We chose this place because it had pretty good reviews, so I was excited to come here. Sunday morning 9:00 a.m. we sit down at a table because there are table tents with the little QR code that says order and pay at the table. so we ordered our food paid , left a tip and sat at the table. It was really really cold in there so I went up to the counter to get my coffee at least while we waited for our food. As I was standing there waiting to get my coffee, I see a hand written sign that says sorry kitchen is closed today no food. I find this curious as we were easily able to order food and nobody had said anything, so I thought maybe perhaps the store just hadn't changed or taken down an old sign I went ahead and got my coffee which is very good by the way, and asked about the sign. Sure enough kitchen is closed today the food we ordered would not be coming. I don't know how long it would have taken them to bring this to our attention since we were already waiting a good clip for my coffee. Somebody came to the table and said I can refund your credit card or give you cash, we said whatever was easier. The total of our food was $18 and we left a 15% tip bringing it up to $22. The Person came back with cash , $15, instead of refunding our card. She charged me for the coffee which I have no problem with it, but she went ahead and kept the $4 tip as well. That I have a problem with. I really don't want to leave a bad review, because there's no telling what the reason was that they were not able to serve food today, but the fact that it was stupid cold in there that I had to wait for my cup of coffee, then that I had to ask about the food and then she kept the $4 tip is what is giving them the bad review. Sorry y'all, you should rethink your business practices read more

Authentic coffee house vibe Amazing place to sit and chill with friends great place for a date and the perfect staff to match. The parking is a little tight like small alley way that leads to parking in the back shared with other businesses Not much of an outdoor area but near all the downtown hot spots. read more

We stopped here for a quick coffee break while passing through Lake Charles. Their coffee menu is amazing. We all got different things and loved all of it! Stellar Iced Coffee (with milk and hazelnut) - amazing and smooth taste! Must go to if you are into semi sweet iced drink! 1704- another amazing item with 3 shots of espresso pulled in tandem with mocha powder and some whipped milk. Not sweet at all but has a slight sweetness to it. It is pretty strong. Definitely recommend for a slow drink. What this place has unique about it- is that they sell cute local artwork, pottery, cards. The place is perfect for grabbing a to stay drink and food or to go and if you choose to stay they have plenty of seating and some couches to lounge around! read more

This coffee shop made a lot of changes to comply with new COVID regulations as well as thoughtful touches, like offering free PPE at entry. Their ham, egg, and cheese with avocado and spinach on an english muffin was perfect, and the chai was spicy. Contactless payment and takeaway was easy, and the conversation in between is why I keep going back. Be sure to stop by if you happen to be downtown. read more

I don't go by here as much as I would like to. The atmosphere is nice, very chic and artsy, with tables or comfy couches to sit on. I've never had anything off the lunch menu, only the coffee and beignets, but I hear it is very good and will definitely try some my next time around. The beignets aren't the traditional french version as you would find at somewhere like Cafe Du Monde, but they are scrumptious and you sure get a bunch of them, hard to finish a whole order. Good item to share with another person while sipping coffee. They do a lot of in-house cooking but I believe the kitchen here is tied to Luna Bar & Grill somehow or another. I like the addition of Stellar Beans to downtown Lake Charles and I hope they do well in that location. If street parking is full, there is a lot in the back you can park in and walk up. Overall, a great place that I would recommend. read more

Not only is this a great place to work, Stellar Beans is also Lake Charles's coolest coffee shop! Toting a semi-hipster vibe, this coffee shop is super relaxed and has chairs and sofas for all butt preferences, and has occasional live music to make it even better place to chill. Aside from the relaxed ambiance, Stellar Beans has some good food. The coffee is apparently from NOLA's famous Cafe du Monde and the freshly-made croissant sandwiches are excellent for a light breakfast and brunch. I highly recommend at least stopping by here for a quick relaxed coffee break or breakfast in the historic Lake Charles downtown! read more

