The Pub in Jamestown is a true local classic -- family-owned, cozy, and full of character. I first discovered it when I moved to the area back in 1999, and it's been one of my favorites ever since. The ambiance is exactly what you want from a long-time Jamestown staple -- warm, comfy, and full of local relics and memories on the walls. It feels like home the moment you walk in. The food is homemade and always hits the spot. Their soups change daily and are consistently delicious, and my absolute favorite thing on the menu is the eggplant parm sandwich -- seriously, so good. Great little place, great staff, good atmosphere. Wife ordered goat cheese and spinach pizza, it was really good thin-crust Za. I had the beef on wEck, gotta say I was unimpressed with the sandwich. Bread was so soggy ( from au jus dip before serving?) that I pretty much just ate the beef. Flavor of beef was ok, but nothing to write home about. I would definitely try this place again, base on everything the beef-on samich. I would stop here again of up this way. read more

This place is so welcoming. Sam the bartender and owner is soooo friendly and fun. I tried the famous beef on the weck. It was so full of meat. I had a hard time fitting it in my big mouth. I also had the French onion soup which was delish and not salty as usual. My hubby had the past with sausage and meatballs. He said it was amazing. We started with the asiago artichoke dip which was very good and I am going to make it myself. The atmosphere here is so friendly. All the locals love to talk and make you feel welcome. Prices are very reasonable and great service. Everything is freshly made. Would love to stop back here again if we are in town. Excellent read more

Food - 3.5 Service - 1 My kids and I were staying at the DoubleTree Inn and decided to eat here based off of the positive Yelp reviews. We sat at the bar because there were no tables. We put in our orders immediately thinking we would get our food in 10-15 min. Unfortunately it took 1 hour and 10 min to get the food. During that time, the bartender did not bother to check in on us or fill our water. After 50 min of waiting, I had to ask him how long it would take to get our order. He went to check and made up some excuse that multiple orders came in all at once, overwhelming the kitchen. However, the regulars at the end of the bar who came in later got their food before us. We finally got our food. The eggplant parmigiana was excellent. Spaghetti and meatballs was good. Pesto pizza was meh. Thin crust was like eating a hard cracker and the pizza was very buttery. The mozzarella moon was not good. The crust was not cooked properly. Very pale and soft. If it weren't for the 1 hour 10 min wait to get our food, I would have given this place a 4. Bartender apologized a few times which is why the rating is a 2 and not a 1. read more

This is a very popular downtown bar that has great food. The menu is very smash but the food on the menu is excellent. The front is a long round bar and the back has tables for the restaurant portion. Great Italian food here with friendly wait staff. You are very likely to see someone you know on a Friday or Saturday night as this is one of the big hangouts in town. Highly recommend for the eggplant parmesan or other Italian dishes. The wait can be a little slow at times but have a few drinks before dinner, you don't really notice it. read more

I've been here a couple of times, and so far, it's my favorite bar/pub in town. The drinks are made right, the beer is cold and their food is fantastic. Just couldn't visit the area without giving The Pub's Beef-On-Weck a try after reading the reviews. Well worth the effort. As part of my round trip drive from Pittsburgh I was determined to find the best Beef-On-Weck in the Southern Tier. I'm pretty sure I did. Called the day before to arrange a late morning pickup and the staff could not have been more accommodating. My order was on time and even packaged appropriately for my long trip home. Never heard of a beef on weck? Me neither until my summer of 2021 road trip. Turns out, this is one delicious sandwich from the Buffalo area. The beef is tender, the bread is soft and salty, the horseradish sauce was nasal passage opening. Addicted after one sandwich and I'm dreaming of the next time I can have another. It's a cool little place with an old feel. I only ever get the beef on weck which is why it's taken me so long to review here. I don't feel I have much to add other than that it's not an exaggeration, it's really good. Desserts are amazing ! The pizza and stuffed hot peppers are out of this world mind blowing. Good beer selection. Sometimes parking is a little hard to find because of the area. Prices are reasonable and service is good unless it's busy with regulars. I great place to grab a beer and lunch after spending hours at the National Comedy Center. Lots of choices. Can't wait to try the Zesty Italian soup and Asiago dip. Mmmm. Cheesy and garlicky dip. This place was great! Went over lunchtime on a weekday so was there with the locals- when the local fireman stop here for their lunch break, that's a good sign to me. They had a cool beer selection, including different western NY breweries. Despite this place being a pub, they had great Italian food! Stopped in with a friend from out of town for a bite to eat and were treated to outstanding service and good food. I had a decent side salad and a fantastic turkey pita sandwich which practically melted in my mouth. His chef salad was delicious and filled the plate...and his stomach. The bartender was friendly and helpful and our waitress was engaging and personable. One other thing I loved was that it had a nice corner bar vibe but included a dining room for all ages. If I had to find one flaw, it would be that it's cash only but as long as you know that going in or at least have an adequate amount of cash on you, it's not an issue at all. They do have an ATM onsite if you don't have enough cash though. read more

