I had my first Guinness of St. Patrick's Day at Steener's this past weekend! Truth be told, it was my first time visiting the Bemus Point/Greenhurst pub and I had a blast! My friend had a burger and really enjoyed it. There was live music, a lot of people having a good time, good drinks, good food and holiday give-aways. I can't wait to get back and experience another night at Steener's that isn't St. Patrick's Day. Had I not already eaten prior to going to Steener's, I definitely would have tried something off the menu. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. The bar was packed throughout the afternoon and everyone in the place was having a good time. My wife and I really liked the eclectic decor. Lots of random stuff on the walls, plus an arcade game and claw machine in the corner. Just an all-around positive first experience of the place. read more

We bought a place on the lake a year ago and Steeners has quickly become our go-to place. The owner and staff have been very welcoming to us as out-of-towners (or maybe worse...Steelers fans, lol). The fish and chips are some of the best we've ever had. The batter they use for the fish is so crunchy and flavorful. We also love their fries and wings. The chicken-pecan salad is so good! I guess the one thing that isn't always easy is parking. They get really busy Thurs-Sat evenings. So go early! read more

Stopped here after a girl's trip to Jamestown for a late lunch. Our server was very friendly and sat us promptly. The menu is so extensive it was hard to decide what to order! Most of the crew ended up having turkey clubs and I had a Buffalo chicken wrap. Very tasty and fresh! Their fries are hand cut as well. They also offered vinegar for the fries which most restaurants do not. Prices were reasonable. I was very happy with our meal and the staff is excellent! The only "Irish" thing on the menu was a Reuben... it was okay. Nothing to write home about. The "Irish" fried fish n chips wasn't very good either. Also had to swat away a swarm of fruit flies the entire time... not a worth it wouldn't go back. Go to Guppys for a fish fry instead, you won't be disappointed. read more

Stopped in on a Friday night after seeing this place on Yelp. Walked in to find a 10 stool bar straight ahead then off to the right a dining room partitioned off by a high top table. Both areas were clean, freshly painted and nicely decorated with sports memorabilia. My sister, niece n I walked in planning to get fish fry, which by the looks of other tables plates, was delicious. But after the front of the menu boasted they were home of the pounder and a pint, we were intrigued. After asking the waitress what she recommended and she talked up the 1lb hand cut Delmonico steak served with fries, a side salad and a pint of beer, we were in. Pounders all around. We also ordered their pot roast nachos and dragon balls as appetizers. The nachos were freshly fried and topped with tender pot roast, a nacho cheese sauce and shredded cheddar. Perfection! The dragon balls were little balls of golden fried pepper jack cheese served with a golden (honey mustardy?)sauce. The steaks came out with a nice grilled color and char marks accompanied with a nice burn on the fat along the edge(my favorite part)! We had 2 medium rare and 1 medium and they were all cooked perfectly. The hand cut fries were also fried to a perfect crisp. I'm going out on a limb and saying this is the best steak I've had eating out! It was chock full of flavor. This place seemed to have the right balance of dive bar and reputable restaurant down. I definitely will definitely be stopping back to try their wings and burgers. read more

We were visiting Chautauqua in early September 2022 and looking for a place to eat that would be comfortable, casual, and serve decent food at affordable prices. Steener's Pub gave us that and more. Our server was great--down-to-earth and professional. One of our party is vegan and the kitchen was able to accommodate her requirements. I had shrimp tacos that were well seasoned--and the shrimp were plump and fresh. My partner enjoyed the veggie tacos, and we all found our cocktails to be delicious and well-priced. We've been recommending this place to denizens of Chautauqua who have never even heard of it! Note: the place is under construction as of September 2022, but the seating is still comfortable (we sat outside). We'll definitely come back to Steener's next time we're in the area. read more

We stopped here for dinner on a Saturday night with a couple of friends. The portion sizes are huge, but we were left disappointed in the food. We later learned that the regular chef wasn't working that night and that's probably why. We also waited almost an hour for our food. I must say, though, that our server was superb! I was in town and decided to try a new place out! I saw Steener's on yelp had some pretty good reviews, so me and the family decided to give it a shot! It was a Saturday night around 630pm and there were plenty of seats open! We were sat right away, and shortly after greeted by our server. She was great! We all got something different, I personally had their spicy chili wrap I believe it was called, delicious! I was also able to substitute their fries for onion rings, definitely a solid choice. The fries came with my husbands order, i personally wasn't a fan of them. I also tried their French onion soup, since I cant go somewhere without trying their French onion soup! It was good but I don't think I would get it again here, just so you are aware it is very salty! We also ordered their wings, very saucy and a little hotter then what I expected. We have a place in Chautaqua and we've been in the area for just a few years. We've been exploring and trying out new places. We tried this one on a whim. We had been there before to drink and see some local bands (acoustic), so we wen't back to finally try it for dinner. We had heard there was a new head chef (on their fb page) and people seemed to really talk him up, so we gave it a shot. This is a gem in the rough! I almost gave it 4 star because it's a typical bar/pub (in that it's not going to win awards for looking nice or fancy). Truth is, it's not horrible looking. You walk in and notice the bar right in front of you, to the left. It was full of patrons that were probably local usuals. Even with the dining room to the right, there's no mistaking that it's still a bar (place). The great thing about that is that it's super casual. I can bring my infant daughter in there and no one would care too much if she got a little fussy. Anyway...onto the food! The food = value, quality and you'll leave happy. I got a gigantic steak with fries and a salad for $17. The steak was a del monoco steak (which is what I actually prefer). It must have been a 12 ounce, it was huge and I got a real good piece (very little fat to deal with, which isn't always the case with less expensive steak). My guest got the "sled ride" which was prime roast between to piece of flat bread, with french fries and coleslaw (kinda like a "Pittsburgh"). I was actually envious of that. Any restaurant that you go to and you enjoy the food immensely but see your date eating something different and it leaves you with envy...that's a 5 star place for me. I'll be back to try more. So glad we found this place. Give it a shot if you want a great meal without breaking the bank. read more

