So if you buy a service contract from them for a non-Hyundai used car, you will have and impossible time getting help. It took 4 phone calls to get to someone that was helpful and ultimately the contract isn't worth it. Service is where the stars come from because those folks are always hospitable and I like how the estimates and work are provided. They of course try to add on a crap ton of extra stuff and I nearly paid $700 for $400 work because of the extras. I'm glad I have a friend called Reddit to help me with information. Of the multiple attempts tried, I had one call return stating; "I'll get back to you in 5 minutes", which never occurred. It was a opportunity for me to receive a new motor, because of the recall, but, again, I am guessing Steele didn't want to service my vehicle and take the potential hit on replacing my engine. I recently visited this dealership after speaking with a salesperson over the phone who assured me he could work out a deal based on the price they were promoting online. I confirmed the price with him, made an appointment, and drove over an hour only to find out the car had already been sold. No call, no warning, no courtesy heads-up. He then tried to show me the same model at a different price but insisted he would still "honor" the online price, even though he had also promised a better deal if I came in. The numbers he presented didn't match anything listed online, and the monthly payments they pushed were way higher than the website's own estimates for the same down payment and terms. After going back and forth with the so-called "salesperson of the month," they brought out another person manager or owner, not sure just to tell me they couldn't work with the numbers I requested. And all I asked for was $1,000 less than the online listing, which is a normal negotiation anywhere. My credit is not bad, and I was putting $5,000 down, yet they still tried to stick me with inflated payments and 60-month terms. The arrogance and cockiness from the salesperson didn't help either; he kept telling me I was "definitely walking away with a car." Funny enough, I didn't. The whole experience felt awkward, uncomfortable, and honestly like a classic bait-and-switch. And to top it off, after I left disappointed, the salesperson/manager suddenly called offering $300 off... after completely wasting my time. What makes this worse for Hyundai is that right after leaving, I went straight to a Nissan dealership and the difference was night and day. They treated me with respect, zero pressure, and were actually transparent. Because they weren't pushy or arrogant, I felt comfortable enough to upgrade and ended up purchasing a Nissan Kicks SR loaded with upgrades and luxury features. The experience was so great that when Hyundai called trying to give me that tiny $300 discount, I told them I was already on my way to Nissan and it was too late. i purchased a 2025 Santa Fe from this location. The sale process was seamless with some issues on the vehicle that were going to be addressed after I took delivery. I never heard from my salesman because I found out he quit. I was then passed from person-to-person to try and get resolution, no luck. I had to contact their sister dealership to have the issue/problem resolved. A couple of months ago, I bought my wife an new Tucson. As far as the experience on that deal, it was pretty okay. After driving her Tucson a little bit, I decided I wanted a Santa Cruz for myself. That's when things went to crap. My first salesman, James, was pretty good with communication and understood what I wanted in a vehicle. We only looked at the one I asked about, and we bought it that day. When I started looking for a Santa Cruz, James had moved into finance instead of sales. He had been training a nice kid named Joe, who I had met and so I started working with him. He tried to help, but was non-committal about things. For a couple of days, I was asking him about a particular unit and texted him today that I wanted to come see that truck. He never really gave a proper reply, but I went in anyway. I asked him about the truck, and he went in to get the key. He came back out and told me that unit was now a service loaner, and he had apparently known that for a couple of days. Needless to say, I was disappointed. Out of five Santa Cruz Limited truck listed on their website, only two were actually available. Both were white, and that was truly my only deal-breaker. We arrived about 50 minutes before they were going to close unknowingly, and they still took us in with exceptional service and kindness! We made an appointment prior but we're about 10 minutes late, we pulled up and they greeted us and inspected the car a bit before taking the key fob. The amenities inside were outstanding!!! I've never been able to brew a chai tea latte and a dirty chai for my spouse before in a car dealership and the drinks were great! They had plenty of snacks and seats, beverages and a clean area to wait. I also loved how dog friendly they were with treats and toys just in case someone brought their fur baby. We were spoken to before they worked on anything so that we knew what was covered and what was out of pocket, we were texted information as to the status of the car as well as what we would like to do today or not - with the total cost displayed before accepting. The technology used was incredibly helpful and top