Bad Price; Bad Service; Just called them to get an estimate of installing water purifier, and the plumber was not very familiar with the job and his estimation was more than the double of what other plumbing company suggested. He hung up on my call while I am still talking. They first need to fix their customer service. read more

One night our kitchen sink started leaking (the pipe under the sink) non-stop after running the dishwasher. After that, any water we ran down the sink (on both the left and right sides) caused the pipe to leak immediately. It was dreadful! The next day, I called our normal handyman but he was not able to come for 2 days and after calling 3 plumbers (all of whom either were hard to reach or were fairly rude/prideful on the phone), I was SO relieved to reach Mark Stephen. It was so nice that he was willing to come that day, even though I had to leave work early... i was over the moon to hear he would fit me into his schedule the same day. He taught me how to use the garbage disposal (I had been using it wrong all these years), took the time to explain what the 2 issues were (clogged sink and loose pipe), and then fixed both issues in perhaps 15-20minutes (i wasn't really timing him, but it seemed really fast). He was very knowledgable, humble but confident, and I appreciated his help! Highly recommended. I will definitely share his name with all my friends! read more

I called Stephen Plumbing today (Sunday) for a clogged bathtub. He answered when I called, we set up a time, he was on time, he fixed the clog, charged a reasonable price and left. I found him to be a straight shooter but personable. I've used other plumbers in the past that are late, bait and switch, try to up sale, etc. None of this with Stephen Plumbing. I now have a new plumber. I highly recommend Mark at Stephen Plumbing! read more

Mark is the best!!! It's Veterans day and Mark just fixed our horrible leaking tub. He even worked on our toilet @ NO CHARGE. Called on Monday, he showed up the very next day ready to work. He's hilarious, professional and honest! After fixing the problem he and his partner waited patiently for me to return from the bank. All the work he did and we were only charged for his labor. There is a reason why he's got great reviews and all 5 stars. Dependable and Affordable. Thank you , Thank you, Thank you! read more

I'm really glad to have found Stephens Plumbing. My old bathtub started leaking a few weeks back. I called a few plumbers that I found on Yelp and found the following: - Some charge a few hundred bucks just for showing up. - The ones that don't have this surcharge will cost you dearly. I tried getting a free estimate from another local plumber and they gave me a $2000+ estimate for fixing the leak - that is $550 for an initial assessment (cutting the sheet rock on my wall) and another $500 - $1000 to fix either the faucet or replace the drain. And after that I'll have to call another contractor to patch up the sheet rock. Also, I live in a townhouse with really high ceilings (10+ feet) and when I explain my situation a few plumbers I called said they can't do it because that's too high. So I called Stephens plumbing and he showed up the next day, on time. He assessed the problem and decided the leak is minor enough; he jumped into my bathtub, checked the pipes, ran some tests, got a little wet, tightened a few things, and said he's not sure if that will fix the problem because he didn't any smoking gun evidence of a leak. He said let's try if that works. If it doesn't, and he'll come back. It's been more than two weeks and so far I haven't had to call him back. I appreciate his honesty, and his willingness to put the customer first. His estimates (if he had to open the sheet rock) are also substantially lower than the $2000 the other plumber quoted me. Thank you Stephens Plumbing for your work! read more

I called Stephen plumbing to take care of a leaky washer outlet in the morning and they showed up on-time in a couple hours. Didn't take him long to identify and fix the issue. Awesome. Bottom line: on-time, honest and gets the job done. Will definitely go with them again for my plumbing needs. read more

Like the other reviewer I had an emergency plumbing situation ON SUNDAY and called several plumbers who were hesitant to have to work on Sunday. Really? Stephen very happily accepted the job, arrived in short time and fixed the problem (leaky kitchen pipes dribbling water all over our new kitchen). Problem fixed in one hour with all the tools and materials on hand (or in his van.) He was also very reasonable in cost and was so pleasant and professional. We liked him so much we hired him to do another job (remove and install 3 new toilets.) I'm so happy we found an honest and trustworthy plumber. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. read more

Mark and his assistant replaced my p-trap and seals a couple of months ago. Last night my wife noticed another leak from the same faucet/sink. When I called them to see if they could swing by to check out what could possibly be causing this, they managed to swing by within an hour. They found the source of the leak within a minute; just a loose fitting on the hand held sprayer. I should have inspected it myself, however Mark tightened and it didn't even roll his eyes. They stand by their work can help you out at a moments notice. Thanks Mark! read more

Just used Stephen Plumbing Services this morning. I called ALL the plumbers in the yellow pages , the ones with the 1/2, full page ads that boast 24/7 emergency service. None of them could come out until the next day! Funny how things work out because I turned to Craigslist and found Stephen Plumbing Service. I called him at 7AM on a Sunday morning and he was at my house in 45 min. Finished the job in less than an hour and was much less than the other plumbers. I will be using him again in the future and will give out his name to anyone looking for a plumber. read more