Had THE BEST beignets. Fresh, hot, crispy and wonderful. They serve them with honey which my husband said is his new favorite way to eat beignets. We had one cafe au lait and one latte to accompany them--also excellent. The place itself is a very comfortable and unique coffee house and a great place to hang, I would definitely try other menu items and will put this place as a must stop in our trips through Louisiana! read more

Came in earlier this week for an afternoon coffee- BF got an iced somethingorother and I added a peach smoothie. Both drinks were, well, stellar! Both ice-cold, very flavorful, and quick. Service was super sweet and friendly, and the café itself is decorated in a very welcoming and laid back way- mismatched old tables, stools made of tree trunks, local art on sale on the walls, local businesses have a table for advertising events and services. Not everything's old school though, there was a laptop set up with iTunes on shuffle and a TV showing MSNBC complete with the stock ticker for those trying to get some work done. Between the free wifi and the board games, BF and I spent a solid hour here savoring our drinks and one another's company with some Scrabble. Great little local place to catch up with a friend. read more

Excellent coffee excellent service! Their beignets are so amazing especially when they're fresh and hot and when you add a cup of hot coffee it takes them over the top! I have been drinking coffee since I was a little girl so over 60 years and I know great coffee and I love their special brews!! Great service and really nice atmosphere!! read more

The atmosphere of this place is wonderful. I walked in and the gentleman on the piano made the room light up with his smooth melodies. The decor is perfect- I love the space aesthetic and all the art displayed throughout. I appreciate a good couch and comfy chairs at a café too. Even the designs of the tables was cool. My specialty latté was delicious and my breakfast sandwich wasn't too shabby either. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be a regular here. read more

If I could give half stars this would be the perfect time to do so. This place does deserve three and a half stars. It wasn't great but wasn't bad. The inside of the shop is very cool with live music and just a nice atmosphere. The prices are a little steep but it's a coffee shop all prices are. I got a café au lait and it was not great. Was actually quite disappointed. The reviews made this place sound amazing and maybe it is and there café au lait is just not there strong suit. The coffee was bitter and watery not much flavor. The milk was eh and was kind of steamed. Honestly it was just watery and bland. Also was over charged the menu had a different price but the lady said it was right. I also got a hot jasmine green tea and it was good. Beware though the tea bag does leak out tea. Overall I think that the café au lait is not there strong suit and maybe they have something better. Definitely worth a try if your in the area just don't get the café au lait. read more

Okay coffee. Expensive and tiny pastries. Horrible diarrhea 30 minutes after eating the breakfast casserole. No extra charge for the roll of bathroom tissue that you'll be using. Oh, are we supposed to change gloves after touching non-food items even when the gloves aren't ripped? The employees don't seem to know the basics about preventing food borne illness. I'm surprised that the local health department hasn't spanked them for this. read more

Ok- I'm a fan and so glad to have this in downtown Lake Charles. It started out strong with very good sandwiches, a nice setting with local art and comfy couches and chairs. The salads are a little unique, and not really the average type of salad. However an average salad with lettuce (other than iceberg lettuce) is what this town needs. So maybe they can come up with a nice big, green salad loaded with good stuff. I know they would sell. I've been to Stellar Beans about 5 times, and the first 4 times the sandwiches (Usually the Ciabatta bread with turkey, avocado, pesto mayo, lettuce, tomato, sprouts and carrots) were very, very good. But this last time, it seems like they got a little light on the fixin's so I was somewhat underwhelmed. Hopefully it was just a hiccup, so I will try it again next time. The tea and coffee is very good and they have free wifi. I'll be back at least for those reasons. read more

came here on a whim with my partner looking for some hot coffee and a snack - it was amazing!! the inside of the store is so cute and decorated really nicely, + there is a lot of art for sale. a sweet man was playing guitar and everyone was very friendly! the coffee was amazing (snickerdoodle latte with almond milk) and the croissant sandwich is great. will definitely be coming back if we visit lake charles again! read more

enjoyed a quick breakfast and coffee at this shop on a road trip through LA. the americano I ordered was smooth and rich, though i would have liked it to be stronger. the breakfast biscuit with sausage, egg, and cheese, was absolutely delicious! it was the perfect quick breakfast meal. the decor/ambiance was chill and the service was quick and polite. read more