notch. Our technician was really great and we appreciated being able to see a video of the filter changes and recommendations in the time it was done. On check out the clerk was so nice, helpful in scanning our codes and letting us know how to drive out. Overall, we had the best experience and we will be returning all the time to service my hybrid! I reached out online and a nice salesman contacted me. He said they were offering 5K off palisades if I could come out. I told him I couldn't make it but could come next weekend and he said that would work. Next weekend my wife and I load up our baby and drive an hour to Kyle because hey, it's a good deal. We drive the car, like it, sit down to talk numbers and there's no 5K off. I'm told that was last weekend and no longer offered but they could do 1K off. This was not mentioned when I told him I could come next weekend. I might have found a way to go had he told me that. Additionally, had he told me it wasn't available before I drove out I wouldn't have come. To top it off, they require you to buy 2K worth of dealer add-ons(some kind of protection for interior/exterior as well as tint. I came back to my hometown and bought it for 3k off MSRP and no required dealer add-ons. I won't say what dealer because this isn't about that. So in short, they deceived my into wasting 2 hours driving with an 8 month old and many hours at the dealership. I would give them 5 stars for service when buying a car and usually 5 stars when you get repairs. But beware: Steele Auto group has decided to add junk fees to your repairs. They added a $3 "digital filing fee" (they used a computer?) and a 5% supplies fee (they forget to buy gloves?) and no one can explain what exactly these fees are for. None of these are quoted until you get your invoice for service and honestly the service techs looked embarrassed and deflated when questioned about them. The corporate values of Steele Auto Group are "doing the right thing with integrity". Frankly, I don't see how charging their customers for things that do not represent a benefit to the customer (junk fees) and making their frontline staff defend those junk fees shows integrity. It's just greed. I hope that corporate Steele Auto group will reflect on their values and put an end to these practices and become the industry leaders they claim to be in their corporate mission statement. read more

I called multiple times to get answers but kept being sent to voicemail and I left a message to stop business after I noticed the 9th credit pull, then they proceeded to pull it for the 10th time the following day. Where do I begin? We walked into this dealership already knowing what we wanted. A 2025 Palisade, we knew exactly what color and model we wanted. And we were there because of the Getaway promotion advertised on their website, television, and in store. We were almost immediately helped by a salesperson who already had too much on their plate (turns out they had an appt with another client not long after we arrived so we were pawned off onto another salesperson in the middle of trying to make a deal!!!) So unprofessional and so disorganized. The original salesperson also couldn't find the car we wanted to see and asked us to help them find it (I'm 6 months pregnant and it's over 100 degrees outside) at the very back of the lot. Typically they bring the car to you at the front doors and everything is seamless and catered to the customer. We finally found the car we came there for and as we are trying to negotiate a deal we learn that the dealership doesn't even know the promotion being run by Hyundai! We had to pull it up online (and point to a poster in the dealership) to prove to them that we weren't making this up and they had to honor it or we were walking. We finally got the deal we came there for and proceeded to wait hours and hours for the contract to be drawn up and for our turn to sign. You'd think while waiting for our contract that our vehicle detailing would be done? Nope! We had to wait another hour for our car. We were at this dealership for almost 9 hours. Mind you, it wasn't crowded or busy! Then we had to go back another time for a superficial scratch to be buffed out. We had an appt set before we'd left the lot at the time of sale. We live an hour away, so my husband was almost there when he received a call that they needed to reschedule. It was mid day. Not like the place had just opened. So I called to complain and they magically found someone who could get it done that day... Then, as we start getting phone calls, promotions, bills, and swag sent to us we learn it's all in my husband's name, not mine. We made it very clear that I was the primary contact, this was my car, I'm paying the bill, everything should be in my name. They said they understood. And yet somehow they managed to screw this up royally. And it can't be fixed according to Hyundai Customer Service (also extremely rude and unhelpful by the way)! We will never go back to this dealership. We had gone to another Hyundai dealership in the Central Texas area and were treated like a customer should be. Don't bother with this place. Their answering service glitches, no one ever answers the phone, and it takes them days to call back. I've spent hours just trying to get through to a person. