Arriving at the job site on time, technician Glen Cruz, performed the repairs very professionally with advanced copper pipe fitting skills and expertise. I work at a small shop in San Carlos that I've been at for about 10 years now. For those same 10 years, I've constantly dealt with an issue regarding drain backups after heavy sink usage. In my mind, knowing about the back up, I've just limited constant usage and taking periodic breaks during a job to give the pipes a chance to drain. I finally had enough after the last backup affected more than just the sinks, but the toilets as well. Being in San Carlos, I often see the Bell Plumbing business, trucks, and now billboard off the freeway. Figured I'd give them a shot to look into my issue. When I called, Leilani had assisted in getting my appointment setup to get a plumber out. She was extremely helpful and didn't mind that my request was for after typical business hours (due to a conflicting schedule that same week), so that was a major plus. On the day of the appointment, I received a call from Gianna in the office to confirm the appointment for later in the day. She even provided me a window of time to expect them, which was exactly the time frame I had requested with Leilani prior. When Bell Plumbing arrived, Ross was the savior. He spent the perfect amount of time getting an understanding of the issue I had been having as well as really diagnosing the best possible plan for attack. Because of the commercial building, and older construction, there was definitely some extra thought needed to ensure the best repair. Talk about above and beyond. From there, he did what he was called to do flawlessly. He carefully brought in all the equipment required, camera systems and a very hefty snaking machinery. We opted for having one of our toilets removed and later resealed due to poor cleanout options. As a client dealing with a constant headache for years, it was incredibly cool to stand by and watch him do is magic, especially when we both looked at each other knowing whatever the main reason for the backups was had just been cleared. Sure enough, going back down in with the camera system, the problem was gone. After that, everything was reinstalled properly and we really put the system to the test running all the sinks and toilets, which would normally cause major problems. Sure enough that night, and since then, not a drop backing up onto our shop floor. The part we all fear. Payment. Even as an after-hour call, I was shocked to get what I felt was a very fair bill for the work completed. Not to sound cliche and all, but I definitely kicked myself for not calling earlier. We had Bell Plumbing replace our entire sewer lateral, install a sewer cleanout on our property, move the city sewer cleanout to the correct and permitted location near the front edge of our property, and fix a leak underneath our house. They did a fantastic job and we are really happy with the work. This was a big job, and as first-time homeowners, we appreciated Bell Plumbing taking the time to walk us through everything in a manner that was easy to understand. When sewer water started coming up from the drain in one of our showers, Christian from Bell Plumbing promptly came out and was able to determine that the underlying cause of the issue was likely a root clog in the sewer line. Other quotes we received proposed everything from suggesting that the plumbing for both bathrooms needed replacement to quoting us over $10,000 to just install a sewer cleanout, all of which would not have solved the underlying issue. Bell Plumbing proceeded in a manner that was intended to save us money and identified the underlying issue without taking unnecessary, additional measures. We didn't have a sewer cleanout on our property, so Bell Plumbing initially proposed to dig a 6-foot hole in our front yard, clear the blockage, and replace the section of damaged pipe as a result of the root blockage. By digging a 6-foot hole in our yard, Bell Plumbing was able to access the pipe and clear the massive root clog in our sewer line. It was after the line was cleared that they were able to put a camera down the line, and they found that many of the joints in our clay sewer line were disconnected. It was determined that the line from our front door to the city connection needed replacement. They provided us with a recorded video of the line, and the damage was evident. As Belmont residents are responsible for their sewer line up until the city connection, the sewer lateral replacement requires pulling city permits. Bell Plumbing pulled the permits on our behalf and was able to begin work the following day after the permits were approved. The work mainly involved installing a two-way sewer cleanout in an area that would allow plumbers future access towards the house as well as the line towards the street, moving the city cleanout (previously on our parking strip) to the correct and permitted location on our property, digging a 10-foot hole in the middle of the street to access the point of where our line connects to the city line, and replacing the wye connection. The sewer line replacement itself was performed using a trenchless method. The backfill involved filling up the holes, putting new asphalt down in the street, putting down new concrete in our parking strip, and putting our brick pathway back around the area that was dug to install a sewer cleanout. What we especially loved about the job was learning how amazingly talented Cesar was at putting the bricks back in our brick pathway around the new sewer cleanout. It looks amazing. In the midst of this project, a PVC irrigation line was cut, and caused water to gush up underneath the ground and into the riser of our new sewer cleanout. They were able to fix the leak at no extra charge, which was greatly appreciated. We would like to give a special shout-out to Christian, who managed the project, and his crew (I apologize if I am spelling anyone's name incorrectly): Cesar, Issac, Ross, Glen, Jakob, Erik, as well as the front office staff: Maribel, Yasmin, and Yamile. I contacted Bell Plumbing on Friday mid-morning and Glenn came out in the afternoon to inspect and quote the repair job. I was kept updated by the receptionists on when Glenn was arriving. I even got an email with a link to track Glenn enroute to my house. Repair was scheduled for the next day Saturday and same notification process: telephone call to confirm, text and emails on Glenn's arrival time. Glenn installed a new PVC adaptor, a new shut off valve, and a new hose bib. After installation, he opened the water main and inspected for leaks. Total time for this job was about 2 hours.
