It took two days to remove a clog. On day one, they refused to snake it, insisting on using a…read morecamera and then flushing it with high pressure. Instead of clearing the line, they pushed the clog out past a single unit, so it affected 7 units, then left for the day. When they came back, they tried to upsell me on replacing the clogged pipe for $25k. When I balked at the price, they said they gave me the wrong price, then went down to $22k, then $18k, then I said the most I could pay was $15k, and they agreed. Once they thought I was going to pay for that big job, they finally agreed to use the snake to remove the clog, which is what I called them out for in the first place. Needless to say, I will not be working with them again. FYI: The worker, Chris, was great. It's the company management I have a problem with. In the end, I got charged for using the camera, flushing, and snaking--and had to put tenants up in a hotel for the night, which could have been avoided if they had simply snaked the line as I asked them to.

The short review is this: Martin is a wizard! He sucked a 2 lb. Piece of metal out of my main line…read morewith a shop vac, saving me thousands of dollars in repair costs! The details: I called Martin after a clog removal by another company went sideways (probably the topic of a no star review in the future). The first company identified where the problem was, but also caused a spill of sewage inside the house, then quoted me $5k to dig up the pipe and really fix the problem. To no one's surprise, I wasn't happy. So I called AHJ for a second opinion, and Martin answered the call. He spent a good 20 minutes on the phone, asking me detailed questions about the problem, and explaining my options (the other company did none of that). He made no guarantees, but said he thought he could solve the problem, so I asked him to have a look. He was at my house within 3 hours. The line had two objects stuck inside, causing backups. Martin worked to jet out one of the objects out, then used a camera to inspect the entire 80 ft. length of the pipe. The second object was still there, though, and it looked like digging was the only option. However, this is where the real magic happened! The second object was about 12 ft from the clean out, and it was not budging. Martin, however, thinks outside the box. He got out a large shop vac and stuffed the hose down the line. With the help of his camera he aligned the end of the hose with the obstruction and started up the vacuum. It took a while and was not easy work, but Martin eventually pulled out a 8" long, 2 lb. solid steel spring! That's no exaggeration (How that got in there I'll never know). It was Amazing! He also documented everything with his camera and thoroughly explained everything that we could see. So, I now know all about the good, and the bad, of my main sewer line, should any future problem arise. Thank you, Martin, for the exceptional service!

The first time happened a year ago, and then 6 month after, and then 3 months after. Every time, I had a hard time getting a plumber to come and look at the problem. Each time, we had to go to home depot myself/themselves to get an Snake (tool to unclog the pipe), and pay $300-$700 for them to open the pipes. It was a huge disaster. This time, I am very happy that I have called Discount Plumbing. There are several things RIGHT about these guys: 1. They use an Automated (Artificial Intelligence) receptionist that schedules an appointment over the phone. So we got an appointment on Sunday quickly 2. They sent a technician in 2-3 hours after I called them, and the tecnician actually came during the promised window 3. The technician has all the tools needed for the job. He had Snake, Camera and whatever he needed (I think he has $100K+ worth of equipments in his van) 4. Kevin, the plumber, fixed the problem in 1 hour while the previous plumbers would waste 7+ hours to do this. 5. Even though the technician was alone, he was very very competent, and better than teams of plumbers that I have hired in the past 6. Before start doing the job, he clearly mentioned the cost of the job UPDATE originally I have reviewed them as 5 stars. Unfortunately their work broke in 5 days, and when I called them to "please come back and take a look", they said they will come at 12pm. I was waiting till 6pm, and then they called to reschedule for another day. That has left me with a clogged line for the whole day. I am updating their review from 5 stars to one star.

However, when I was a kid, my dad would take me with him to the hardware store, and I would get a lollypop while he and whomever from behind the counter would wander around looking for an eyebolt or the right shade of caulk. Giulio- who I assume is the owner, is easily 10 years older than my mom, who lives in the assisted living up the street. My mom can't be bothered to go to the chair yoga we're paying for, but Giulio went to work. He's not totally mobile, but he knows his s#!t. Whenever I come in, he or whoever else is behind the counter is happy to chat through my issue and suggest something. It's not a Home Depot- so they may not have what you're looking for every time- but they have a lot of things, and it makes me happy to know my money is staying local. Also, side story: One day during the summer, it's like 90, and I am behind a contractor who's getting a bunch of stuff - lumber, rocks...I don't know- but he's paying for it, and he grabs some water bottles for him and his crew and puts them on the counter. Giulio totals him up and says a number; the guy says, "Oh, don't forget these waters". Giulio says, "The town where I come from in Italy has the best water in the world, and it flows right off the mountain. If my father knew I was charging people for water, he'd come back from the dead and strike me down. Those are free." C'mon. How can you not go here first?

