Single patty Bacon cheese burger & onion rings...$12.06
    Ed G.

You must use one of the 4 ordering kiosks to view the menu. Their menu is not displayed anywhere but on the kiosk ordering stations. So, if it gets busy, and the kiosks are occupied, you can not look at the menu. If your one that doesn't have a smart phone, you'll have to wait to view the options and then order. I see this as a weak link for customer service. Fortunately, there was only myself and another customer in the restaurant at that time(5:30pm). I ordered a bacon Swiss double combo with a large order of onion rings, and a drink. My total was a bit more than I'd expect for a cheese burger, onion rings, and a "regular" size drink...$12.06

Would you put this on your burger?
    Karen O.

I ordered a hamburger from here. First I had to pull a very wilted piece of lettuce off. The second bite I snagged a piece of onion that was the onion peel with multiple tentacles attached. I included a picture of it on their napkin, so I had proof. Would you put this on YOURS or ANYONE ELSE? I can't believe that these two condiments weren't noticed by the person making the burger. The onions were grilled on top of not noticing it was the peel!

I get coupons in the mail all the time for this burger place, so I thought I would give it a try. I went thru the drive thru, so cannot comment on the interior. There are burgers, chicken strips, and chili. You can get either fries or onion rings. To drink are the usual soft drinks and a large number of milk shakes. I got the double cheeseburger, fries and a Kit Kat milkshake. If you go between 2-5 PM all milkshakes are 1/2 off. Otherwise I would not get a shake, but it was excellent. The burger was about a 5 on a 1-10 scale. It was not as tasty as some other burger establishments. The fries are thinner than other fast food restaurants but I liked them. So for less than $7, I had a pretty high calorie ic meal. I mighT not go out of my wY to go again, but the prices are good.

The Steak 'n Shake footprint has shrunk dramatically in the past few years. Now, the closest one to my home is nearly 500 miles. It's probably been 10 years since I've been able to get to one, so it has taken on an almost talismanic dimension for me. The Steakburger and chili are as good as ever, but sadly the fries were only lukewarm, so it wasn't quite the perfect Steak 'n Shake experience I have been longing for. But it was still satisfying, and I will look forward to my next opportunity to dine here. I miss the china and table service, though. Too bad some things must pass away forever. Still, I am glad that they are still in business.

A solid concept, and a well-established tradition are the first couple things that come to mind when I think of Steak-N-Shake. I have been to many different locations and their level of consistency between each of their stores are a little wide in my experience. Some locations are great, and some others need a little help. This location is decent. One reviewer said something about this store smelling like an armpit, but I didn't notice anything foul, odor or otherwise at this store. Sometimes it is just a bad day; people can have them...and so can businesses. But honestly, I have only been to this location a few times. Still, I would think that if a restaurant smelled foul and looked like a sewer station, no one would be in there, and everytime I've been here, they were always half full at least. I like their cheeseburgers, which are actually made from ground steak, but their shakes are sublime! And those shakes come in a cornucopia of flavors. I usually get the strawberry, which is excellent, but I also like to try new things, and Steak-N-Shake has got you covered, if you want a continuum of variety in your shakes or malts. It feels like Sockhop Saturday nights in there 24/7. I can't help but feeling like I might see "Ward Cleaver" and "The Beave" stop in for some swell shoestring french fries, and of course, some steak and shake too!

Not a huge fan of this place. When you walk in, you hit a wall of funk: it smells as if someone wiped their armpits all over the walls and floor. It's nasty: however, after two more steps the smell goes away. The floors are always super sticky. I've been here a handful of times, and not once have the floors seemed clean. The tables are the same-super sticky. I wouldn't set your food down on it unless you bring wet wipes. The workers are all nice enough people, but pretty clueless. I was here with a friend, and he asked for a plain burger. After what seemed like an hour (it was about 25 minutes), his burger came out... with everything on it. He gave it back to the waitress, specifying that he wanted nothing on it. 10 minutes later she came back with another burger, with everything on it. My friend gave up and ate the burger, because the waitress didn't know what she was doing. However, she was nice about it the whole time, so I give her credit for that. The actual food here is mediocre. I ate a burger, which came out very rubbery and not too tasty. That being said, the shakes are what to get: they're big, they're thick, and they're very rich. I ordered a mint Oreo shake, and I would 100% get it again. I only have two problems with the shakes; they are super expensive, coming in at around 5 dollars per shake, and I'm not sure that the glasses they come in are clean . Still, it's a damn good shake. If and when I come back here, it's going to be to stop by for a shake. That's it- I don't want to spend a whole lot of time here. 2/5

