How great can the food be, really? Um, pretty freaking great, actually. I got a fish sandwich, which was a long filet of battered and fried fish, served on an ultra-soft hoagie roll, with a little lettuce and tartar sauce inside. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside, and flaky and soft on the inside. It's the type of thing that I didn't want to stop eating, because the combination of textures was just perfect. Handhelds are served with a side, and I chose the side Caesar salad. It was an OK Caesar, and it did its job to satisfy my CaeSal craving. It comes with red onions on top, which is a choice. The service here was great. The restaurant has a big bar in the middle, with TVs showing sports. The whole place is surrounded by windows, so you can see out into downtown Muncie.

The staff was dropping F bombs that could be heard out in the restaurant. Good thing there weren't any children in the lobby. The kiosks timed out while helping my older Aunt with her order so everything had to be done more than once. Not to mention the kiosks were showing they were out of Green Goddess salad dressing, chips, and a certain kind of bread for a particular sandwich. It just seemed like when we made alternate choices to satisfy the kiosk it didn't matter because in fact they did have chips, Green Goddess salad dressing and who knows if that bread was in fact in stock! The kiosk doesn't accept cash, which is enough to never return to any location. Cash is legal tender in case you forgot and not made easy to use because there isn't really staff at the register. The bathroom was so gross, the floors, & honestly it made me wonder how dirty the kitchen was. The trouble is, we went out as a family with my sick Aunt who had wanted Panera and who doesn't get out much because of her illness. It was such a disappointment for her and we felt guilty we took her to such a gross location. Get it together Panera.

We'd eaten at this location five or six years ago when camping in the area, so figured it'd be a good time to try it again. This restaurant has seen an update since our last visit. The inside is brightly colored and has definitely improved since our last visit. It's brightly colored and the furniture looks new. I'm often the kind of person that finds what he likes at a restaurant and sticks with. For Subway, it's always been the B.M.T. In this case "always" equal literally over 30 years. I'd stray once in a while, but if I were to do the math, it'd be around 98% that my Subway order will be a B.M.T. On this particular visit, however, I spotted something on the menu called the "Spicy Nacho" sub. Well, you just hit me with a One- Two- punch because "spicy" and "nacho" are my middle names. (not really). The nice lady described it to me and she barely put a period at the end of her sentence when I committed to it and ordered it. And, since Jim is stepping outside of his comfort zone, I ordered 2 cookies instead of a bag of chips that I'd probably save for later anyway. It's almost as if this visit was Jim going out on a limb. (For those that may be wondering, that rhyme was not intentional but it worked, so I'm leaving it in.) Ok, it's not often that I'm WOW'd by something in fast food, but the Spicy Nacho sub did just that. Could it be because the only thing I have to compare it to, really, is the B.M.T.? Or could it be because it was just REALLY good? Either way, I loved it. I didn't expect the jalapeño and the sriracha sauce to work so well together, but they did. Will the Spicy Nacho sub replaced the B.M.T.? I'd have to try it a few times before I make that decision. Then again, as fast food is, it'll probably go away in a month or two. Fast food LOVES to take away things that Jim really likes. The store was VERY clean when we walked in. Table and trash were clean, the drink station was clean and fully stocked. The staff (both of the young ladies working) were fun and helpful. There's a nice patio out front for warm weather enjoyment.
