My girls & I popped into Steak 'n Shake in Midland, TX on January 4, 2026. Me: "Are you guys offering the Patriot Shake?" Host Kendra: "Yeah... What kind do you want?" Me thinking she was talking about the ice cream flavor which is normal. "One chocolate, one vanilla." Received receipt. The Patriot Shake (a January 2026 promo commemorating America's 250th independence anniversary for $2.50) is not on there, but instead regular charges for the shakes were. I already paid. No screen to see my charges was available so I assumed everything was peachy. I soon confronted Kendra about it and told her I thought they offered the Patriot. "Oh, no sorry." I thought, then wtf did you reply yes when I asked? Then she told me "no refunds." Lol. This place is dingy and the service is just okay. The Sprite from the self-serve fountains tasted like watered down sparkling water. So gross! Best thing was the beef tallow fries, although they were a tad overcooked. Easy to do when they are shoestring-style. https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/food/2026/01/02/steak-n-shake-patriot-milkshake-semiquincentennial/87993607007/# read more

We never got to try it. It says it's open 24 hours but we flew in and went there around midnight and lots of lights were on, but nobody was there. read more

I've been here a couple of times now(Drive through). Polite friendly staff. Clean presentable food. Great tasting burger. Bread and meat seem fresh. Fries and drinks are good too. Overall, I'd rather go here than McDonalds. Better service, better quality food, same price range. read more

Went yesterday (7-13-42) with the wife At first, all seemed fair. Ordered. Sat. Service was timely. 1 star. Fountain machine needed recalibration. (Coke, sprite, and pepsi came out of the funnel as a white stream, tasted like seltzer water) -1 star. Ordered bacon on my burger. Very uncooked (white uncooked fat with slivers of medium cooked meat- ended up removing it from my burger for safety purposes) -1 star. The flies ruined the ambiance. -1star Conclusion: Never Again read more

They are never open. The website says they are but they are not. It's frustrating. I wanted to try them.

The cheese fries weren't really that good. Cheese Wiz over fries. Good portion however. Was just an ordinary burger. Used the drive through and that was quick and efficient. read more

No idea about the food. Truck parking around back so I drove my granddaughter all the way from AZ and wanted to take her to a Steak N Shake since she hears her daddy and me talking about it all the time... but there's only drive through after 11p. ‍ read more

I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad I had no issues with this establishment not 1 . My food was very hot and fresh service was good my burger and fries was beyond great I should have got another burger that's how good it was . If I'm ever in this area again will definitely stop by and get some great food again . read more

Great shakes and burgers. The floor is sticky and it appears the staff is over worked. Could use a bit of TLC cleaning that would go along way. read more

First time here. Ordered a #3 and got a patty and bun and that's it. Weak. No dressing, no onions , no pickles. Lame ass burger. The cook must be mentally challenged. read more

They will not be open instead of 24 hours like it says thely lied 11:30 they closed. They were very rud and almost nasty

I will never eat here again! Paid 13$ for a meal, the bacon lover. The burger was tiny for the price. I got the chili cheese fries I case the burger wasn't enough. Didn't know there was beans in the chili. Overall not worth the money. I also don't recommend the grocery store attached to it. Everything is wildly over priced. read more

Craving a real steak burger so I stopped in at Steak n Shake since you can't find another steak burger joint in Odessa nor Midland and I must say this transaction went fairly well. I went through the drive thru and was immediately greeted. With about 3 cars ahead of me I thought this is going to take a while however it only took half the time to my surprise. The order was made precise and accurate. The steak burger tasted fresh and very succulent, paired well with their xtra thin fries. The shakes here are usually one the best around, I normally bash this place due to my previous experience and it not being like the sit down and order Steak n Shake found nationwide, however getting some taste of it in the Permian Basin and quality of service from this visit is changing my perception of this place. Way to go Steak n Shake! read more