I was 99% sure it was the skimmer and so paying them 490 dollars to tell me what I already knew irked me but when all was said and done it was nice to have a thorough check out of all the drainpipes lights etc and after seeing the amount of actual work and demo required to replace and repair it I thought the price was fair for the install as well . The star of the show was Dominick the repairman on site. At first I thought who is this kid they sent over. Younger than my youngest daughter but I was so blown away by his professionalism , work ethic and communication and expertise not to mention his conscientious commitment to getting every step perfect even capping old pipes that I would hire ALD again and recommend them to everyone. Too bad they don't do roofs. My water pressure and suction have never been better and I'll sleep better knowing the leak is finally stopped

He approached one valve, said it had a leak, took a picture, and then left after less than 10 min. And charged me $605. He did not even take a look at the water meter indicator to see if the leak is consistent with the water flow. The next day my plumber detected the real significant leak in a different valve and fixed it. It was the one driving the flow. Not the one the $605 technician identified earlier.

It is so difficult to deal with contractors when you are out of your element, I cannot tell you how frustrating it can be, I was visiting my elderly mother in Burlingame when I woke up at 2 in the morning to use the restroom and thought I was dreaming....I was literally standing in water, I couldn't figure out where in the hell all this water was coming from, I used my Iphone to lookup local companies and came across this one, I was quite hesitant at first because of the bad reviews as you can imagine but they advertised 24 hour emergency plumbing, so I gave it a shot, to my surprise, they answered and in a good mood, as you can imagine, no one can be in a good mood at 2 am, so that eased my anxiety a little. The plumber came out on time as scheduled, took care of the problem temporarly, they came back later in the day, two very professional "good looking" guys I might add, well you know plumbers aren't expected to be handsome to say the least, but they had some sort of advanced equipment to detect leaks and a camera to go in the sewer line, long story short, I thought I would for sure go broke with this call but for their efforts, they were quite reasonable, they cleared a sewer line that was backing up causing a leak, I don't know what they called it, some industry term but it was taken care of and they helped me clean up which I thought was just cool!, anyway, I now leave their number on the fridge for my mother because plumbing problems are constant in her home, it is an old house and she will need soneone again, I feel she is in good hands with them. read more

My water heater broke down on a Sunday (of course) and my brother in law highly recommended Express Plumbing who he had used extensively for his home and rental properties. I called and spoke with the weekend service and within 30 minutes, a plumber with Express called me to come and take a look that same day. His name is Luis Hernandez and he called me in advance of arrival and was highly professional, knowledgeable and clearly respectful of my home. Totally transparent on fees and explained everything clearly to me, which I really appreciated. After examining the issues with my current heater, I decided that it made sense to just replace it. Luis was able to schedule the installation the very next day at a time that was convenient for me. Luis and a colleague arrived, removed the old heater and installed the new one which is working beautifully. We had a few hiccups with the old water line, but Luis stayed on it until everything was resolved and he was assured it was working perfectly. The fees quoted for this were totally competitive with the industry and the service provided was excellent. I especially commend Luis for his professionalism, transparency and commitment to seeing the job through. He's a real asset to the company. For my future plumbing needs, I will definitely use Express again and will request Luis. read more

I rarely write reviews on Yelp, but I am writing this one to express my appreciation for the truly excellent work that Johnny and Dexter did today. I had two clogged downspouts in the framing of my house, not on the exterior, that required snaking/jet cleaning from the top of a very tall two-story house. I contacted five plumbing firms before Express agreed to send a team out - very few plumbing companies will work from a second story roof (or any roof). The tricky problem was compounded by the curved walls of the house, which made setting up the ladder very difficult. The 20-foot ladder was also too short to reach the roof. Johnny used his Army skills to rappel up the final distance and worked very hard to get the drains cleared out. He said he liked challenges, and this was certainly one for several reasons. I am grateful for his ingenuity and his perseverance. He and Derrick were very nice to work with. If I could give them ten stars, I would. read more

