Writing a review for a Resturant or a hotel seems pretty straightforward and in fact simple compared to one that relates to a General Contractor. Especially one who pursues excellence in every aspect of his life, family, his hobbies and of course each project that he invests himself into. The energy, honesty and commitment that Jim Steg of Steg Custom Homes and Pools brings to each of his clients is unwavering and unequaled.
Our first encounter with Jim was based upon our search for General Contractor to build a home for us on a lot that we had purchased for that purpose. We heard good things about Jim and we sought him out. However, before we embarked upon the new build there were several small projects to be completed to position our house for sale and we engaged with Jim. He looked over our wish list, estimated the costs, gave us a timeline and a commitment that he would be on budget and on time. Three or four projects later, Jim had transformed our house into a home that we love.
Jim completed our projects on time and on budget, so we added a much more extensive project to our wish list. Our last project was completed ahead of schedule and returned money to us as a credit against our draws! Unheard of right?
How Jim works is the key to his success and help to build trusted relationships. He is up front about his fee, he gives you complete estimates and materials budgets, he contracts with the highest quality craftsmen, vendors, suppliers and holds them accountable for each aspect of their work. Jim also arrives at the job site each morning (typically right after his early morning work out but always before 7 am). He personally meets the sub-contractors and goes over each specific aspect of the job at hand, the ground rules of the house, the expectations about a clean work site and then he follows up at the end of the day to ensure that everything went as planned. If there are changes or issues that arise, Jim works with the sub-contractor, the owner and develops a corrective course of action. Once the project is complete, Jim provides a final update to the project manual and gives it to the owner. It is a complete review of every cost, each product (including all model numbers, colors etc.).
The other unique thing about Jim is that he is all about sharing the stories and projects on social media, this may sound intrusive but the reality is his work always is something to behold, if you see a project video in mid-project, you will note the clean worksites, clean vehicles, clean and professional workers it is impressive. Also, you get a glimpse of The inner Jim, driven and 100% "In", with Jim there is no part way in, his slogan is "Do the Work" and boy do they deliver on that.
The last comment about Jim is this, he probably should have been in the Special Forces. He has a commitment to Mind, Body and Performance of Duty that rivals our finest and best military resources. His resolve to carry out each and every aspect of his work to the nth degree is proof of the effort put into planning, expecting the need for contingencies or alternative courses of action, rescue efforts, and he couples all of these factors with the project owners expectations to deliver the final product. You never hear horror stories from Jim's past clients, most if not all will comment in a similar manner as I have outlined here.
If you are in search of a General Contractor that is honest, talented and a committed professional you have researched the last place you need to go. Hire Jim, you will be pleased, and you will learn how this type of work should be done. Oh yes, you will also have a new life long friend. read more