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. Do not bring your vehicle to this dealership. They will try to upsell you on everything. I dropped my car off for service. They never called me to give me inspection results. I had to call to inquire about the status of my car. You won't get transparent timelines without having to ask for it. They also will charge you a 210$ "diagnostic" fee and refuse to waive it even if they find warranty work and you add on additional repair items. I tried to explain a technical service bulletin I found online that Hyundai put out for the issue my car was having and they wouldn't even acknowledge it. They decided to quote me 700$+ for a completely different repair that wouldn't have solved the issue. I took my car to a different mechanic for a 2nd opinion and my hunch was correct. They will choose a quick fee over providing valuable service and actually correcting the problems. read more

It's difficult to tell if the shadiness I experienced in my car buying experience is because of Hyundai policies or policies/processes at this specific dealership. Their website promised a $4000 discount but didn't list that I would be required to pay for the "dealer add-ons." Neither were any dealer add-ons listed on the site. I was told this is Hyundai's policy. One of the add-ons was a tint job that 1) wouldn't have cost that much at a tint place (for the type of tint it was) and 2) has noticeable bubbles on multiple windows, one of which is about the size of a quarter. I can't find their tint provider and applier anywhere on the internet, which also seems suspicious. There were a few other "not cool" things they did, and I told them that it was "not cool." But, if the finance guy and the salespeople are just doing their jobs as instructed, how high do my complaints reach? Probably not very high. Do your research, come absolutely prepared with extra knowledge, and question every thing they say. You will have to be extra proactive. If they promise you something, get it in writing. If there is an item on any piece of paper that is more than $1, ask about what that item is for -- cause it might be for several things that they don't tell you about unless you ask. If you sign ANYTHING, take a picture of what you've signed. Additionally, keep in mind that the employee turnover at this location is HIGH. Someone you email yesterday might not be there today, and there isn't anyone looking at their emails to avoid lost communication. Communication between departments is poor as well. All of this says to me that the management of the dealership is a problem. The sales people were being typical sales people, and they were very nice and competent (four stars for them!). The financial people were just doing their job (three and a half stars for them). I did leave the dealership with a car that I like for a mostly reasonable price. The car gets four stars, but this dealership gets two. read more

I went there to purchase the Hyundai palisade. Walked in and started talking to the sales person, talked interest rates, numbers, add-ons so that everything seemed like the deal was moving forward. I was there 2 1/2 hours and they told me a few times the system was down, they couldn't run my credit, they were having trouble with the computers, that delayed the deal moving forward. Finally a sales manager came over to me and said "well, it happened, the other deal went through." That deal started the night before and they were waiting for the final credit approval! They kept me there that entire time hedging their bets, hoping that if the other deal did not go through then I would be there to buy that same car. The manager said that these saying sometimes happen and that the car that I was looking for (like the one they just sold out from underneath me) just doesn't exist. Well, two days later they called and asked if I was still interested in that car. So I guess it does exist. I told them no way! They kept me in the dealership lying to me about stalling tactics waiting on some other deal to go through and that was extremely dishonest, disingenuous, and otherwise shady. I told him I was interested in buying a palisade but I would certainly not buy it from them. This was happening at the manager level. I can only assume that this is condoned at other levels in the organization and there's no way I would trust buying from them. About a week later I went to Southpoint Honda in Austin and had a very good, straightforward buying experience. **edit. I also finally just had plates mailed out on Friday (if they actually did it). My husband bought a new vehicle from Toyota a week after me and received his plates a week later. Son's first car buying experience was a big disappointment here. Found the used car online and called to confirm it was available. Drove 45 min to see car and salesman said it was sold. No similar used car on the lot, but he suggested a new car for about $1.5k more. (Bait/switch.) Shown a car with $1,500 protectant sticker. Outside, it was explained as optional warranty. Son was willing to increase his budget and started filling out paperwork. Lots of time spent waiting at a desk for salesman to go see someone/get another form/etc. 1 hr after we got there, we get the first price sheet. Additional costs elevated the final cost about $7k over price of advertised used car. Negotiations began about $1.5k protectant cost. It was not non-negotiable. We said it was a deal breaker and 25 min later, best offer was they would reduce that cost by $500. We were adamant that we didn't want that warranty. Also now told that another couple on site was now looking at the same car. Salesman, "They are nodding the heads a lot and look like they was it." My son stuck to his guns and another 20 min later a price sheet was brought back to him with same monthly/#months estimate, but all of $1.5k taken off. BUT now he said that we were there first, but the other people had first right of refusal. It was suggested that if we accept the first offer, we could sign on the car. Price was much higher than what he travelled there for and we hadn't even seen the financing guy for real numbers. 