My all time favorite pizza growing up in Muncie. Service was efficient on taking our order. The restaurant was clean and my table had been wiped down. The men's room was also clean with proper supplies, Pizza arrived within 20 minutes. We ordered their famous Royal Feast. So yummy! I miss PK living in Virginia. Just order a sub w/onion only & got one with everything including mayo which I'm very allergic to. Called back to explain THEIR" error explained nicely that I ordered only onion b/c I'm allergic to mayonnaise/mayo & was told 'that's the way it comes unless you say differently. I was with a group of friends who wanted to return to Muncie to eat at a Pizza King, a place they used to hang out when they were BSU students 50 years ago. Although the original location was somewhere close to or in the "Village", we settled on this one. I had never been to a Pizza King. They didn't have them in my hometown and now that I'm an adult, I rarely go out for pizza. So, I didn't know what to expect. I was surprised that when you grab a table (sit anywhere you want here), there are a couple menus already on the table. When you are ready to place an order, you don't flag down a waiter...you pick up the phone by your table and call it in, using the table number listed on the phone. Before long, our drinks arrived and then about ten minutes later, our Bread Stix showed up. We got five or six breadsticks that were served with a garlic flavor and a shared cheese cup for dipping. Wow! Really tasty sticks and cheese. My wife thought about ordering just breadsticks and forget about eating a meal! ha! Not long after we devoured the sticks, our meals arrived. Our two guests each got a pan pizza (one ordered a barbecue sauce instead of the tomato sauce and thought it was really good!) My wife got an uninspired Chef's salad that was pretty typical. It was a generous portion, but used mostly iceberg lettuce and lots of red cabbage as the base, with some ham and hard boiled egg slices on top. Just okay. I went with a Big Sir Sandwich that comes with baked ham, salami, onion, cheese, tomato, lettuce and mayo. The bread was a sub sandwich roll that was soft and fresh. The sandwich had really great flavors, though they did put on way too much mayo that was oozing out the sides making it hard to pick up without getting it on my hands. Very filling even if it doesn't come with a side. Overall, our guests enjoyed the reminiscing of their days in school while eating the pizza. I enjoyed the novelty of the process which requires the wait staff to do a lot less before ordering. When you've finished eating, they just drop off your bill and you pay at the counter. My boyfriend talks about this Funcie staple all of the time. I finally got to try it, and it was super tasty. It's not fancy, the menus make me think of The Max from Saved By The Bell, and my germaphobia made me wonder how often they cleaned the phones, but the food was just awesome. If you want a simple, no frills pizza, Pizza King Muncie is for you. the breadsticks, both fully cooked and half cooked were so amazing that I felt as if I were in a pizza dream. Typically love Pizza King. And usually their service is great here. However, this is the 2nd week in a row that I have been disappointed here. Last week I called in an order and was told that our order would be ready in 20 minutes. I got there 30 minutes after I called and had to wait another 15 minutes to get my food. This week was told 15 minutes for our carry out order. I arrive 20 minutes after I made the order and waited for another 20 minutes. I understand getting busy and hectic, but to give an estimated ready time and it takes more than double that time is very disappointing. read more

I hate that my rating has gone down for this store. Pizza King is iconic for Muncie and Indiana. This store was probably one of their first and is in my memory banks from growing up. However, management seems to be pretty old school. I love longstanding servers Daphne and Sara. That said, we live 5 minutes away and one night we called for delivery. It took over an hour and the pizza was burned. We called a pickup in tonight, they told us 30 minutes. When we arrived to pick up, they couldn't find the order at first. Really? Five stars for hillbilly pizza (as it is affectionately called by locals)?? Yes, anyone who grew up in Funcie must give it such. The pizza here is thin crust, the toppings are finely chopped (even the sausage is like hamburger), and the sauce is slightly acidic. But still, we fight over the "corner pieces" (yes, only people in Muncie could argue that there are corner pieces on a round pizza). Yes, we also fight over the pieces with the bubbles that form in the crust, too. The pizza kings all have retro, strained glass light fixtures and wood panelling giving the place a 70's vibe. Plus, they have pac man and galaga. A Muncie classic. read more

They are great at Pizza, hence the term Pizza King, but some of their side items are not so great. For example, if you like baked spaghetti, like my son and I do, then pizza king is not the place to order it from. It's so overloaded with mushrooms, that it makes the flavor not so appealing. We experience this recently through ordering a baked spaghetti. And while the pizza is great, like other reviews have noted, their Pizza is on the high end for price. I compare it with purchasing Brick Oven pizzas, when of course these pizzas are not Brick Oven. But the flavor and quality of the pizzas are great, but just be careful when ordering any of the side items. read more

Pizza King is a staple in Muncie when it comes to choosing good pizza. I have relatives that used to live here that have to stop at Pizza King whenever they are in town. This specific location is a good indicator of the others in Delaware County as the majority of them are very similar. They feature the same laminated menus and phones at the table you use to place your order. The pizza is cut into small squares and comes in a 12, 14, or 16 inch variety. There are numerous different pizzas to choose from. The most often ordered is likely the Royal Feast; i'm partial to just the sausage and pepperoni pizza. The ingredients are chopped up into fine pieces and you can order them half and half with whatever you like. Their breadsticks are also delicious, however, I also order them half baked so that they are a little more doughy. This location features a large party room, a digital jukebox, and an old Galaga/Ms. Pacman machine. I've always had good service at this location. The wait staff has always been friendly and check up on you often. One note on the price: Pizza King likely has the most expensive pizza you will find in the area, but to me and my family, it is worth it. read more

We ordered for delivery to our hotel which was literally down the street only to wait 1 1/2 hours and after several calls met by rudeness and no info ,the guy actually said he wasn't allowed to give out an estimated time and they had no paper plates & to go silverware. After we sat inthe lobby for ONE AND A HALF hours Finally a cold ,UNCUT(which made NO sense since they had plenty of time) overpriced Totino's like sad shitty tasting excuse for pizza delivered by a smarmy kid w/ no apology shows up( he must have waited until someone else from the same hotel ordered).If we weren't already exhausted and not famished we would have sent it back and ordered from another place . To be fair, a lot of locals apparently like this place, but I only went once, several months ago, and haven't been back. The chopped up pepperoni was weird and unappetizing, and the pizza just didn't have much taste. The service was okay, though, so I can't fault them there. read more

We were the only people in the restaraunt. It took over an hour for them to bring us our pizza. When it finally got to us it was cold. The service here is horrible. The food was good, except for being cold. The breadsticks came out quickly and were nice and hot. The pizza like I stated was cold. This complaint is about the service though. Service was so bad, we didn't leave a tip, and we almost left without paying. If werent for our moral compasses these people wouldn't have gotten a dime from us. read more

We have ordered multiple times from the Hospital and the last 2 times the original subs have been dry. They barely put any sauce on them and its just meat and cheese. We also ordered a 8" royal feast with extra cheese paid the extra $2 something but didn't get the extra cheese. We won't be ordering again from this pizza king. This place is too expensive to have sloppy food. read more

Best pizza in town if you like thin crust! Dill butter is an excellent side to pair with the breadsticks, whether you like them half baked or not... delicious!! Their barbeque sauce is a wonderful alternative to the original sauce. read more