Called for an issue with our water heater just after noon. The operator told me her technicians were out on calls already and asked if tomorrow a.m. would work. I explained that I have 4 kids who need bathing after a day at school so she rerouted a team to my house. Window given was 1-3 pm, Corey and Jeremiah showed up just before 2. What fast service! Then, as Corey was solving the problem, he talked us through the process in case it happened again. Took less than 30 minutes to fix, no parts needed. All it cost me was a box of Girl Scout cookies! Thanks, Corey and Jeremiah! Will be calling you guys for any future plumbing issues from now on! read more

Had Stephen come replace a toilet. He was on time, did the work efficiently, and rates were good and very reasonable. I've got several properties that I manage and have worked with numerous plumbers. Stephen is very easy to work with, simple & straightforward and honest guy. I'll call him again for my next plumbing job. read more

I really can't praise these guys enough. I had to write an update because they have helped us out with 2 other issues in our home. Our water heater went out and we had a different company come out and look at it. After over an hour of trying to figure out what was wrong, they told us we needed to completely replace the water heater. Seeking a second opinion, we called Stephen Plumbing. They came out right away (as they always do) and fixed it within 15 minutes! Turns out it was a simple fix that they identified right away and rectified. We've also been dealing with our pipes backing up recently and both times, they were here within the hour (I know this can't possibly be true for all of their clients but we've been super lucky to have them respond so fast!) They clear the line in a timely fashion and have us back up and running right away! Thank you, thank you Stephen Plumbing for your consistent, wonderful service. I'm seriously never going anywhere else! read more

I've worked with Mark Stephen for over 5 years. Believe it or not, I still haven't met him face-to-face in all that time, but knowing his work, I am confident that Mark can do more as a single plumber than entire plumbing companies I've contracted. I live in LA and manage family properties in the Bay Area. Mark is the guy to handle routine jobs to even more complex plumbing issues, when you can get him. New lines, fixtures, repairs, sump pumps, regulators, you name it. There is a comfort working with a person and not a bureaucracy. It's a matter of time before he jets through the stratosphere with these glowing reviews and becomes rock-star expensive...but until then, Mark's my plumber, whatever he looks like. read more

Mark has been my plumber for the past three years. He is one of the most professional plumber you will work with. He will be the first tell if the job requires specialist. Two out of four occasions, gave me diagnose for free and referred a specialist to take care of me. He also has one of the best rates around peninsula. read more

My kitchen sink kept filling up with water every time I did the dishes. The water would go down incredibly slow. I called Stephen's plumbing services and they said they could come right away. They fixed it in 10 minutes! Mark was the main plumber and he explained what happened to the sink and gave us some tips to avoid this issue again. Great service and very friendly. I would definitely recommend this company to my friends. read more

My hot water heater randomly stopped working even though it was only two years old. They were able to come within the hour and replaced the broken part when all other companies didn't answer or wouldn't be there until the next day. Great service! read more

Awesome plumber! They arrived promptly, worked quickly and was incredibly helpful. They fixed 2 toilets and sink. Stephen is honest and his rates are great. I will use them everytime i need a plumber. read more

I came home at night to a leaky pipe in the wall and was frantically giving plumbers a call. Mark was very responsive and came over right away. Thank you for being available on VERY short notice! As another reviewer put it, Stephen is a no-nonsense guy and he was also able to reassure me that the problem could be fixed. Mark was able to detect the leak and fix it. Unfortunately, there is a hole in my wall (the size of a shoebox), but I was half expecting that already since there is no easy way to get to the leaky pipe from the crawl space. The wall can be repaired but I'm glad the water leaked into my crawlspace instead of inside my house and ruining the floors! FYI, the leak was caused by a nail going into the pipe from our recent baseboard installation in the room adjacent to the bathroom. While he was here, I also asked him to take a quick peek at my water heater, which he had no problem doing. It gave me reassurance I didn't need to go buy a new water heater. Thank you, Mark! P.S. Really appreciated you were available and responsive via text message. read more

Called that morning with a clogged kitchen sink. They said they would be there between 9 and 11 and showed up right at 9. Fixed the issue, triple checked everything and they were on their way for a very reasonable price. Also gave me some good advice on my other plumbing concerns. Professional, courteous, excellent service. Good people. read more

At first, I had one plumber come to my house from another plumbing service. When I asked him about a shower issue which seemed to be outside of his area of knowledge, he told me he would research the issue and get back to me. Well...he never did. I finally called him one week later, and he said he wasn't comfortable working on the plumbing problem I had. So, I called Stephen Plumbing. Two plumbers showed up, identified the problem, ordered the part (which had to be shipped), and showed up the same week. And, yes, problem solved. Any future plumbing problems, I'll be calling Stephen Plumbing Services. read more

