I had a very scary experience here. Note that you are not able to see a doctor unless you comply with both a panoramic x-ray and a set of bitewing x-rays. This is a total of about eight x-rays. It does not matter if you come with x-rays from your previous provider, and if they are recent. You cannot schedule a cleaning without the step because they insist on examining your teeth first. This makes me uncomfortable because it is a business decision and not a health decision and it is decided before you ever see a provider. Once you get the x-rays, the dentist gets results that are fed through AI software that provides a color-coded map of your teeth. They use this to tell you where you need various fillings. Based on the use of the software, I was told that I needed eight fillings. I did not have any teeth pain. I did not find this to be accurate or in line with what my previous dentist found and asked for a reevaluation with a different dentist at the same location. The second dentist indicated that some of the proposed cavities were artifacts from the software (anomalies in my teeth unrelated to decay), and that all others were not serious enough to immediately treat, but could be watched while I use a special medicated toothpaste. I am happy with my current dentist doctor Kang Who provided reevaluation at no cost, but I am very disturbed that the initial Dr advised drilling into eight of my teeth prior to this reevaluation. I would not trust any information drawn from this software. The office staff at the desk were very kind to me and helped me to schedule the second evaluation. read more

Never EVER use their texting service. I had 2 appointments scheduled. I confirmed the appointment for the 17th and wanted to reschedule the appointment for the 19th. I arrived today and they canceled the wrong appointment and said there was nothing they could do about it. I need this tooth done ASAP otherwise it will need a retreat which I cannot afford or I will have to lose it and look like a crackhead. I checked my texts and it very clearly shows that I confirmed the appointment for today and responded to the next appointment to reschedule. I had to request off from work two months ago to be able to come to this appointment and they always are booking at least two months out. They completely screwed me and I am NEVER going back. Currently bawling my eyes out STAY FAR AWAY FROM STELLAR DENTAL. I am in disbelief of the treatment I received there. I am a very high anxiety person when it comes to surgical things of any sort and I insisted on this several times. I was absolutely terrified to get 3 of my wisom teeth out today. I have one that is badly decayed, and the other 2 they suggested I get out at the same time because, why not. I was also terrified of getting 'Conscious IV sedation'. I went in the office today where Dr Ahmed El-Halaby pretended to be supportive and friendly and calm me down. First of all, whenever I get shots or blood taken, it comforts me to watch them do it so I know exactly when to expect the needle to go in. I lifted my head to watch him put in the IV, he told me to put my head down so I didn't have to watch. I told him I would like to, and he literally SCREAMED "ANGELA PUT YOUR HEAD DOWN I SAID!" I was so terrified at that point, tears started streaming down my face. And I knew that the kind, understanding staff was a facade at that point. Next thing I knew, I was being walked out. They were claiming that I said a 'swear word' while I was under sedation and therefore the doctor was uncomfortable & they were kicking me out. (Even though my mouth was being held wide open with a device, they managed to make out a 'swear word') They had removed one of my good wisdom teeth, but NOT the one that needed to be removed, not the decayed tooth. Obviously I do not recall any of the procedure as I was sedated. Also, never once before the procedure did they inform me that if a patient swears while sedated they will be removed. My best friend ended up telling me that while he was in the waiting room, the front office staff was panicking because they had forgotten to get my procedure authorized with the insurance. Now I am at home, numb, bleeding, bawling my eyes out after stressing over this day for weeks, missed a day of work, all because - I believe- they realized they may not get paid because they forgot to get an authorization, & they thought of a way to BLAME me (Because they knew I wouldn't rememeber), kick me out, and now I have to go through this all over again. I called the office and spoke with Lisa. I asked her "so you're telling me, no one has ever sworn while under sedation before?" She told me no. I asked her "so I swore, completely under sedation, so my procedure was not completed and I was kicked out?" She said yes. One of the most awful experiences of my life. Absolutely disgusting organization! Just flat-out wrong!! I wish there was something I could do about this. read more

