Today's visit was unexpected and just fine. Our family loves steak and shake so when we see them we stop. The new kiosk ordering, self service food pickup and drink stations are easy to utilize. The kiosk could be a little more user friendly, had to swipe and press buttons harder than needed but was able to order everything we needed. Wish they'd reopen the locations in Texas. We were checked on by staff so that was nice since there's no more waiters. Enjoy! read more

On a whim, my dining companion and I decided to visit Steak & Shake. I think we were motivated by a billboard touting beef tallow fries. Unlike days of old, there is no counter staff to take your order any longer. There are several computer kiosks with which to enter your order. It takes time! It was so easy to order a burger, shake and fries. Now you have to select the burger and then the toppings, the fries, then the drink and by the time you order the second meal, someone is like wait I have to go back and fix my order. By the time you're done, it's been five minutes. Our name was called, and we picked up the drinks. A banana shake and a chocolate shake. Neither was ordered with whipped cream or a cherry, but the banana shake arrived with the whipped cream and cherry. A check of the receipt shows, we didn't pay extra for it, though there is an upcharge for them. No matter, the shakes were thick and creamy. Exactly what you want from a shake. A few minutes later, the burgers were ready. We ordered an Original Double Steakburger with Cheese and Beef Tallow Fries and a Butter Single Steakburger and Beef Tallow Fries. Our name was called a second time and the rest of the meal was ready to be retrieved from the counter. The burgers were juicy and delicious, as were the fries. I couldn't discern a difference between the way Steak and Shake's fries used to be prepared and the beef tallow fries they are serving now. I cannot say enough about how nice the people were here but also the burger was one of the best I have ever had! Everything is cooked to order, of course, but the buns are fresh and soft and delicious and everything was just great. The restaurant could use a little bit of cleaning or maintenance, but they seemed understaffed. The staff definitely did what they could to go above and beyond to be nice to my kids and make good food. I would definitely recommend eating here. read more

Have to order food from kiosk and no option for special request. Verbally asked for mayo and mustard to be "on the side" and was told it is and is out front. Also, only option for tea was sweet. When we picked up the order, mustard and mayo were on the burger. Not having someone to speak with is not helpful. The cook is supposed to cook, not assist customers with the kiosk and then not listen to questions. Visited this location and it lived up to it's 1.5 stars please do yourself a favor and drive the extra miles to go to the other one next to inland gas station, this one was just horrible the burger did not come in a box which lead to grease all over my seat, which it was dark at the time of my order so I had not realized until to late. We opted to sit at the counter to watch the action at the grill. Our server was very nice and prompt at assisting us. But it was the food that really stood out. My Mother-in-Law ordered a stack of blueberry pancakes and, I venture to say that they were better than IHOP, whose namesake is pancakes! They were light and fluffy and, not only were fresh blueberries added to the batter but, a hot blueberry compote was served on the side. Such a perfect bite! Hubby and I split an order of biscuits and gravy with a duo of sunny side up eggs. It was a very generous portion and the gravy was piping hot. One of the egg whites was undercooked, but better under than over for me. We don't visit often, but we do enjoy their milkshakes and that kids eat free on Sunday's. The service is hit or miss. The burgers are a bit greasy and the taco salad is sub per. We usually eat here when we need a cheap place to eat because it's close to our home. read more

I have ate at this one twice. Today, Dec. 8th. And a week ago. The first time, mediocre service but good food. I chalked up the slow service to an off day and maybe overwhelmed. They had the tiniest guy busing tables all by himself. And it was hard for him to keep up to get tables cleaned for customers to be seated in a timely manner. Today, was 10x WORSE. At first it seemed like they were just busy and understaffed. No one was busing tables for the servers. We seated ourselves because no one was paying attention to the customers waiting to be seated. The only reason we got a table was because the people that were sat there, took one look at the menu and left. It was, my dad, his gf, my 5 year old daughter and I. She needed a kids menu, luckily I grabbed one of the host stand. But there was no crayons. We asked 3x for crayons. Another server brought them to us. We saw our server just a few times. I'm not sure if she was new, didnt care, or what? But no refills, no napkins, no silverware. She didnt once tell us her name, ask if everything was okay or needed anything. We asked for napkins, we asked for silverware and were brought one set. We waited over 40 mins for our food to be brought out. And it was no longer busy at this point and hadn't been for 30 mins. My daughter's hot dog came out looking overcooked, shriveled and burnt. I asked for a side of l/t and mayo to go with it. It did not come out. My sandwich, spicy chicken with pepper jack cheese and cheese fries was cold. It sat in the window too long. They did remake it. My dad's girlfriend got the 4 for $4. Asked twice for her cup of soup they forgot, and never got it. We were charged for all of it. We did speak to a manager about all of this as well. The bathrooms is what set me off to write this review. I worked for over 3 years in a kitchen at a busy seafood restaurant (best on Pensacola Beach btw) and I now own my own cleaning company. So when I walked into a restroom with a foul rotten smell, grime all over everything. And footprints from a dirty shoe on a baby changing station....I am not a happy person. I hope someone that can change things reads this and and fixes things. The serving staff needs a lesson on efficiency, customer service and how to smile. They need to know how to properly bus tables and clean bathrooms. And do not let your customer's food sit in the window for 5+ minutes dying! read more

I've been to this location 3 times in the past couple months, each time hoping our experience would be better than the last.. the food is good (if you actually end up receiving it) but the service is probably the worst i've ever had. we waited 15 minutes for our drink order to be taken. all we ordered was a milkshake and 2 orders i of fries. we waited another hour and still received nothing.. except for 4 waters that we didn't even order. i saw the wait staff in the back by the drink station talking for at least 5 minutes while we still had received no service. needless to say we won't be back. on top of all this, we tried to leave and they still made us pay for the food that we didn't even get to enjoy. would NOT recommend. read more

It started out great as usual today, they waitress even allowed us to order out of menu, since my husband wanted lunch and a burger. Waitress was great, people were nice. However, the wait time was ridiculous. It was almost an hour of wait time. I figured hey, maybe it's because of the burger. Yet, the food arrived my eggs were too raw to eat. The hash brown disgusting. I ate my pancakes and the burnt bacon. My husband's burger was cold. When we paid, the kitchen was pretty nasty (trust me I've worked in kitchens before and do know the procedures) Today's experience was not great, at all. 22 minutes wait!!! Mike and I ordered 2 burgers, 3 PM in the afternoon. Only one car in front of us. We were on our way to Panama Beach. Decided to get off Expressway for a quick bite. Options were McDonald's or Stake and Shake. Unfortunately we opted to go to stake and Shake. Signs in drive thru were broken and discolored. Walls had mold. That gave us a really bad vibe but we were already there... Anyway, 22 min later we got our burgers. They tasted ok. Defenetly not worth the wait.
