Best bread ever. A little gluten never REALLY hurt anybody.

This was our first visit to a Jimmy John's in Muncie, IN. But this one was different. My husband and I were impressed with the QUICKNESS...as in REALLY FAST! I ordered the #5 from the left side of the board; hubby ordered #6 from the right side. Both had something Italian in them...that's why we can't recall the names of the sandwiches we ate. But one thing in for sure: It's great for a broke college student on a weekend food budget. If you want to nuke your sub, take it home. (No microwaves in sight so if you have a pacemaker, c'mon down!) If you like to read, there are quirky sayings everywhere from the windows to the walls and the ceiling to the floor...some great advice where you least expect it while chomping on your sandwich. And oh my goodness!!! Those JIMMY CHIPS!!! They actually have more chips in the bag than air AND they are GOOD! No stale taters up in here! I'm not a big chipster but I truly relished the salt and vinegar chips. (Sorry Lays, you're off my list. No one can eat just one single Jimmy Chip!) So of all the sub sandwich stores in the Muncie area, the quality: 5 out of 5. Price: 5 out of 5. Service from both Jimmy and from John (not their real names but really great workers, 4.9 out of 5 because only Jesus is perfect.)

Walking in is like walking into a museum of sorts. Gas station memorabilia alongside coke memorabilia etc. has you stepping back in time. Housed in what looks like an old gas station, this place drips of nostalgia. Ordering at the counter before being seated, we were waited on by a cheerful young woman who didn't make us feel rushed. It had been five years since we had last been, so we needed a refresher course. We ordered the Cammack Cheesy Jalapeño Burger on Texas toast each. Husband had loaded tots with cheese and chili and I opted for a side of onion rings. My mom had the pulled pork on Texas toast and onion rings. Dad had the breaded tenderloin with sweet potato fries. The food was phenomenal. The onion rings were fresh and plentiful. The tots were delicious. The burger? Spicy and extremely tasty! Everything was perfect. The marshmallow cokes just added to it all. Yum! Husband had the peanut butter explosion for dessert. Frozen custard, softened peanut butter, Reese's Pieces and peanut butter cups topped with cream and a cherry. A must try. I chose the one scoop sundae with hot fudge and peanuts. Excellent. While this restaurant may be a little out of the way, it is most definitely worth the trip! Highly recommend!

That right there told me they don't mind being different in the style of food they serve! After checking over the menu full of wraps and burgers amongst a plethora of other bar food I ended up getting some wings to try and the house made chips. I got half my wings in the BBQ flavor and the other Buffalo. Being honest the wings weren't anything special but they did hit the spot and the BBQ sauce wasn't anything special to me on the wings but if it was used in some pulled pork or ribs I believe I would enjoy it more. The buffalo sauce was really good and had just enough heat to need the ranch here and there. The house made chips were good, not overly seasoned and not over cooked either. The place is small but has a handful of high top round tables and a few bigger square tables in the front with a decent bar strip with plenty of bottles and beers on tap. The pool table in the side room looked like a great area to hang around and play some pool while enjoying some beers with the company of friends. Next time I'm in town I will try one of their countless burger options!

I don't play with donuts. I'm a donut-eating fool. Donuts are my thing. I have glaze running through my bloodstream. I've never eaten better donuts than the ones I got from Concannon's in Muncie. In fact, I'm planning another trip to Muncie JUST to visit Concannon's and get some donuts. What's a two-hour round-trip drive when you can be rewarded with amazing donuts during your journey? I visited Concannon's by myself, and although I wanted one of each of the donuts they had in the bakery case, I limited myself to three donuts: a glazed pretzel-shaped yeasted donut, a blueberry cake donut and an old fashioned donut. My go-to at any donut shop is usually a glazed twist, but they don't have glazed twists here! Instead, they have a glazed pretzel-shaped donut, which turned out to have all of the elements of a glazed twist, but it was just bigger and more twisty. It was amazing, pillowy, slightly sweet and even more delicious when you pull it apart with your fingers and eat it bit by bit. The blueberry cake and old-fashioned donuts were my favorites, though. These melted in my mouth, especially the old-fashioned. It was so tender and fresh. The old-fashioned is one of those kinds of donuts that I wish I enjoyed with some coffee, but instead, I ate it solo while dancing around delightedly in my hotel room. Concannon's has lots of other sweets, desserts and baked goods, like cakes (including mini cakes and individual cake slices), cookies, whoopie pies, chocolates, popcorn, candies and all sorts of other goodies. There is also a cafe with coffee and other beverages available. This is a must-visit if, like me, you love donuts, but also a must-visit in general because it's such a Muncie institution.

While I grew up on Concannons and it delicious, they use super refined ingredients. I don't know if it's cheap overly refined sugar or cheap overly bleached flour. But there's something to it. The flavor is there, but I can't breathe afterwards and my body shuts down. It's hardly organic or clean. Wish the would fix this, cause I'd love to suooort local and I'm willing to pay more. I only eat their food when my family buys. But I wouldn't buying my own because I feel congested, fat, exhausted after eating.
