They never told me even though I had gone back for multiple appointments so it ended up going to collections. I called to ask how much my next appointment was going to be the day of and good thing I did because I reached the limit on my insurance and it was going to be $1000, again no one told me. I called to ask how much my filling would be and the front desk person grunted in annoyance and after being on hold for a few mins she came back and said she would have to call me back. Guess what they never did! The dentist herself is a little ruff and has little bedside manner but is really fast. Since I have some anxiety going to the dentist I didnt mind.

The initial cleaning was one of the roughest I've ever had--my gums were left bleeding and sore. They also did a panoramic X-ray to check my wisdom teeth, which I had to pay for entirely out of pocket since I didn't have insurance at the time. Fast forward to my six-month checkup: the appointment was rescheduled at the last minute, which I appreciated them accommodating. But once I arrived, I was told my new insurance wasn't accepted. I just wanted a basic cleaning, but they insisted on bitewing X-rays. I explained that I couldn't afford them and asked if they were optional. The hygienist left to ask the dentist, who then came in and reiterated what the hygienist had already told me. When I asked again if the X-rays were optional, I was told yes--but the dentist simply walked out, and the hygienist showed me the door. It was a very uncomfortable experience, especially after being upfront about financial concerns. I left without receiving any care at all. Overall, it felt like the focus was more on upselling than on patient care. I don't recommend this office.

I called Suburban Family Dental and told them about my situation. I had been waiting weeks for a filling and then suddenly my old dentist cancelled my appointment. This office was able to accomodate my situation and get me in as a new patient within just a few days. I was able to get the filling I had been waiting for and it was totally painless. Since I have used them for my regular cleanings I have had no cavities. The hygienists have always been gentle. The woman who is the receptionist is way more than a receptionist. She is great about getting you an appointment when you need one, she has done a fitting for me for a mouth guard and she helped me pick an insurance plan out that would be friendly with their office. Dr. Ortolano is quick with his exams but very thorough. I have recommended this place to others also and have only heard great reviews.

They even have a new addition - Ralph, a mini golden doodle who is being trained to be a therapy dog to help patients to calm them and lay on their laps during cleanings and procedures!
