Shouldn't have been a big deal. They overfilled a shake, and it had ice cream in the sides of the lid and already running down the cup. I had a long drive and the shake was for my daughter, so I asked them to clean it up and give me a new lid. The guy I dealt with was ok, but when he took it to another employee, you'd have thought I asked for something extreme. His body language conveyed to me, the customer, how very much a problem I was. And then (I kid you not) he proceeded to REMAKE the entire shake! When it turned out the same as the first, he was clearly disgusted as he slammed it right into the trash can. He then got a new cup, scraped the top off the first shake, poured it in the new cup and added toppings. Finally fixed it right. But he wasted a whole shake for no reason and made me feel like I had caused a major issue when all I wanted was a new lid. And then there's the fact that Steak and Shake's advertising team is willing to stoop to plagiarism. Eat mor bef? Seriously? Chick Fil A should sue. read more

This place was absolutely trash on customer service. Waited 15 mins in the drive through for two milkshakes. Which it wasn't until the person in the back who was smoking... yelled inside asking what was going on. Then once I got up to the window, I had to ask for a receipt. I placed an order online. Went in to pick up and was ignored so I went through the drive thru. They tried giving me 3 different orders before I got mine. It had the wrong sauce and the fries were limp and cold. Went back through the drive thru and was told it was my fault because I ordered online. They replaced the fries but I was told it would not happen again if I ordered online. The only thing you don't do for yourself inside this Steak 'n Shake is prepare the food. Fast food is too expensive to be horrible. Most places I go to when ordering online make my food when I get there. Need to do better! read more

If you're really craving Steak n Shake, order ahead and pick it up. Otherwise, unless you're a college student wanting to hang out all night, get a burger literally anywhere else. I don't eat at a Steak n Shake unless I'm willing to wait, but the Muncie chain stands alone as the slowest and worst. Once, I waited in the drive thru for my Sunday dinner for AN HOUR. Why didn't I just leave? Honestly, I didn't have anywhere else to be and just wanted to see how long they'd make me wait. Still asked me to pay. Yesterday, my boyfriend and I went for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was horribly understaffed. The place wasn't full but it took five minutes for us to be seated and another five at least before our waitress even came over to greet us. Then another 30 minutes for our double steakburgers and fries to come out. Managers were standing in the service window talking. Also, the ceiling was leaking from multiple places. One family moved themselves from their booth because they were being dripped on. Again, order ahead and pick it up if you have to. Won't be back again to sit in the restaurant or the drive thru. Why don't we have these in Hawaii? We NEED these in Hawaii! They make fast burgers right. The ambiance is nice, the burgers and shakes are good, the price is awesome. I know the previous reviews say that price is a little high, but I'm used to $10-$12 burgers (without fries, so sad!) so I thought I was getting an uber steal. I forgot what it was called, but I had a burger with onions and barbeque sauce. MMMmmmMMmm! Anything with barbeque sauce, onions, and/or bacon has my heart! You can also get limeades and cherry coke, among other things. Super bonus points that the manager came to check on us. That means he was super confident in his product and his staff. ordered from a kiosk only and machine asked for a tip (of course leaving a tip). food came out in good time, but they forgot things and they wouldn't look over at you and i had to yell to get someone to come over. multiple tables were dirty and hardly anyone in dining area. and DON't go in the restroom (hasn't been cleaned since new). need someone of steak 'n shake power to walk in for a surprise visit. read more

Literally beyond words & comprehension of how bad this steak and shake is. I am a glutton for punishment. I've been coming since 2014 & every time, no matter what time of the day, or who is working, to what season of the year, the staff has never failed to surprise me of how bad they literally can screw everything up. From hair in my food, to giving me the wrong order, to refusing to giving me a refund on food they never gave me. It's my hope that maybe corporate will see this be aware of how subpar this location is. The service is unacceptable. No locals who know better come here anymore. Please, put a hair net on so I don't have to ever see your beard hair in my food again. Please, don't make me ever wait over half an hour to make an order again. Please! Ok. The steak burgers are good. The time that you wait is awful. Is it the servers? Depends. They are at the mercy of the back of the house. Steak and Shake has a terrible set up due to lay out which gives the servers more time to stage in their area in n cell phones. Honestly, this is a bad layout the is only saved by their food. I was looking for a great burger joint and while visiting BSU with my father and sister I overheard someone speak highly of Steak N Shake. I'm from the East Coast and upon walking in, it automatically reminded me of Johnny Rockets. Just like Johnny Rockets it wasn't anything special. The burgers we ordered were okay, not bad but not great. The decor was cool and the wait staff were really polite. The only reason I rated it 3 stars was because they handed us the check without us asking for it and where I'm from that's really rude. Arrived a little after 11:00 p.m. and got halfway to the door before I saw the handwritten sign letting you know that only the drive thru was open. There were people in the dining room, but I get it. It's just that the handwritten sign was pretty tacky, assuming they probably use it every night. Placed my order at the drive through. Pulled around, and there was one car ahead of me already at the window. I waited 13 minutes behind them, and then it took another 4 minutes for mine for a 17-minute wait from order to driving away. One burger. Fries. Soda. Shake. Ketchup (which was an additional wait). 17 minutes. This drive thru is not setting any speed records. At least not fast ones. Never been to Steak n' Shake so visiting my mom we came in for lunch. On west coast you never see any of these so I was excited. First glance I got the whole Johnny Rocket feel. Cool to have somewhere cheap that you can sit and order from. All I can say about the food really it wasn't bad. The burgers were good not great...the fries are really not that good plain. If you get like chili cheese fries I thought they were pretty good. Honestly though just the fry not that great. So cheap though that's what I loved we serious got tons and tons of food for $25. We ordered shakes during half off and that's awesome deal for yummy shakes. Service was slow! Very slow but very friendly. read more

This Steak 'n Shake establishment is the furthest thing from fine dining any human could ever endure. Not only were the servers rude but we were cut in line waiting for our table. The tall waiter with a gotee seemed like a very nice man however he was not out waiter. My chicken tasted more like rubber than a rubber chicken tastes like rubber. Super slow! Every time we come here we never get our shakes till the end of the meal. If you're doing drive thru be prepared to wait about half an hour for even the simplest orders. I've always loved steak and shake, but this one I won't be returning to. When we got here, we had to wait to be seated with about 4 parties in front of us and 3 behind. There were multiple tables that were dirty yet the employees seemed like they were seeing how long they could go without bussing them. When we finally got seated, we waited for about 15+ minutes when a server finally came up to greet us. The table behind us came in before us, and waited probably 20 more minutes for DRINKS. Hadn't even gotten their order taken by then, I can't believe they stayed! I ordered just chx fingers and salad. The salad came out with the longest piece of hair on the very top, which surprised me that the server didn't see it. Our food came out cold, but didn't want to send back in worry that we would be waiting another 45 minutes for our food. Then about 25 minutes waiting on a shake. Won't be back! read more

So I came in pretty late after work and saw that they were busy and I was fine waiting a bit because I have worked in the industry of food service. Instead I revived good service almost immediately from one of the servers and then was very impressed by another server who's name was Chris as he was actively being productive and cleaning and was helping people quickly. Went through the drive thru this evening for a simple order. I ordered a chocolate shake yet got Banana Chocolate Shake which I didn't end up drinking. Both of the orders of fries I got were cold and soggy. The burger was cold as well. I don't mind waiting longer in the drive thru to actually get my order correct and hot. I will never go to this location again! HORRIBLE!!! Be sure to double check your drive thru order. And who wants to now deal with going back and complaining about an incorrect messed up order on a cold snowy slick night.