Love the small town coffee shop, definitely want to drink local when I can. Having said this... I have two major gripes that knock this down from 5 stars to three stars: 1. They had 4 people working at the time I entered the store. Only one was manning the coffee/cashier position, which meant each individual drink took way longer than it should. I am all about patience, but can not stand when the other 3 people are doing non-customer things when there is a long line. Take the order, or take the money, but don't sit there cleaning dishes or cutting lettuce when the line backs up. 2. For the individual attention that each drink was given, and the time it took to get it out the door, at least make it the right temperature. The first sip of my latte was luke warm. Unfortunately, I was so frustrated with the time it took, I was willing to drink anything to get out of there. Other than that, this place has all the makings of a future 5 star location. I will be back to try again. read more

Love it here! Coolest coffee spot downtown Lake Charles. Chill vibe and the coffee is wonderful! I have yet to try hot tea, but the iced tea is good. I just wish the ice wouldn't melt so fast and ruin the flavoring, but it comes from being steeped, so yeah. :( Maybe hot tea would be best. Staff are friendly and fast. Delicious New Orleans fresh beignet and cafe au lait. Stopped here for breakfast on the way out headed back to Austin and was pleasantly surprised by the unexpected beignet treat with a good cuppa. We didn't need to go all the way to New Orleans for it afterall, haha! Nice worn in furniture and interesting art for sale as well. Definitely a local's favorite by the looks of the morning patrons. Recommend if you're stopping through this small town and not one of the gambling casino fan crowd. Quiet, bright open seating areas and nice folks. read more

Quaint little coffee shop in downtown Lake Charles featuring local art and music, with a chill vibe and free wifi. Breakfast is yummy but portions were smaller than expected. Beignets were okay and are made fresh to order, and they are only available during certain hours each day. The espresso machine was out of commission when I went so I wasn't able to try their affogato, which is what I was really craving. I did get kind of weirded out when a customer stood their toddler up on top of the counter so the kid's shoes were on there... not exactly sanitary or acceptable for a food establishment, even if they happened to be friends with one of the employees. read more

The whole staff was kind and welcoming, our waitress was ShaDay and she was so kind and attentive. My husband had the fried pork chop breakfast which also came with cheesy grits, country potatoes, a biscuit and diner's choice eggs; he chose over easy eggs. Every single thing on his plate had great flavor! We taste tested each other's plates, and we both agreed that there wasn't a single bite that left us disappointed. I felt my soul leave my body when I dipped a piece of that homemade biscuit in the owner's homemade strawberry jam! ShaDay told us that the owner makes all the jams herself and rotates the flavors out periodically. The owner deserves an award for those jams because my husband licked those little ramekins clean; it was that good. I'm grateful ShaDay brought us another jam too, so I could also enjoy the jam with my food; that's how quick he finished off his jam. I had the F Biscuit which was just as flavorful and delicious. The F Biscuit is a breakfast sandwich where they dip the biscuits in French toast batter then grill it before putting the sandwich altogether with fried eggs, cheese, bourbon bacon onion jam, and a sausage link (or substitute for chicken, which I did and it was a great choice.) Every bite was flavorful, and the jam was also an out of this world enhancement to the French toast biscuit as well. Biscuits & Jamz is a 5-star experience all the way around, from the staff, to the food, to the environment, to the pricing. The prices were very fair for the portions of food you get while still being very affordable. Don't walk. RUNNNNN to Biscuits & Jamz! You won't be disappointed!

I remember the chef coming over to our table and introducing himself and thanking us for the compliments. I haven't been back since and I'm not really sure why but it may be because this restaurant is crazy expensive! A burger costs about $22!