No one wearing masks. Poor quality burger. Cold cheese, soggy lettuce, tomato? Maybe! Over cooked cold smashed buns. Yuk... Best thing was the fries. Place has really gone downhill since oil boom went bust. Go elsewhere like McDonald's across street whole lot better food. read more

Horrible service and everything is incredibly dirty. They were out of several drinks and the "manager" seemed more interested in getting this guys number then taking care of problems. I was so excited to see a Steak n Shake after years of living in El Paso but this was such a disappointment. read more

I run by and try to get food about once a year from here these days. I've never had really any service ever. I did eat some pretty good burgers shortly after they opened, but it's gone down hill fast since. They do have a drive through line but I guess it's just there for looks. If you get tired and pull up to the window, they typically walk around the corner and hide until you leave. This has happened about 5 times in a row now. This place is a good example of how not to run a fast food eating establishment. read more

(I wanted to rate this Steak & Shake 3.5/5 but Yelp doesn't let you do half stars on your own.) If you like Steak & Shake you'll be a bit disappointed to find out this one has a slimmed down menu but it still tastes just as good. If you've never had Steak & Shake, it's pretty much my favorite chain burger place. Quality ingredients, good size patties and the fries and chicken strips also taste great. Just know that this one is in a highway truck stop / general store so it is a bit messy in the eating area but if you get it to go you'll get all that Steak & Shake goodness without any issue. Service was good too, no complaints there. Would I drive across town for it? Not sure. If I'm on my way in would I get a burger? Most certainly. read more

Horrible down right terrible experience. Hour waiting times. Employees looking disgusting. No full refund after asking for one. Do not come here if you want to be treated correctly. This store should be shut down! read more

Fast, Fresh food! We came here wanting something quick. We all got burgers and fries and they were all correct and really fresh. We also all got shakes to go, and shakes from here never disappoint. I recommend the royal burger with fried egg and bacon, and also the Peanut butter cup shake. Mmm so good. read more

Flat out ignored me in the drive through line. Waited for 15 minutes at window and watched two employees avoid eye contact because they didn't want to take my order. I ran their drive through time up and left. Go get some shitty food somewhere else. I've had better service at the DMV read more

This is not a full Steak and Shake. Do expect the full menu. Now the good. Hamburgers were good and hot. Shakes tasted good, but there were some ice crystals in them. So if you want just a place to eat and no frills, this is OK. If you expect s restaurant pass on this. read more

5-3-22. So many food item returns because the orders were wrong - yes I had to get in line (that many) I just returned my order put in on the counter top and walked out you got me for over $9.00 - you can bet I will never recommend or return to this establishment ! read more

Super disappointed. Limited menu--burger, cheeseburger, or a hot dog. Served the smallest fries ever in a tiny styrofoam cup for $1.79. If you are a Steak 'n Shake fan, stay away. Fries are not seasoned. No booths. No kid meals. You get your drinks at the same fountain as the gas station patrons. Saaaddd! read more

Steak ’n Shake - Not even close to the real thing! - Burgers Near Me - Midland, Texas

Below average burgers with a below average customer service. Doubt I'll ever return and in a few days, I'll forget that it exists.

Their classic American burger was really good for fast food, however eating the fries was like eating excessively dry cardboard. Not worth the drive, but if I'm in the area and hungry, would eat here again. read more

the food isn't very good compared to other Steak n Shakes, which is hard to do as it is, but not only that, I came here at 8 am and nobody was here. it's supposed to be a 24 hour food place, not only is that wrong, they aren't even open at 8 am. the service here is absolutely horrible, the people here act like you're somewhere you shouldn't be. all around terrible experience, would never recommend this place despite it being the only one in the area sadly, would much rather go to McDonalds than this specific Steak n Shake. The drink machines are absolutely disgusting as if they've never cleaned them before, they apparently haven't been open since whenever they closed the night before and the ground was sticky all in front of the register and the drink machine, the trash bags were all full and soul smelling etc. I could genuinely go on all afternoon about how absolutely terrible this place was when I went, truly disappointing especially given how much I usually would love going to a Steak N Shake. read more