The Stellar Dental Care at 2929 Sheridan Drive, Tonawanda, NY 14150 has state of the art (brand new) equipment, but some of the staff has problems? The dentist claims the camera's all over are so he can work on you in any room? So why doesn't he work on me in the waiting room? I gave the Asian receptionist my license as ID but she decided to throw away the paper sleeve protecting my license. When I asked for it back, she said she threw it away and got very offended because I wanted it back, She gave it back but then put my birthdate off by one day in their computer and NOT one person will change it? Every time I visit there the Dentist goes on and on about how he loves his daughter and there is no one else in his life? I really don't want to hear about him loving and having sex with his daughter?! During one of my visit's the dentist told me to take my coat off and kept me busy while his assistant went threw the pocket's of my coat. Dr. Margo Mccumber is awful. She is impatient, gets frustrated easily, and is shows no empathy toward her patients concerns. It's like she's too high and mighty, kept asking me what I would like her to do because her solutions were not helping. Just rude. Overall my experience was really good. When calling for an appointment they were able to get me in really fast. Showed up and instead of filling out the million sheets you just go to a computer and fill it out all there. Like the green aspect of it. Took my back to the room where I would be getting my cleaning and there was a TV that was adjustable for me to watch while getting my cleaning! I thought that was really cool. My dental hygienist was really nice and explained everything to me. When the dentist came in he was also very friendly. I had one cavity that needed to be filled, at my old dentist they do it right then so it was kind of annoying to have to go back in to get it filled. The one down fall was when I was checking out. The lady that I was dealing with was very rude to not only mean but other workers and it made me feel uncomfortable. She was no help on scheduling my appointment and answering my questions. Horrible dentistry. Treatment plan is presented and then went to another dentist that said they are completely wrong. They will tell you what insurance will cover upfront but then send you a bill that conflicts with the upfront conversation. Called 5 times to get xrays sent to orthodontist. Never sent. These people have extremely difficult to work. I went in 2 years ago asked to have all my teeth out do to many problem I have. They said some could be saved. When they stared the work they would try something then say oh no this is not working we have to pull out. Now 2 years later all my teeth are gone.(since Nov2014). I called the Hamburg location on a Saturday asking for them to re-cement a crown that fell off. The woman who answered the phone told me since I was a new patient they would have to do a cleaning and X-rays then bring me back. I asked if a dentist could just see me on an emergency basis. She said I could come in and asked for my insurance information. Then she said since the insurance office was closed they didn't know if they would get paid and so I couldn't come in. Um what?! She really just refused my appointment because she couldn't reach my insurance company even though she could see I was actively enrolled! Why couldn't I just sign a waiver that I would pay if the insurance company didn't pay? I think I'm good for the $40 re-cement charge! They just lost me as a new patient. read more

Botch job by Dr. Kim, multiple issues with two front teeth. Immediate issue with ability to swallow, had to wait 2 weeks for appt to correct! One tooth stuck out further than the other, sanding it down helped a little; color appeared solid (rather than a more natural tooth tone) and shades lighter than other teeth made them more prominent; mis-shapen, large and left a hole at the top. Told teeth would need to be larger to fix hole, which increased swallowing issue and created a prb with upper lip. Dr. Kim provided a retainer I'd need to wear all the time to cover the hole. She suggested surgery to correct lip prb, useless unless hole was corrected. Multiple subsequent calls requesting a consult with Dr. Kim to review corrective options were left unanswered. Went to Applegate Dental, work was redone, teeth straight, hole gone and color matches other teeth with a natural translucent tone. I can finally smile again! Go to a good dentist. Cost of service was @ $2500, no bargain, felt like I had buck teeth, cost was comparable to have it done properly. read more

Awful customer service. The dentist I had was rude and take very little time even looking over my teeth. When I came back for another appointment my card said 5. When they called to confirm they told me 5 and when I asked them to tell me how much my new total would be (insurance change) she audibly scoffed and said she wouldn't know until she put it in the system. When I got to the appointment I checked in and they said nothing to me. I arrived at 4:40 for the appointment and sat and watched 3 other people who arrived later. When I went to the desk I asked when I would be seen since other have gone in. They told me my appointment was at 5:20. I then sat for an additional 15 minutes before been seen. I highly suggest staying away from "franchised" dentist and stick to small mom and pop shops. These places are a rip off and could care less about their patients. read more

I have been to the Cheektowaga location the most and I thought at first it was a really nice and clean dentist. The office was updated and welcoming. My first issue was the office manager was very rude and made me feel comfortable. She never smiled or had a welcoming attitude and would sit there twirling her hair while your trying to make an appointment for the last 15 min and you just want to go home after having a filling done. I had to have a wisdom tooth pulled and was sent to this location and after an 1 hour and 45 min I left with a broken tooth, cut up lips and in lots of pain. The dentist had broken my tooth whiling "attempting" (later found out that he didn't think he would be able to get it out at all ). I was assured by the dentist that I wouldn't need any type of heavy medicine after getting my tooth pulled since I have little kids and I need to be able to care for them. But after the attempt of getting my tooth pulled I had to be put on some heavy medicine and had to have my tooth pulled from an oral surgeon which made my healing process take even longer. I understand situations happen but I was guaranteed that I would be fine and he would be able to pull it without a problem. I have never experienced so much pain after having a cleaning, a filing or a tooth pulled that I decided to never go back again since no I didn't feel comfortable dealing with the office manager and comfortable after having my teeth worked on. read more

