When I showed him a carpet I'd found online, he didn't really try to help or explain options; it felt like he just wanted to move me along. He repeatedly pointed out that the carpets I was considering were "cheap," and when he mentioned another one was around $4,000, it came with a "well, that's expensive -- what's your budget?" tone rather than an attempt to genuinely guide me. I went in because I'm not an expert and wanted knowledgeable advice, but I left feeling unwelcome and talked down to, which was disappointing given the positive reviews I had read beforehand.

In addition, there's no way an online rug store could provide any of this excellent customer service. The Oriental Carpet is the only store for superb customer service and stunning rugs!

A measuring technician came out, took all the dimensions, and directed us to the 1020 W. San Carlos location to review their full carpet selection. At the store, we explained what we were looking for, compared carpet features and pricing, and worked with Dominic--who was very accommodating. His total project cost was competitive with the other quotes we received. We also wanted new baseboards that would match our freshly painted walls and trim. Dominic arranged to have the primed (but unpainted) 16' wood baseboards delivered ahead of installation, giving us time to paint everything before the carpet went in. Tip Our new carpet and pad are very soft and plush--great underfoot, especially on the stairs. Because the new flooring sits higher than the original laminate, our bedroom doors needed to be trimmed by about half an inch. We cut the doors ourselves, but it's worth asking whether your installer can include that as part of the project. Pros * Dominic is a true carpeting professional--he anticipated our needs and offered thoughtful guidance throughout the process. * Both the wood and carpet installation teams did solid, quality work. Cons * Some door trim was scuffed as the installers maneuvered large carpet rolls through our narrow hallway and doorways, so a bit of repainting was needed afterward.

Even with all that money, they stopped answering my phone calls as to the status of my rug. Then it turns out that the owner who I had been dealing with is on an extended trip to India. 40 unanswered txts and phone calls. I had to eventually drive the 50 miles and two bridges in search of my rug. The drive revealed that nothing had been done, my rug still where I last saw it on the showroom floor, even though a two week turn around was promised as the rug needed to go into a shipping container in our move. Now with a 40 foot container waiting for the run the man in the menlo park show room says he doesn't know anything. Not a business to trust. Not people to trust. On a scale of one to ten. The next business day (Monday) he came to do the measurements and the wood was delivered the next day itself The install was done by Guven and his team who were very easy to work with yet very proficient. All throughout the 4 day project Eugene and Guven kept me abreast each morning of what they plan to cover that day and then at the end of the day, what was done and what will be done the following day Equally importantly, the crew made sure that the work site was cleant up at the end of every day and Guven stayed late the final day to make sure that every small detail was taken care of This is a A team from start to finish both technically and interpersonally (Eugene and Guven are both very personable), it is by good fortune that I found Menlo Flooring (as I stay 30 mins away in the South Bay) and I look forward to working with them again in the future Thanks Menlo Flooring for making my bedroom floors look so good (pics attached)