My parents live in Burlingame CA, while I was up visiting, they had a plumbing emergency, I was sort of bummed but hey, things happen. My dad asked me to call this company at 9 pm at night, I was shocked when somebody answered, an actual live person! I was getting ready to leave a message, so the girl on the line and I started laughing cause I really wasn't expecting anyone. Randy I think it was came out within an hour, and took care of it. We had a leak under the kitchen sink, and one of the pipes got busted, by the time we noticed it there was water all over the floor. The plumber was nice, quick, did a good job and we went back to normal within an hour. I was glad it was dealt with so quickly, cause I was up north to have some fun and didn't want to be stuck in the house dealing with it all day. We used this company for our home and while I dont typically write reviews I had to say something about this one. The worker who showed up was complete trash to say the least. I didnt even want him in our home, but we needed help so I told him the problem and 2 hours later and a very sloppy and incomplete job later I paid him. The prices are far too high for such a low end company and truly the company itself should be for emergencies only. The issue was not resolved after the worker left so I called Express Plumbing to speak to the management/owner. You can not imagine the people who run this place. They spoke TERRIBLE English and I think the man I spoke to even cursed while we were on the phone. The owners of this place might even be more low end than the workers themselves. We had a pipe burst in the the garage of our townhouse and what a problem. Alarms went off, fire department arrives to turn off the water for the complex, and suddenly none of our neighbors have water and none of us have protection from our spelunkers system, and our garage is totally flooded. It was about 7pm. We called several plumbers and ExpressPlumbing said yes and sent Amin. Without a doubt is the best plumper we have ever met. He took a look at the pipe, brought our his equipment, stopped the leak, put in a new pipe segment, and waited while the firedeparment came back to restart the water. Even the firemen were impressed ---asked what he did and said our lucky we were to have him! He is charming, efficient, smart, and really nice. Amin is a total professional. I called them on an emergency over the week-end. The tech showed up when he said and did an emergency fix. the tech told us that someone would come out on Monday to inspect the line. On Monday the estimator from the company came out and did a video on our line. He showed us on his camera that the drain line had was damaged. He gave us an estimate to replace the line by pulling a new drain line through the old line. I called another plumbing company to look at it and their estimate was twice as much and they told me that I would have to dig up my yard and driveway. These guys tried to rip me off. The plumber that came to my house was a dim-wit, and also rude. He fabricated things that were wrong with my drain, including that it had collapsed, etc. He must think I am as stupid as he is, because he tried to convince me that I had to pay him hundreds of dollars more than what was necessary. After a combative exchange, he left. The next week I hired a competent plumber, who fixed my drain problem for $50 and it's worked great ever since then. read more

The owner is a douche who thinks he's all that. He is very rude, I complained about the service I received and oh boy did he run his mouth. I don't know what I was expecting since he can't even pay his bills and refuses to take that kind of responsibility on his account in a gas station. At no point did I feel pressured to move forward. We discussed pricing openly, and with Juan also providing input, they offered a very reasonable final quote. Because of their approach and professionalism, I ended up having them take care of several additional items that weren't originally planned. They identified the root cause of the issues as high water pressure and installed a pressure-reducing valve outside the house. After Hector left, I noticed a small issue and he returned promptly to address it. I really appreciated the commitment, transparency, and quality of work, and would confidently recommend this business for plumbing needs.

The pump he installed and the work he did cost us $1800 tankless water heater would've been at least $5000. He was easy to work with on time very easy to get along with. We had him back again to put in a new showerhead and valve assembly and unplugged a sink. He response almost immediately when we call him we will be using him again I'm sure.

Mariano Lemus communicates well by both text and phone and was always responsive throughout the process. Visit #1 involved removing bathroom sink faucets so I could have my countertop repaired. During that same visit, Francisco evaluated a leaking shower valve in my guest bathroom. He explained that because of the age of the valve, there was a possibility the wall might need to be opened and the entire valve assembly replaced. However, he first wanted to try replacing the shower cartridges. On visit #2, the bathroom sink faucets were replaced, and Francisco successfully replaced both shower cartridges entirely from the shower side of the wall -- saving me thousands of dollars by avoiding the need to open the wall and replace the entire valve assembly. Visit #3 involved replacing a cartridge in an existing ROHL shower valve. Again, there was concern that if the old cartridge could not be properly removed, it might require opening the wall and removing tile to replace the valve. Mariano and Francisco were able to complete the repair successfully, replace the old cartridge, and now the shower works perfectly. I'm a retired construction superintendent/OSHPD inspector, so I understand construction means and methods and have a very critical eye for workmanship and attention to detail. Lemus Plumbing has experienced technicians who clearly know their trade and take pride in doing things the right way. They are knowledgeable, professional, efficient, and simply excellent plumbers. I selected Lemus Plumbing after reading referrals and reviews myself, and I hope my experience helps the next homeowner confidently choose them for their plumbing needs.