Our party also had Mary's lasagna. Yummy sweet tomato sauce. Great bread on the side. Wonderful place! Wasn't feeling great so they whipped me up an off-menu dish of angel hair pasta in a garlic oil that was pure perfection. My coworker's hot pepper dish was delicious as well. Visited Jamestown for the first time... the moment we walked in we knew we were going to like this place. Sam, the bartender, greeted us like we were family. I was all set to write off The Pub as this random bar where everyone points out the non-locals, but our lunch completely surprised me. The Pub gets extra points for the customer service and frankly, just for being open when they said they'd be open, which is more than I can say for other lunch offerings in Jamestown, but that's another story altogether. If you find yourself in the area, The Pub will meet your needs. We ended up at The Pub when it seemed like no other business was open for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Upon walking in, I tried to figure out what the decor reminded me of and couldn't put my finger on it. It's dark inside, with an ambiance that reminded me a little of a tavern near a ski chalet on a snowy evening, mixed with older steakhouse. If you use your imagination, you'll see what I mean. We were able to seat ourselves at a high table by the bar and while the service wasn't particularly fast, it was really personalized towards the end. We split the goat cheese pizza, which came with spinach and tomatoes. The pizza is big enough for two people but still small enough that one person could easily inhale the whole thing. Due to the super flat crust, it felt more like a flatbread than a traditional pizza, but was still tasty nonetheless. Finally, the service from the staff and the bartender knocked our experience up from a forgettable three stars to a memorable four stars. At first, it seemed as though we were going to be ignored because we weren't regulars, and by default, weren't locals. I wish I'd learned the bartender's name, because he was happy to chat with us and keep us from unnecessary meter feeding on a weekend. He was interested in our visit to the area (Jammers game, yet again), and offered suggestions on what to do before the game since we had time to use up and didn't want to spend too much of it outside. This is the kind of service I want to see on quiet afternoons, you really get the sense that the employees want to contribute to your overall experience, especially if you aren't a local. If we find ourselves in downtown Jamestown again and need a cozy lunch spot, we'll definitely consider a return trip to The Pub. Maybe next time I'll be able to figure out what the decor reminds me of. read more

My Wife, my Son and myself trekked to Jamestown to visit The National Comedy Center. We parked in a ramp and headed for the destination. My well traveled son pointed out the Pub. We entered. It had the throwback ambiance that I like. The Bartender let out with a sincere greeting. Such hospitality, the waitress that lead us to our table was more than cheerful and welcoming. Once again my reaction was;" Such hospitality." My son pointed out they don't take credit cards. My reaction? Oh Hell thats not very hospital. My point? You're in the hospitality industry! Heavens above be hospital! My Wife and Son enjoyed their selections. I would have enjoyed my Ziti with Vodka Sauce much more if the sauce been hotter. On our way out the waitress bid us a cheerful and sincere farewell. The Bar Keep expressed their gratitude. For me the attempt at hospitality fell short. You know why. read more
