Not worth going to to unless you're very hungry, but that's my opinion. I've eaten here a few times, because friends are satisfied with the place and I get dragged into going. Food is below average but not horrible. They use cheap margarine instead of butter, cheap corn syrup instead of maple syrup. And their coffee taste like cheap diner coffee. Service is below average in that you have to be nice and friendly to get them to do anything for you (it should be the other way around). Otherwise, they are standing around chatting with each other. While the diner was clean, service took a VERY long time. My friends were impressed with their cinnamon french toast, but I hated my egg white omelet. An omelet is supposed to be egg on the outside, and veggies, meat and cheese on the inside, but I basically got scrambled eggs. read more

I highly recommend you find another place to get breakfast. We waited nearly 45 minutes for the most painfully average plate of eggs i've ever consumed. I'm a little surprised at all these lukewarm reviews, because this past Sunday Stella's passed my patented Hungover and Angry test with flying colors. Walked right in, sat down at the counter, coffee was never empty and I didn't think it was particularly weak at all. Really good Eggs Blackstone on the special list, good homefries, we were waited on within minutes and the food didn't take long. This four star rating is for *breakfast* At breakfast, when hungover and angry, you need a few things immediately: you need to be able to sit down immediately, you need fluids and service as soon as you sit down, you need the check dropped while you are finishing your breakfast, so you can get out of there and continue your quest to try and feel human again. I've been here a few times- both in my younger days, after major drinking sessions and recently, just stopping in (I live pretty close to it now.) The place is A-OK. The coffee is terrible, which sucks because there's a sign outside specifically stating "NO OUTSIDE BEVERAGES." Ah well. The food I've ordered has always been fine- a bit on the bland side. Their menu is pretty big, and they have decent specials. The service is what you'd expect from a place looking like it's stuck in 1985. I don't think I'd definitely seek this place out, but if you're in the area, it's not a bad place to get an omlet. read more

We tried to bring the kids to IHop Quincy (by their request) and there was a 30 minute wait so we headed to Milton to eat at Stella's. Every time we've gone here we are able to sit down right away which was a huge plus with 2 little girls. Of course the girls' eyes are bigger than their stomachs so I try to get them to split a meal which the staff was willing to accommodate. Depending on what you get it can take a little time before you are served. The food and the portions are good which is what you would expect from a local greasy spoon. read more

I love this place. We're going through a never-ending kitchen renovation so we haven't been able to cook at home in months and we come to Stella's for our weekend breakfasts. It's no frills and just good home cooking. It's cash only (so smart for small businesses to avoid the crazy credit card fees) and if you forget, they have an ATM inside. read more

Average at best. Had the steak omelette after being told that the corned beef hash is out of a can the steak had a distinct steamed flavor and my omelette was a bit on the dry side my server was pleasant she kept my coffee filled but it didn't redeem the overall quality of the meal. read more

Decent food...good service. The waitress was nice but tried a little too hard or something...also I was with a friend and she saw me on my cell phone and said "I will come back when you are off your phone." So now my friend is saying to me..."Stay off your phone...I'm hungry." Is there a diner rule saying I can't make a call...LOL! I could have easily put the phone down when she came to take my order...tell her what I wanted and finish my call...I thought it was weird and felt like a hostage of sorts....I went outside to finish call as my friend put in our orders but it was odd...never heard that one before... Ugh. Pretty inedible. I asked for crispy bacon it was limp and soggy. My husbands corn beef hash tasted burnt and like it was cooked in rancid oil. Hash browns, tasteless. The french toast was ok. Nothing special. Too bad, as there's only one other breakfast place in milton. read more

My family likes to come here for breakfast. It's a diner style place so nothing fancy. The waitresses are always so sweet and dote on my young son. It can get crazy busy on the weekends so you may have to wait a while for a table but over all we like. :) read more

Unbelievable pancakes finn. french toast and eggs omeletes!!! They use top quality food products and have daily lunch specials, from homemade beef stew, american chop suey to steak tips and fried haddock,and scollops (ETC.)on friday and saturday. Its a must stop in if your in the area or really worth taking a ride! Family owned and operated with fast and friendly waitstaff always smiling!!!!! What has happened to Stella's?? We used to come for quick, good breakfast on the weekends, always enjoyed it. The past two times, about a month ago and again today, we waited an hour after giving our orders, got no food, limited coffee service, no apology. Today, we gave up after 50 minutes, paid for our coffees (she didn't even offer to comp them, and did not apologize!), and left. We won't try again. Too bad. read more

i used to be a huge fan of Stella's-was there every Saturday before kids, and then once a month or so after I had them. The staff was friendly, food was good, and it was a relaxing and stress free place to have breakfast. That was before... One day on a Saturday in January, I went to Stellas with my 3 sisters to celebrate our birthdays. One of my sisters had spotted a mouse near the coat rack and quietly told our waitress about her sighting. We had our breakfast and sat and chatted with each other. I excused myself to use the restroom and when I came out, our waitress approached me and told me how nice I was, how I was in Stella's a lot, and how friendly I was. I thanked her and thought maybe she was going to try to sell me a raffle ticket or something. Boy! Was I wrong!! She went on to tell me that the last time I was at Stella's, I forgot to pay my bill. Then she went over and got a different waitress who said that she was the waitress on the day in question and that she had held onto the check for 2 months hoping I would return to Stella's. Needless to say, I was embarrassed! I asked her what happened, and she went on to say that it was a slow day and that I had not left enough money to cover the bill, but had left enough to cover the tip! I was dumbfounded. She showed me 'the bill' which was not dated, and which had 2 orders on it: french toast/bacon and coffee and 2 scrambled/bacon and toast. I told her that I did not remember leaving the bill unpaid but that I would settle with her even though I had never NOT paid a tab in my life! I left a $20 on our table and she came over to us again, and asked me if I was 'okay with it"--to which I replied, "Actually, I am totally embarrassed by everything." She kept saying, "Oh, I feel bad; don't be upset, ok? Ok?" ( I just wanted to run out of the place.) She then picked up the bill from our breakfasts and left the $20 I had just given her to settle my old bill on the table. My sister said, "Don't you want to take the $20 so you can buy some mousetraps?" She looked really stunned and it was obvious that she forgot about the 'visitor' that my sister saw when we first sat down. I vowed to never return to Stella's and I haven't. I was so disappointed that they would handle this in this manner. I was a customer for over 20 years, and I was always Stella's biggest cheerleader and loyal patron. I was thinking as I drove home about what the waitress said: "I remember you because it was a slow day." If it was so 'slow", why didn't she run after me to pay the bill? By the way, I contacted my two friends who had been with me on the two previous visits to Stella's to ask them about it. Yes, I had ordered the french toast-but neither friend had 2 scrambled eggs--it wasn't even my check!!! I have since found a new girl in my life for breakfast--"EMMA'S" on Willard Street near Home Depot in Quincy. Emma's food is great, and the service is friendly and prompt!!