My wife and I enjoyed a weekend trip to Chautauqua Lake over Labor Day and found this place during our exploring of the area. As we were traveling with our dog, we had to order carry out rather than dine in. I must say, the food was excellent. We both ordered fish and chips although I substituted onion rings for the potatoes. We also had an order of fried mushrooms. Everything was great. The fish was crispy and well cooked. The onion rings were really good and my wife said the fries were very good also. The deep fried mushrooms were outstanding! We easily got more than we could eat. We will go back here if we are ever in the area again. read more

I love Steener's wings. I always look forward to finally getting my western NY buffalo wings when coming to Jamestown to visit family, which is why it pains me to give them 1 star. My family has been coming to Steener's for years and have spent thousands and thousands of dollars at this establishment...my brother even had his graduation party at Steener's after graduating from high school in Virginia. However, after tonight, we most likely will never be returning. Since all the family is in town for Thanksgiving, we wanted to get together with other family and friends for dinner. We made a reservation for tonight, showed up 5 minutes early for the reservation, and found out that our table had been split up so that other customers could be seated and that they wouldn't "lose business." Well, they lost a party of 16 people when they gave away our table with no warning, no call to let us know, nothing. Now I understand that they don't want to turn away other customers, but you left 16 very hungry-very much looking forward to Steener's-people high and dry with nothing except for a sorry from your waitresses who felt terrible after being told to give our table away. While the food is amazing, I just can't imagine ever choosing to go there again after experiencing this kind of customer service. I hope that this review only makes you better so that this does not happen to the next big party. I will miss you Steener's wings! read more

POUTINE BEWARE! Menu shows traditional poutine with brown gravy and cheese curds over fries. What we got was brown gravy and shredded cheddar cheese over fries. When we asked about it we were told "we don't have cheese curds, this is how we used to do it" when I said it wasn't good and not what was on the menu the waitress said she would take HALF OFF the price since we ate some of it. WHAT? We only ate a few bites. It was not good and not what was on the menu. I was hoping this would be a go-to place for us because my husband loved the fish fry. I would have given it five stars had they just explained to us they were out of cheese curds before they brought the meal out. HONESTY GOES A LONG WAY. They must think customers are stupid or don't want customers to return...sad. read more

So we come to Bemus Point several times a summer, we recently passed Steeners and thought we needed to try it. Went in tonight and have to say was a bit disappointed, not with the service, the waitress was very nice but there were a number of specials listed on the board but no description as to what they were. We had to ask our waitress to describe them all. Typically we are used to having at least a sheet given to us that tells us more about the specials. One of the specials was poutine, well we really like poutine so decided to give it a try, classic poutine is cheese curds, Brown gravy over fresh cut fries, and being that we are in the land of cheese curds was pretty surprised to get fries with a bit of shredded cheddar and hardly any gravy, one of us ordered the shrimp boil which literally was shrimp coated in old bay, so much that it was too spicy hot too eat, another of us ordered the sled ride which was described to be tacos with shredded roast beef, the tacos being deep fried pita bread, they didn't appear to be crisped at all from the fryer. Neither of these dishes had any kind of side dish with them, the shrimp was just a bunch of shrimp nothing else. Another of our party had a chicken salad, it was mixed green lettuce some onion and a few tiny diced tomatoes. The field greens were good but the chicken although cooked well had zero seasoning on it. I had the fish and chips which was pretty good. Now finally for a pub I figured there would be a nice selection of tap beers, there were 3 domestics and 2 craft that was it...pretty disappointing. Prices were reasonable just feel they need to up their game, with some very simple easy things that could make their clientele a bit happier and willing to come back. We were told by the waitress that the chef has off on Mondays so we should come in on a Friday when he has some great specials....problem is we really don't want to go back. read more

Don't let the outside fool you, the inside isn't great either, lol, but the service (at least at the bar) is top notch! Courtney made us feel right at home and even let my 5 year old sit with us. Drinks were poured with a heavy hand and I loved that she asked to taste what I ordered:) Wings were pretty tasty and came with carrots and celery. Music was awesome! Company around us was super friendly and talkative.