20ish min after the last accepted offer, we were told the other people got that car. "Let me show you some other cars that could work for you." Around 3 hours spent in the haggle-filled, mystery number, delay tactic-rich journey and we left. FYI: we now know that Hertz Rental Co Auto Sales in San Antonio has better used car prices, with absolutely no hidden/mystery pricing and no pressure. I have had and still am enduring the worst experience ever in communicating with a car dealership ever!! I have traded in numerous cars in my life (79yrs) and have never had this problem. My credit union still has not received a payoff check even though after numerous calls, emails, voicemails with no response, last Friday I was told that a new check was sent out via FedEx. I was greatly relieved. Here it is Thursday evening the following week and still no check! My credit union has taken out a payment for last month and another payment for this month is coming up, along with the new car payment that I had purchased from them. These guys are not good avoid them. They sold my mom a duplicate electronic key, and they didnt program correctly. When I called to ask about it they said it was too long ago and they would not deal it. We also had a factory recall that we needed done and they said they were unable to deal with that for several months. I called a locksmith who fixed the key in 15 minutes, and I scheduled the recall work with another Hyundai dealer. I dont have to deal with Steal any more. read more

They kept my car a full week until I got fed up and went to go get my car back regardless if it was ready or not and they hadn't even ran the diagnostic yet. And they told me they would update me by text and never did. I think I called them around 10 times just wanting an update on my car and each time I got sent to voicemail. When I first visited here in December they were owned by Roger Beasley. The sales person I dealt with, David, was super friendly, informative, and communicative. They had me come in to test drive a car similar to the one I wanted and gave me a tour of the dealerships. I put myself down on a waitlist for a hybrid car and since then had received routine updates about my status on the waitlist. My initial experience was very positive. However, after a couple of months of routine correspondence I stopped hearing back from the sales person I dealt with initially. I then saw an ad about new ownership for this dealer so figured things had changed. Their ad touted the fact that they and a huge inventory of cars, which is misleading. I sent in an online request when the exact car I wanted showed up in their inventory list. Since the original dealership email and phone number I had didn't work any more these online forms were the only way I could reach anyone there. I received a phone call from someone named Tony instead. He claimed he worked for the dealer but the more I think about it I feel like it was an outside Hyundai corporate person as I never got a straight answer about my status on the waitlist or when this car would be coming in. Nor did I ever feel like the information I was requesting was making it to the sales person at the dealership. I was told David, the original sales person I spoke and met with still worked there. However, I never spoke with him either via phone call, email, or text as he had done before the new ownership change. Since Steele took over I never heard from any sales person in fact ever again. It's like you had to go through some gatekeeper just to get ahold of a sales person. I filled out all the requested documents online to hold the car I had been waiting for only to receive a call that in order to finalize everything I would need to come into the dealership. I was told they would let me know when the car was due to arrive. Of course that call never came and the car sold to some one else. Oh well, it's just a thing and I've heard the Hyundai hybrid systems and longevity aren't as great compared to Toyota. One of my neighbors bought a car from Steele Hyundai and I was told they let them hold the car with a deposit over the phone. Not sure why I was treated differently. I'm just disappointed that this dealer really doesn't seem to care about the customer since given the supply chain issue they hold all the cards. Everyone I spoke with there was nice and courteous, but that didn't help me toward my goal of acquiring a car. In fact it just gave me false hope that if I waited long enough the car I wanted would be mine. As new owners in the area it would have been nice if the considered locals and original wait lists. It would just be nice if they considered the fact that there isn't always going to be such a huge demand for cars with a looming recession.