Stephen Plumbing was very responsive when I contacted them to replace my toilet. They explained issues I may come across and was upfront about what it would cost. Mark came as scheduled and was careful about cleaning up as he did the job. Got the job done at a reasonable price. I would use them again and would recommend them to family and friends. read more

I first called Mark (of Stephen Plumbing) in Feb 2016. He did a great job. Today is the next time I needed a plumber. I was very sad to learn that Mark passed away in Feb 2017. Bell Plumbing now answers Mark's phone line. Dan from Bell Plumbing was about to get lunch in Belmont, where I live. He postponed his lunch and was at my house in 20 minutes. He had the multiple clogs in my kitchen sink fixed quickly and cleanly. He is also a really nice guy and liked my cats. I will call Bell Plumbing directly from now on when I need a plumber. read more

came to Yelp to find a plumber first thing Monday AM, Stephen Plumbing came the same day to help. Very responsive, had another plumber come with a camera to look at the pipes and all of the backup wasn't pushed through so he came back out the following AM to fix it. So far so good and its been a week! read more

I love Stephen's Plumbing! I had had two other plumbing companies come to my house for various small problems, and while each of them were fine, I felt I could find a better company so I kept looking. But no more! I have had Stephen's Plumbing out for three service calls and each time I was impressed by their speed of response, their thoughtful considered and effective solutions and their wish to keep the costs reasonable and fair. The first time they came to snake a backed up pipe and found four separate areas that were each contributing to the problem (which explains why the previous companies had only solved the problem for limited periods of time) and gave me a few simple instructions on how to keep it clear in the future which have been working beautifully. The second time, I needed replacement drains for two 1980s style bath fixtures and they were able to source one replacement but as people stopped making the brass option way back, actually built one working and matching drain out of the two broken parts. Despite all this effort, they let me know in advance that it wouldn't take up the whole hour and to look for some little projects to have them finish up with so I would get my money's worth out of the service call. Fast response times (usually same day), excellent work and fair prices. I am so happy to have found plumbers that provide all three! read more

Called Caccia on Friday night and hadn't heard back so I tried Stephen Plumbing by Saturday afternoon. Mark Stephen picked up the phone while he was at lunch in a restaurant. I had a leak under my kitchen sink and needed help. It was Memorial Day weekend and I didn't want to be stuck without a kitchen. Mark asked if he could call me back in an hour after he was done eating. He promptly called back and was at my house in another hour and fifteen minutes. He diagnosed the problem quickly and made repairs in a flash. He was in and out in under thirty minutes. I was a happy camper! Mark Stephen saved the day! Easy peasy and at a fair price for pro help. read more

We had a water leak that we discovered very early in the morning. I found Stephen Plumbing on Craigs List and gave him a call. Mark came quickly and did the job perfectly. He also fixed a long-term leaky toilet, which was great. He prices are reasonable, and he really seems like he knows what he is doing. Also, seems much better working with a small, independent group rather than the big names. I'm going to use the guys always from now on. read more

Stephen answered the phone after 5pm on the first call and was at our house within 20 minutes to look at a broken water heater. I called two other plumbers that were in yelp's top 10 listing and both called us back the next day, it can be scary when there is water leaking all over from a broken water heater and it was very reassuring to have him answer the phone and be at our house so quickly. Excellent service, fair price and very efficient. Stephen is a plumber to keep on speed dial! read more

Highly recommended!!! Above and beyond! 5+ stars for Stephen Plumbing Service. The professionalism of Mark and his team are hands-down the best in the Bay Area. He answered the phone, showed up on time, diagnosed the problem, fixed the problem, and charged a fair (if not lower than most) price. If you want to turn your plumbing emergencies into a " Hey, that wasn't so bad!" situation, Then Mark is your guy!!! I will definitely be using Stephen plumbing services for all of my personal and business plumbing emergencies. Thank you once again. read more

These guys are great! They were referred by a friend and since they were local I gave them a try. They showed up on time replaced my garbage disposal and fixed the pipes under my sink professionally and at a very reasonable price. I will not write a review with only one experience though. I am pleased to say they have been just as professional each of the five times I have used them. This last time was when my water heater went out. Since it was such a large expense I got estimates from other places. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME. I can't believe some of the people who try and pass themselves off as plumbers, one of them even gave me a fake contractors license number, and in the end Stephens plumbing still had a great price. read more

Just got off the phone with Mark about an hour ago and he helped me troubleshoot my garbage disposal 'clog' that we were living with for the past 5 days! He was so helpful and saved us both time by suggesting that I look for a little red button under my garbage disposal and to simply push it in... for something as simple as that, I'm so grateful that Mark just shared his experience with me- saving me A LOT of time, hassle and not to mention money! I would totally go with him the next time I have a plumbing issue, since I know he is definitely competent to solve any problem. read more
