to treat a customer. Also there are numerous other things I am not mentioning- they cracked the asphalt of the road in front of my house/neighbors driveway, late for multiple appointments, first quote they sent me was almost double what he told me in person and had to fix it, etc. In retrospect, there were many signs of unprofessionalism from the beginning that I wish I had done more research. Please see the pictures of the state they left my yard.

Our yard was a challenge, to say the least, full of weeds, an old lawn and a sprinkler system that needed updating. Tony came by, listened to what we wanted, and came up with a vision for how to make the yard beautiful, more efficient and with less maintenance. We were amazed at how hard he and his team worked each day. They cleared out the weeds, trimmed bushes and trees, prepared the old lawn with top soil and new seed, set up perimeter borders, replaced valves and set up sprinklers the right way to ensure exact coverage so that water isn't wasted. They spread new mulch and decorative rocks and gravel that helped map out the yard into defined areas. Tony has experience and it shows in the level of attention and detail. They also did an great job of cleanup afterwards. Landscaping is not cheap, and if done correctly, enhances your home value and makes you feel good to be in your back yard. Highly recommend Alvin's landscaping, especially Tony and his team.

He provided a quote quickly, began the project on the scheduled start date, and was communicative throughout the process. Alvin accommodated a couple design changes during the project. Overall, we had an amazing experience working with Alvin and wouldn't hesitate to work with him again.
