Starting this review with the most important note - cash only. Yes, there is an ATM inside but it's got a fee. Just bring cash. When you walk in, it's been a seat yourself kind of atmosphere. The first area you see is a little bar type of area with stools to sit at. The rest of this quaint little place is spacious enough between tables. Two restrooms available. Of the three time I've gone there has only been one waitress taking care of everyone... but she's great and attentive just the same. The food is pretty decent for the price, it's not anything that is particularly out of this world, but you won't have any complaints and you'll be well fed. I requested the bacon extra crispy and was thankful it wasn't floppy. The pancake was nice and airy, the scrambled eggs were fine. Not a big fan of the home fries but that's just personal preference based on the potato type they use. I will definitely return. read more

They close pretty early too so make sure you check their opening hours. My favorites include the eggs blackstone benedict and it comes with bacon and tomato which I prefer over the traditional Canadian bacon that it usually comes with. The saltiness from the crispy bacon and tanginess from the tomato work magically together. The delicious hollandaise sauce on top just brings it all together. I also really enjoy their spuds & scram and Irish breakfast are both really good as well. Their strawberry French toast is great too. We decided to give this place a try because Wheelhouse Diner and Newcomb both closed early. Our go-to dish to order at breakfast places would be an Irish benedict (benedict with corned beef hash). It wasn't on the menu but I asked the waitress if it was possible, she just nodded yes and wrote down the two orders. She did not tell us that there was going to be an extra charge to get corned beef hash - didn't find out until the end where she wrote $10 extra charge. Honestly, if we had known, we wouldn't have ordered it with our benedicts because it came out a little soggy, we honestly would have just ordered a side of corned beef hash in hopes of it being more crispy. The taste of everything was normal, it wasn't amazing so we'd probably stick to the other two diners since it can save us that extra charge no soggy corned beef hash. As for service, the "host" literally didn't even say anything to us when we walked in even though he was standing right by the door folding up napkins and forks. A hello to seem welcoming wouldn't hurt or just to simply say out loud that we can sit anywhere we like. He then proceeds to hand us the menus very unprofessionally and was not very greeting. We got the Breakfast Specials #1, 3, and 8 and by all accounts, were very tasty. Eggs were cooked as how we liked them. Pancakes were fluffy and warm. Toast was buttery. Sausages were also delicious with a slight crisp to it. Bacon was a little off but that's okay. Good atmosphere when we came in at around 8am. Not my first time here but definitely won't be my last! Great service with some good food for a decent price. One thing to take note of is that this place is good for a party between 2-4 people. Anything more than that, you will have some difficulty sitting together. The food was delicious. The staff was very attentive to every small need. Veterans Day, 2016... OB's Cafe advertises "veterans eat for free"... my wife and I go and eat a modest breakfast. I am a proud veteran.... wearing my flight jacket and US Navy ball cap. We get the bill and I have to ask the waitress about the "veterans eat for free" you know because of the big sign in their window... to bring in customers... because they are such great people at OB's Cafe... no, they wanted to see my veteran's ID card. To which I reply, "I'm a veteran... I did 4 years active duty and 4 in the reserves with an Honorable Discharge that makes me a veteran," and they don't give you an ID card when you're discharged, but I suppose I should have a notorized copy of my DD-214 on hand. People started looking at this point; one younger couple offered to pay... no, I have money, thank you, it was the principle of OB's Cafe advertising and then not coming through at the expense of veterans. The waitress, who was getting ticked off said, sorry but we need an ID. I reminded them of their sign on the window... so, maybe they really meant to have a sign that said "Active Duty with ID eat free". Either way, the waitress kind of went back and forth with her boss and she ended up feeling bad and said she give me 10 percent off. Big F'ing deal. No, screw OB's Cafe. I'm one step away from calling Maura Healy's office to register a formal complaint. I will never recommend anyone give OB's Cafe their business due to the way OB's Cafe hoses veterans so OB's Cafe can cash in. Reprehensible! read more

I went here on the Fourth of July, and although it was busy, there was some seating available. I think it is easier to seat smaller parties than large because of its small location. I only noticed two waitresses working that day so there was a bit of a wait to grab their attention. Will probably come back on a regular day to see how service is then! Every time my sophisticated, South End leaning boyfriend skips town, I slip on my finest pair of sweatpants, and my crispiest Sox hat, and head to O.B.'s Things to know: This ain't exactly fine French cuisine, it's not even your Grandma's Sunday morning pancakes. This is DINER food. $5 gets you an egg, two pieces of toast, home fries, and your choice of bacon, ham or sausage. Breakfast sandwiches are $3, pancakes $6-7. Eggs are generally cooked perfectly, sausage appears to be homemade; lumpy and misshapen, but delicious! Coffee is watered down, but not offensive - stick with your instincts - more cream is always better. Staff are friendly albeit a bit old school. Expect to be called "honey" and "sweet cheeks" more than you've ever been called before. Don't be bogged down by social niceties like following normal dinner hours. Some dude rolled in at 10 am and ordered meatloaf with a side of "vegetable melody." He seemed really pleased. Place is clean and decorated with old Irish stuff and Quincy paraphernalia. O.B's also appears to be a Quincy police hangout - so don't be surprised if a whole squadron comes in. read more

This is a fun little 'Cash Only' diner. I noticed a lot of locals hang out there to talk about whats going on in the town. I sat down, and they offered me the house newspaper while I ate my lunch. The food is descent. The coffee is hot. Everyone is really friendly. I got a cup of cofee, a BLT and fries. The total was 7.67, so no complaints with the price. We love to go out fo a family breakfast on the weekend and my husband was looking for a simple diner experience. OB's fits the bill. It is a small, local place with very friendly staff. Portions are large and all my meals have been good (eggs Benedict, French toast Irish breakfast etc. ). There is lots of parking in he area and a school playground down the road if you have kids with you. Two things to keep In mind: 1) This is a cash-only restaurant 2) The Restaurant is small and cozy, but this means it can get a little crowded on the weekends. Tables are set up for 2 or 4. We are a family of 6, so while we manage to squeeze in, it can't get a little cramped. The service is fast though, so we have never had to wait long for a table, or for our food after we are seated. read more
