My first time visiting the Taproom, I felt welcomed upon entering. They have a good selection of drinks from some from the local area. I ended up getting cider in a growler to go. This place is very warm and inviting with its wood tones and friendly Steilacoom faces. It only serves drinks, but does allow for food to be brought in from other places. This is not a kid friendly joint as you have to be 21+. The hours are only a few days a week but are pretty consistent. Recently they have joined forces with a local pizza man who cooks pizza in his mobile oven right outside. They also have game nights with tournaments for games such as cribbage. We absolutely love this place! The owner Ilona is simply a great person and makes everyone feel so welcome! It is definitely a locals favorite while at the same time the locals are all very welcoming. My wife and I came here a few months ago while visiting from CA since it looked like a nice spot to stop and have a drink. From the get go the lady serving was not welcoming and looked like she was not excited that we were there . It seemed like she was eager for us to go despite how polite we were being . She treated the 'regulars' I assume they were much more kindly and seemed bothered 'outsiders' had the audacity to enter her bar. If you're not a 'regular' I recommend going elsewhere unless you want to be treated like an outsider. Cheers read more

I always liked the quaint atmosphere, views and the downtown in Steilacoom! It is a very quiet little place... maybe too quiet for the law enforcement officers here as they look like they are begging for any little excuse to pull someone over on my last visit. Lol! I heard that there was a brewery opening in the area in the near future and asked the lady that was running the bar about it. She said that there was one that was going to open but it would be in DuPont so I appreciated the information that she provided here! The Steilacoom Tap Room is located where most of the businesses are for the town... downtown. Parking is easy and free which makes it even better! Even if you do have to park for where you need to go here it's a very easy walk to get to. I enjoy going to beer taprooms. Sometimes you can get beer from breweries that are just a bit too far to do in a day trip or you can get exclusive beers or beers from breweries that are production and distribution only... in other words they don't have a tasting room of their own to offer. I didn't see any of that here but I saw that the tap room offered several beers from Wet Coast Brewing in Gig Harbor. I was at Wet Coast around the time when their tasting room first opened and wasn't impressed at all. Sometimes when a brewery gets more established or is open for a while the beer gets better in taste and quality so I decided to try two of the Wet Coast options they had on their menu here. I tried a Cream Ale and a Pale Ale. While Wet Coast's beer has improved I was still a bit underwhelmed but that has nothing to do with my opinion on the Steilacoom Tap Room. The service here was excellent and as I said before the lady that ran the bar was super nice. This is definitely a "townie" bar because everyone definitely knew each other here. The Steilacoom Tap Room was a fun little detour and whenever I am in the area again... probably for when I am on the bike trails and hanging out in Chambers Bay I would love to swing by again to kick back and relax in this quaint little place! read more

Found this place by chance. I was driving to DuPont and just happened to see this place in the cute town. I went back the next day and had a great time! They have a good variety of beers on tap. We got two flights to try out most of the beers. It is $10 for 4 5oz tastes. They are very welcoming and say hi and bye to every guest that comes in. Also, the owner has an adorable dog named Charlotte that hangs out there. This is a great place to hang out, drink a beer, and talk with other people at the bar. read more

It is my sisters birthday, so we were having fun going to different places around the area. Walked into this establishment, immediately got weird looks, there was no bartender for the 5 minutes we were in there. As we started to walk out a bartender finally showed up, and sarcastically said, "oh no, don't go, what happened, BYE!" Was very uncomfortable. If you aren't 50+ years old, I wouldn't recommend this place, you will get age shamed lol. read more

For starters they didn't let us order flights because it can get too busy to handle that. We were the ONLY 2 people there at 4pm on St Paddy's day. We waited for this place to open just to get a flight so this made me a little bent. I asked if they normally have flights and they said yes. I looked around and confirmed with myself that we were indeed the only 2 patrons in this little bar and nope was not offered a flight so I just picked a beer. We drank a beer and left before 5... still the only 2 people in there. Thumbs down for customer service. :( will prob never be back. Tried to get a drink at 9:30 on a Saturday night. Sign on the door said they were open until 10:00. I live in Steilacoom and walked in with family visiting from out of state. We were told immediately after walking in that we missed last call and that they were closed. Not very friendly or motivated to make a go of their new business. Don't recommend. read more

This was a very relaxing tap room. The beers great! We tried the Red beer, the IPA and the CDA. All were amazing! We were greated as soon as we walked in by both the owner and the cutest little dog! I find the location is great, beer selection is nice but pricey ($5 for a 12 oz?), but the owner can be snappy. Every time I've gone there (4-5 times), I've had a pretty uneasy experience. I know there are a lot of good reviews for this place, but I do sense she favors others way more and pays no attention to newer customers. Every time I try to order she immediately says "well, I need to see some ID first" in a very condescending and short tone. I know I look young but other breweries and tap rooms I've been to in the PNW never treat me like that when they ask for ID. Another time, when my friend brought in a bouquet of flowers from the market as we ordered beers, the water accidentally leaked and she freaked out muttering "you and your flowers are going to kill me" as she hastily wiped the table and floor. I'm sorry, but it's just water and worst things could've spilled. We apologized but she abruptly just walked away back to the bar without acknowledging us. Another time we came in, we sat at a table and had finished up a round of drinks and wanted to order more. She was walking by and was talking to another table and it looked like she was taking their beer order. So we waved to her and asked if we could get another round too. She snapped at us and said "Sure, if you walk to the bar." And walked away immediately. Was it that rude to ask even if it's not your tap room's policy? We got weird vibes from that final encounter, closed our tabs and left. I really want to like this place and give it another chance since it's only a mile away from my home. But I hope their customer service improves soon. read more

The tattered sign outside made us wonder if the place was open yet. On a sunny day the doors and windows were all closed so we went inside & the place was quiet as if nobody wanted to be overheard. The lack of background noise i.e. music or soft TV made it eerie. We sat at a table a few paces away from the bar and waited to place our order. After five minutes of waiting the bartender rudely told us that we had to come to the bar to order and that she wouldn't be coming to serve us. We obliged and asked a few questions about the beer list. She had no answers. We ordered four beers and she told us they would come 2 @ a time, making half of our party watch the other half drink beer for five minutes. The beer was good but we could've purchased it at the Albertson's down the road. There is no food so I suggest you bring your own. Scratch that, don't bring food, don't even come here until Spring 2018 when the re-opening party happens. read more