These hamburgers are just OK, knobs of greasy. Canned cheese on the chili cheese fries, all soggy. Ketchup dispenser empty, let 3 employees know, all ignored me. Got to go packs. Flies everywhere. Shakes were prepoured, pulled out of freezer and were icy. Too many other good places to eat at. read more

I went to the restaurant. They were friendly but the food wasn't that .good. They didn't give me everything I ordered. Wow.!!! I've been wanting to eat at a Steak 'n Shake for a few years now, today was my lucky day.!!! My double cheeseburger was perfect, and the garlic fries were also, as well as the strawberry shake.!!! I wish they had these in the Flying J's or Pilot truck stops.!!! Much better than most of the choices we have on the road.!!!! Plus the service, what a wonderfully cheerful service.!!! And the price was very fair.!!! I've had a wonderful and healthy meal.!!! read more

The burgers are good but they are tiny so if your normally can eat a large burger then one of those burgers ain't gonna fill you up. However their fries are tasty, and the shakes are yummy. The staff is nice and the tables and booths are clean. It's good for a quick bite to eat but definitely order a large if your extra hungry or can eat a burger bigger than a small. read more

Chili cheee fries where good my daughter like her kids cheeseburger everything was fresh I will be returning they are always super busy so that's probably why the service lacks but then again we live in midland and not every place is great.! But I give steak N shake a 7/10 read more

Soooo this Steak n shake finally opened in Midland. I must say I am a huge fan of this place thanks to my wonderful husband. So I was very excited to walk thru the doors. There was only one customer ahead of us the girl was friendly took our order and before she was done the order was ready fresh and hot and yes it tasted great .The manager even came around and greeted us . One problem for me is not enough seating. other than that Thanks Steak n shake for keeping the tradition goin my husband says this is our new Friday night hang out love it. read more

Worse example of Steak and Shake. Milk shake is partially stirred ice cream, not a milk shake, double cheeseburger with bacon, hahaha, made yesterday, terrible, fries are hard and brittle. Won't ever stop here again. If they have a manager, he or she should be run out of town read more

I've always been a huge steak and shake fan coming from Illinois. This location has a limited menu and is not a full-service steak and shake. Wait staff was friendly. I got my food relatively quick. I ordered the steak burger with cheese and a chili. Steakburger was as expected although somehow not as good as I remembered it from the past in the Midwest. Chili was not the same at all it was way too salty. read more

Ordered Signature Steak n Fries for $8.49 w/large fries n large drink. I was charged $9.79 plus .49 with .69 tax. Overall total came out to $11.97 which makes no sense to me reading from the menu. It says a drink is $1.99 but my receipt doesn't have that price anywhere. It should say $8.49 plus $1.99, plus however much it costs to upgrade to large. Nowhere on the menu does it have a price for a drink upgrade, just a price for upgraded fries, if you want specialty fries. Talked with Management and she was too busy to explain, just said "it's because you got a drink", then walked off. The burger patty was small and pressed. Fries were room temperature and soggy. read more

Steak 'n Shake just opened on 1788 so I had to try it. It was pretty good. Burgers are juicy and tasty. Fries are the thin, shoestring kind but not too thin. Add some ketchup and they are just fine. I have not tried breakfast yet but I am going to. Workers were friendly and I got my food through the drive-thru with just a little wait. The only thing I am disappointed in is that it only has a limited menu. A very limited menu, it is not a full service place like others. There are only 4 options for lunch, 3 different burgers and a hot dog, plus fries. It has the classic and specialty milkshakes and soda. There are 3 options for breakfast. So that is the only thing I am sad about because I was looking forward to trying more of the food. I did ask if they were eventually going to expand the menu but the worker said she did not think they were as they are not a classic steak 'n shake (her words). read more
