Phenomenal Experience -- We'll Be Back!…read more My sister and I booked the last two available spots for a completely spur-of-the-moment horseback ride with @texastrailrides at @lonestarranchtexas, and wow... it was absolutely phenomenal. What a perfect way to start our first adventure of the year, especially in the Year of the Horse This year, we've decided to create moments instead of buying things, and this experience was everything we hoped for and more. From the moment we arrived, everything felt easy and welcoming. The instructions were clear and simple, making the ride comfortable even if you haven't been on a horse in a while. Our instructor, Annabelle, was AMAZING -- knowledgeable, calm, kind, and truly attentive the entire time. I had the honor of riding Poncho, a strong, steady, and beautiful horse. There was something incredibly grounding about simply walking the trails, crossing through water, and fully trusting him to guide us safely -- and he absolutely did. That connection, that peace, that trust... unforgettable. We enjoyed this experience so much that we already know we'll be back in March, and we plan to end this year the same way we started it -- on horseback, making memories together. If you're looking for horseback riding in Texas, I highly recommend this trail ride. It's peaceful, empowering, well-guided, and truly soul-filling. Thank you @texastrailrides, @lonestarranchtexas, Annabelle, and Poncho -- we can't wait to ride again

Star Hill Ranch looks like a little cowboy western town. Something straight out of a western tv movie. With little buildings, a small church, and a gorgeous back drop. Stage in the back, and lawn, and the hills and trees behind the stage. Old Ford trucks. Just the most picturesque back drop for any event. Truly is the most Texas scenery I've seen. The mac & grilled cheese event was spectacular. So many samples and so much fun. Gorgeous day to start out with. All the venders were delightful. Explaining their sample dish. Some used cheese that I've never heard of. Some using my personal favorite cheese and some of the most inventive toppings. Flaming hot Cheetos, green onions, pickled onions, pickles, just so creative outside the standard mac & cheese. No Kraft box in sight at this event! Event itself was very well organized. A speaker came on a few times and asked how everyone was doing, getting the crowd of people pumped up. Making sure everyone was informed throughout. A lot of crew members walking around too to answer questions and guiding people to the right areas. There were some tables overlooking the gorgeous back drop of the mountains and stage. Everywhere was a photograph moment. I would absolutely go back next year. I would probably get the VIP tickets verses the general addition. The VIP gets you into lounges and an hour earlier into the event.

After googling drive through weddings in Austin trying to find something similar to Vegas, I came across this little white chapel. The photos are just as cute as in person and the couple who officiate are the absolute sweetest. They make the moment special but also light hearted and friendly. We upgraded to go in instead of drive through and I am so glad I did. She took great photos with our phone (you can also upgrade that too, to professional photos). There are several packages to chose from with even more upgrades if you like. They are adding on to the back and it is looking super cute if you want an evening wedding with lights outside etc. The airstream they have is super cool too. Overall such a wonderful experience and I am so glad we found this little treasure hidden in the hill country hills.

A couple things that docked this place right out the gates was that they had no beer on draft (apparently it's been gone since Covid), and there's a $10 split plate charge. As far as the food quality goes, I found it to be quite mixed. The crab cake appetizer was outstanding, slightly crispy packed with flavor. The stuffed avocado was awful, poorly presented and just looked like a handful of ingredients were slopped together, super heavy on the bbq sauce and the pork was cold. The bread they start you with is the best you'll have, so soft it feels like you're eating g a cloud. The filet mignon medium rare was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning and char, was easily one of the best steaks I've ever had. Chewing was effortless, and bite melted in my mouth. The lettuce in the wedge salad was nice and cold, though a bit drenched with the tossed dressing, served in a chilled bowl. The ribs had a nice smokey flavor, not quite fall off the bone but still had some tender pieces. The scallops were way too salty but the bed of rice it was served with was creamy and delicious. As far as deserts go, the butter cake took the cake. It was warm, soft with a huge scoop of ice cream on top. The chocolate cheesecake is huge, kind of like a mini cake, and was also very popular. It could easily be shared across 4-5 people. The service had its ups and downs. I wasn't too happy about them needing to be flagged down for water refills. Our server spilled two full drinks on a couple people in our party, but he was very apologetic and immediately brought a load of napkins out. I was a bit bothered that a couple of the remaining $18+ cocktails on the tray that were partially spilled were still served and charged to the bill, especially since most of the cocktails were light pours to begin with. The Manhattan tasted like it was made by an amateur bartender, made with way too way too much bitters which completely masked the bourbon. The mocktails were also quite terrible and had to be sent back. They do have an extensive wine selection, and we really enjoyed a couple of their Malbecs.

After reading through all of the reviews, I noticed there were very few photos and realized more information was needed. It should be noted that the name has changed to Super Mercado Los Vaqueros. The store itself is approximately 30,000 ft.² inside and marvelously decorated along the perimeter. Inside only Mexican music is playing and the signs and tags are in Spanish first and English second. As soon as you walk in the door and steer towards the bakery, you will be very impressed with the selection of numerous beautifully decorated cakes and baked goods. Next to the bakery, you will find a hot food buffet where you can get it to go or sit at one of six picnic tables across the way. Next to the deli is a very well laid out produce department complete with one of the largest chili pepper selections I've ever seen. They do have a good seafood selection along with numerous fresh and marinated meats on display. Yes you can find any of the items that you would find at your local H-E-B, but this store has things you will not even find at Whole Foods. I found the employees to be very helpful and attentive. If you're looking for a very unique and rewarding shopping experience where you can see things you don't see anywhere else, then you should stop in here. Plenty of photographs below to whet your appetite.