The worst........ They were fine for a simple cleaning and that's it! When it comes to any thing else choose another dentist.My tooth is still hurting 2 months later for what they did. And I just had to get it redone by another dentist because I almost got an infection in my front tooth. The dentist at steller dental never explained to me that she was going to have to cut my gums by my front tooth and that it could take 2 weeks to heal! Well that was just the beginning. It was suppose to be a simple fixing a spot on my tooth on the outside. I didn't think they would be doing what they did and not tell me. When I was done she let me leave with a bloody tooth and did not give me anything to use to help me heal my gums. She didn't explain to me what she did to my tooth she left and had her assistant finish up. Then when I was crying asking why this happend and why this would take 2 weeks to heal they didn't explain why.So I went back after 2 weeks for a check up, I was so upset because my gums look torn up and hurt so bad so she finally gave me this terrible rinse for my mouth. Then she said it could be another month to heal! I'm like what did u do to my gums I told you I wanted to walk in and leave the same way. Well she said they had to make sure nothing was under my tooth etc.it was a night mare. So I went back another week in a half later and said it still hurt she said it looks better than she thought it would! Really you did this to me! So she says another couple months! She said it was healing beautifully! Well it didn't look it end I was in pain. Went to another dentist one that was suppose to be a great dentist and was! (not at steller) and he knew right away they messed up! He had to redo the bonding on my front tooth and said my gums would never heal because the bonding wasn't smoothed and sealed and food was causing more irritation! Well the few days before steller said it was great!! This dentist was amazing and fixed the mistake I never should of got from steller. I wouldn't go to them. I had to start the healing process all over again because they didn't do the job right. My gums are still cut up but healing. It was a nightmare. It doesn't deserve even one star but they made me chose one. And to top it off I cancelled a appt with them in the morning of same day and they sent me a letter saying I would owe $75 for not showing up and that I should of called,well I called in the morning to cancel. Professional, high tech, clean environment. I bought a groupon for Cleaning, xrays, and take home tooth whitening. Amazing deal. However, like another reviewer said....they wouldn't give me my whitening kit package until I got a cavity fixed. At a highly over priced rate. I knew I had just been to my family dentist and truly did not believe I had a cavity. I went here because I didnt have a lot of money and it was a huge deal. I didnt have the money to fix this so called cavity. And it was the principle of it. I thought I was being scammed. I asked them to email my xrays to my local dentist for him to give hos opinion. I honestly dodnt think they'd release them to him but they did. He said there was nothing there. I called the office back, and told them what my dentist said. I received a call back from the actual dentist at stellar and he claimed that he had a really keen eye and sees thing most other dentists cant. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??! In the end he agreed to do the moulds and give me the teeth whitening kit. Aside from the scam, all the hygienists I dealt wih with were super professional, nice and thorough. There was definitely some sales yactics involved though. I don't know if it's only the groupon people who are being scammed or if its all the clients in general. But basically, beware. If I hadnt been determined, it wouldve been a $250 appointment on top of the $39 Groupon for something I DIDNT need. Dont let them pressure you. read more

This past Thursday I had an appointment for a cleaning and checkup at Stellar dental in Williamsville on transit road across from the eastern hills mall. While the hygienist was cleaning my teeth the suction apparatus got caught under my tongue on one of the glands. OUCH! I'm waving my hand, the hygienist says what's wrong? Then starts pulling it off! I yell and she tells me to stay calm. Then she has someone bring her surgical scissors to cut or loosen the suction piece from my gland. She was able to do this without hurting me. So I'm grateful. Stellar Dental sent me a survey to complete through rateabiz.com however they did not post the review. Overall the hygienist did a good job cleaning my teeth. But I'm terrified to go back. Furthermore I need 3 fillings done and the price they quoted me was almost $700. It had been three years since my last dental appointment. Needless to say my beautiful smile faded when handed the prices. Not worth the money. I was saddened by my experience there. read more

I recently became a patient at Stellar and I am proud to say that I am no longer afraid to go to the dentist!!! I had a great experience due to one of the gals, Michelle, taking the time to answer my questions and assuring me that the DR would take good care of me. When I arrived for my appointment Michelle greeted me with a huge smile and welcomed me to the practice. She remembered what I told her on the phone and again provided support and encouragement; very professional, well spoken and clearly cares about the patients. The office was well maintained and the medical staff were friendly. At checkout Michelle again gave me a huge smile, asked me how my visit went and took the time to review my care plan. Unfortunately the other checkout girl wasn't nearly as friendly and didn't seem to have much energy or desire to be there. Dr Mitchell was GREAT also; very polite and took the time to do a thorough exam! He made me feel at ease and not embarrassed about my teeth! If you want a great experience when making an appointment ask for Michelle and Dr Mitchell! read more