Turkey club with fries, beef chili, and ice tea FTW! Satisfying! Tasty!
    Ebenezer's Anni L.

This place brings me back to my grad school days decades ago when there was a Steak 'n Shake around the corner! Good times! While I love the specialty burgers, I really enjoy the Turkey club, 3-way chili Mac, and ice tea. Join the many cheapskates who come in hordes for half-price shakes and drinks from 2-5 on weekdays! Bargain! The seating here is plentiful and comfortable. The windows are large and the dining room is well-lit so you can see what you are are ramming into your pie hole! This place has a large parking lot, unlike the trendy, hipster douchebag eateries downtown. Pay up, you maggots! The pace is pretty laid-back. The servers will not hurry you out if you eat slow or are just enjoying your meal. Enjoy! Solid eats here.

Tasty cheese selections and a generous amount of bread and crackers. Their cocktails are ON POINT. The Pep in Your Step blended the mezcal flavor wonderfully. The Nightshade Martini was one of the most unique cocktails I've ever had. I enjoyed my pasta, though I had wanted to order a seafood dish and they were out of mussels. Definitely a bit of a bummer. I remember the beans in the smoked duck dish being especially good. My one complaint about this place is the menu seems to feel similar each time I'm there (months to years between visits). Like there's always a similar fish dish and a curry. I guess I just wish there were different options because the menu is relatively small. Excited to return for another visit in the future and would like to try their lunch offering as well!

The salad was fresh and well dressed - simple but good. The second starter was sardine tin. Very very good. Not overly fishy and the garnishes served with it were perfect. For mains which are enough to share, one was the trout! Absolutely well seasoned and crispy. It is served whole and butterflied. We changed the side to the house vegetable. OMG these sautéed garden veggies were the best! The other main was a Japanese curry dish. Here is why the five starting dropped to a four. It was just ok. We would not order again. For dessert we had the bread pudding- another star for the night! To the owner, terrific staff. Everyone we engaged in, were positive and knowledgeable. They are a great team! Looking forward to a second visit!

AMBIANCE = 4 I have read reviews that inside is dated. I am ok with it. The changes going on in Ann Arbor. It is nice to see stability. Be thankful a place weathering city transformation and not closing thier doors. If things get renovated so do the prices. With the price of food... 2. FOOD/DRIINKS = 4 I had Salomon. Other two had White Fish. London Broil. No one had any complaints. Food was well flavored and enjoyed the meal. Beer was Two Hearted on tap. Good. Red wine was house and had robust flavor. 3. SERVICE = 5 Our server was on top of everything. Friendly. Not overbearing. Drinks came in good order as well as food. 4. BATHROOM = 4 Clean and maintained. 5. PRICING = 3 On part for the times we live in. Inflation of the last 4 years created new norms. One area that tends to change is tipping. With wages for michigan getting to $15.00 all that has to play into pricing. So I give cash tips. The whole thing of putting tip pricing on the bill. I think many see it. 1. Brussel sprout appt. $15.00. 2. Meals were $27.00. If you went with steaks things get pricey. But if one follows news the beef herds are being reduced. So days of low cost beef meals are in the past. We just do not eat out as much so when we do it is a treat. 6. OBSERVATION The bar area was full. What I liked for a Thursday night is number of trades people at the bar. Parking is adequate. Not sure what a Friday or Saturday would look like... We were seated at table near bar area. One comment was we would have choose a booth the next time. Noise level in our area was loud. 7.
