Called the Doctor here in the morning and had X-Rays done and both teeth pulled within a few hours. This Doc seems to be on a mission to provide reasonably priced dental care in the Austin area and I'm onboard. Hope he never goes out of business, gave a $100 tip also as an expression of gratitude for his professionalism and for what he's doing for this city. Thanks again, Doc, and thanks again to the Doc's assistant. Austin would be very much worse off without this Doc's dedication to his practice. I feel so much better already too. One thing I'll note is the Doc is very honest and direct and I like that because I'm exactly like that too but if you're one of those people that like things verbose and sugar coated and enjoy beating around the bush, you may be confused here as most medical places tend to hire admin people to beat around the bush and be indirect and that's not the case here, if you ask the doc a question he'll give you a straight answer, he knows his stuff and he'll tell you exactly what's up and you may or may not like the answer but that's on you, I prefer my Doctors honest so I loved it here. On my final 3-4 visits there was a different hygienist every time. Dr. Knobles also wanted to replace a filling that didn't need replacing. This has been confirmed by my new dentist. Even after a year or two of switching, her office continued calling me to come in to have the filling replaced. They then went so far as to get the procedure pre-approved through my insurance, even though I did not ask them to do that. Overall, Dr. Knobles is a very skilled dentist and a very nice person, but I didn't like having a new hygienist every visit, and I really didn't like them pushing me to have a procedure I don't need and contacting my insurance company for pre-approval without my authorization.

I understand he picked Dr. Pevzner to take over much like Dr. Edson's predecessor, Dr. Dave Jackson picked Dr. Edson. That worked for us last time as I wanted a conservative dentist who is interested in preserving what we have versus replacing too quickly. Before finding this office I had a dentist who told me I needed a number of crowns. Well 35 years later I am scheduled to get the last of those crowns. Most I didn't need for 10+ years! So I want a dentist who takes care of patients needs first over filing their coffers. I'm hoping Dr. Jackson chose Dr. Pevzner with this in mind. I have had my teeth cleaned and a cavity was found under a filling. I had it filled by Dr. Pevzner. It was the most painless - yes PAINLESS- procedure I've ever had. It seems like there is always some pain with the injection at least THERE WAS NONE! I didn't even know they did the injection! The doctor was concerned about how close the cavity was to the nerve..aughhhhh root canal possibility! He took it slow and easy and that was avoided. My tooth is filled and my bite is nice. I think this new doctor for me is going to work out!

My initial consultation with Dr. Bob was informative and didn't feel at all like the usual dentist sales pitch. I could tell that Dr. Bob genuinely cared, even though he just met me. He took the time to explain to me exactly why my caps needed to be replaced, showing me x-rays and pictures of the area. I went back a few months after my initial consultation to have the work done (once my new insurance kicked in) and couldn't have been happier with my visit. The work took a few hours, but flew by mainly because of how nice he and his staff are. My dental assistant was Sara and she was friendly and talkative, even asking me several times if I was comfortable and wanted any water. Throughout the process, Dr. Bob explained exactly what he was doing every step of the way. It might sound silly, but I felt like I was being educated, rather than just sitting there bored. I would highly recommend Dr. Bob as he is by far the best dentist I have had in my 30+ years of dental work.

After the second time when I went in for my appointment I asked the lady at the desk what we could do to resolve the problem for good, Carol the office manager comes out and tells me we need to go to the Principals office in the back, (I'm not kidding she said that, I'm 38 years old and she said that to me ). She text back oh yes and I found the first form you did thank you. I Am DONE. She has no respect or consideration for my time while she does things with a half heart effort and then makes excuses. I call to cancel the appointment, I want a refund. She asks me what's wrong Amylyn? I finally tell her well I'm done dealing with you and your incompetence . I couldn't believe that I would ever need 4 crowns, a two-step deep cleaning, and that I had a cavity on top of all that. I just felt like something wasn't right. Unfortunately, I had to wait several months until my insurance changed before I could see an out-of-network dentist. It was so worth the wait. I went to see Dr. Farst thinking that I had atleast a few issues going on with my teeth. the hygenist took my digital x-rays, then only recommended a regular cleaning on my teeth. She promptly cleaned my teeth, and the polished them. Dr. Farst came in and evaluated my x-rays, and said that I looked fine, and only recommended that we keep an eye on one tooth in the future for a crown, and I did not have a cavity. I was so grateful. I am going to keep going back. It is a great office with great staff. I couldn't have been more pleased. I thank them for their honesty!! DON'T EVER USE ROSE DENTAL. THEY ARE OUT TO DRAIN YOUR CHECKBOOK.

His staff has always been pleasant for the most part and appointments are easily made or changed. I have however moved on to a new dental office - in part because Dr Farst is so far away from where I live now and also in part because IMO Dr Farst's office is a bit behind in the high-tech advancement department.

It was like calling an old friend you hadn't talked to in years, so much time goes by, that maybe you just forget about it, and never call. I took the step though, and I went to the dentist. Fears of multiple fillings, scary drills, root canals, and thousands of dollars in repairs were keeping me awake at night. Dr. Rost put me at ease. I wasn't berated for my lack of upkeep, nor was I made to feel ashamed about not flossing...I hate that. I got my teeth cleaned and examined by a dentist all in the same day. This is a rare occurrence nowadays. So many of the larger places make you have two separate visits, which is a ridiculous scam, and solely a plot to get more money if you happen to have dental insurance. This man is old school, probably in his mid-seventies, but don't let that dissuade you. He takes care of your teeth, and doesn't recommend costly extras that aren't necessary This is a quality that is hard to find in a dentist. My only fear is that he will retire soon, until then though, I will be faithful to Dr. Rost.

His staff is the same way. Everyone I have ever seen in his waiting room is old school - folks in their sixties and seventies. Even at 32 years of age, I feel a little out of place - like I'm not supposed to be there. Either way, I appreciate his years of knowledge, and non-alarmist perspective on what is going on in your mouth. Yes, you could go to another (younger) dentist with a cooler office, and better magazines. However, when your health, and possibly (very) expensive procedures are involved, you want somebody that knows what they are doing. (One word of warning - Dr. Ross is very "old school" when it comes to his politics. His waiting room had several issues of a certain conservative magazine that is so off the charts I thought it only existed online.)
