I came here with my family and was shocked. The horses are not fairly treated, we excepted to see first class treatment of these horses and that was not the case. The employees seemed to not care about the well being of the horse and the land itself. It seems the owner only cares for her self interest and it shows in the operation. Don't come here. read more

We were there for a private event with a group that included a rodeo and a BBQ and whiskey tasting. Staff were great. The food was good and the rodeo super fun. All the more interesting is how close this was to the downtown of Austin. Felt like we were in a typical suburb rather than on a ranch. Although we did not do this we noticed they have trap shooting, ATV Guided Tours, kayaking and horse riding of course. All worth checking out if you are in the area. read more

My company had a lunch event out there and it was fantastic. All the staff were super friendly and enthusiastic. We had a yummy bbq lunch, a fun rodeo skills demonstration, and line dancing good times. Another group was trap shooting out beyond the rodeo arena. My friend and I had so much fun with Jillian on a 1030am 1.5h Texas Train Ride today! The ride was super easy to book online. The ranch is easy to find and not far from town. The ranch itself is so welcoming and well maintained, I could definitely envision events and group gatherings there. She picked the perfect horses for us and we felt so safe under her direction. Totally irresponsible business. I was hiking in Onion Creek Metro Park and got peppered by Lone Star Ranch skeet shooting. I yelled at them that they're shooting into the public park and they yelled back at me and kept shooting well into the park. Had to call the sheriff and he informed me they pepper their neighbor's roof as well. Horrible gun safety, don't support these people. read more

We were greeted and welcomed in straight away by the staff. The paper process went quick and we were off on the trail. I had my 8 year old granddaughter with me who has never ridden a horse and they took extra time to help her feel comfortable on Tex. It was a gorgeous trail through trees and creeks! This place was awesome. Me and my wife came for her birthday. We did ATV riding, skeet shooting, and horseback riding. All of the staff were super kind and polite and ver attentive. I have a terrible memory for names but the Ranch operations manager was a US Army Veteran like myself, and we had a great time with him as our guide through ATV riding and skeet shooting. I do wish the trails for ATV's went further than just in the one area, but it was fun nonetheless! Skeet shooting was great, extra rounds for us since we went kind of fast having so much fun! The horseback riding was great, the horses were beautiful and very calm, easy to manage if you are a first timer! I also do wish they had different levels of advancement for the quick trail rides! Maybe have it more private for just me and my wife, give us some time to ride a bit faster than a walk. I do believe they may have that option for booking, but I'm not sure. I went on a trail ride last week lead by our amazing guide Emma. Upon arriving the horses were already tacked up and ready to go. They all looked great! Emma was incredibly knowledgeable and knew the trails well. She was confident in instructing those who needed it and by the end those she instructed were not ready to be done with the trails! Our company had this scheduled and paid $28,000, ONE month in advance to them, 2 days later we needed to cancel the event, till today since May 5, 2022 have not reimbursed our company with the amount we paid. I would suggest NOT to use this ranch as you can see they are money hungry ,due to lack of funds from Covid . Also on there contact did Not state anything about no refund if canceled. Specially that we canceled 3 day after submitting large amount of money to them. So what did the owner decide to do... keeping it for lost in revenue. DO NOT GO TO THIS FARM AS THEY ARE THIEVES!!! Let's face it...horses are safer than humans at the moment! If you need a break from the incessant bad news, go for a two-hour trail ride (comfort level permitting). Not only do you get an escape, but horses are excellent at social distancing (even if you're not)! ---- I'm probably cheating by writing a review on this page vs their Texas Trail Rides page, but this is where the ride started so it counts, and trail rides is one of the services offered at Lone Star Ranch, so just giving them some love, too. First off, the property is adorable - as adorable as a ranch can be, that is. They've definitely made it look like a western town so you feel like you're in the middle of a Texas town in the good ol' days vs right outside of Austin in 2020. They mentioned they host groups for much more involved events there that feature rodeos, cowboy action shooting, armadillo racing, "cowboy" chefs cooking out of an authentic cowboy chuck wagon, etc. Corporate gatherings, bachelor/bachelorette parties, birthday celebrations, etc. They also offer more than trail rides, like archery, fishings, tomahawk throwing, ATVing, etc. Oh, I scratch that. First off, IT'S FEMALE OWNED AND OPERATED! Apparently there's just one dude on this dudette ranch, otherwise most of the staff and wranglers are all ladies. Kick ass! The ease of booking online and paying and all that jazz was the least western thing about this experience - all modern and a breeze. We arrived, signed some waivers, were given helmets and a brief instruction, mounted our horses, and we were off. Our wrangler Shelby was lovely and chatted us up when we needed it and let us just experience nature when we didn't. Also impressive that she basically was turned around the entire two hours when she was talking to us - serious skill. The trail ride goes through a lush area in southeast Austin that has a creek you go through and this big, beautiful field of flowers where the stems go all the way up to the top of the horses' legs, so you feel like you're part of a dreamland for a hot second. Shelby offered to take photos and videos of us at some key points. All of our horses were mild in temperament and stayed in line the whole time. It's not a technical ride and there's very little action, but it's a nice way to experience nature and do something different! read more

Went to Lone Star Ranch with my team for a work trip and had the most amazing time! The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgable - they answered all of our questions about the animals and activities. We did archery and axe/knife throwing and Natty was an incredible guide! So much fun and she coached us until we were able to hit the targets and get that satisfying feeling. Highly recommend the activity as an amazing team builder. I also loved the feeling of being on a working ranch and seeing the animals roaming in their areas. Really fun spot for all ages. They have a great range of horses, and an amazing trail they take you on. Its beautiful to be in the woods, so close to nature, you even get to cross a small stream which was pretty cool. The wranglers are friendly and experienced. I was also here with a large group, and there are a lot of various activities to do here. Axe throwing, skeet shooting, hiking, bb gun shooting. Wonderful ranch! We booked a last minute trip to Austin and was able to schedule the sunset trail ride at the ranch. It was super easy to take an Uber from the city to the ranch since we didn't rent a car for this visit. Everyone we met at the ranch was extremely friendly and informative. It was actually an incredibly relaxing and peaceful trail ride. We highly recommend. Next time we will book one of their other activities as well as the trail ride. Our experience was absolutely wonderful. The booking process was seamless. We booked a 10am ride which was great for missing the very hot weather. The property grounds were decent and the trails were beautiful. The ranch is very scenic with open terrain, intimate trails, lush greenery and running creeks. Last summer I took my son to the cottages at Belton Lake, BLORA. We loved the beach, but the beds were horrible so this year we didn't. This year we went to the Lone Star Ranch, two days of marksmanship with bows, knives, tomahawks, and trap shooting with both 20 and 12 gauge. We also fed the horses carrots. It was the best experience we've had on a summer mini vacation. We couldn't ride horses because I'm too heavy (fat) and I wouldn't do that to a horse. Next year, we will go back, for all the events. Trail riders passed through our area and looked like the had a blast. The horses are very calm and agreeable. I give it 12 out of five stars. My son and I agree, it was very worth it. read more

You take a fun hayride down to the trap field, where you do a quick safety briefing, and then you start trying to hit the clays! Best social distancing fun. Staff did a great job taking COVID-19 precautions! Kiddos enjoyed the day and felt very safe. Most of the horses are rescued.
