Some of the best Indian ever in Midland, TX?! Yes, it's true. I had Palak Paneer aka Saag Paneer. I ordered online and it didn't allow me to select a spice level but was my exact preference which is a 4 on a scale of 1-5 - so it had a wonderful kick. There were chiles and aromatics and lots of onions swimming in the spinachy goodness, and big, fat chunks of paneer- they did not skimp. My date had the lentils- can't remember which one but it was insanely delicious too- also had a nice kick. Each entree came with a giant pile of rice. And the butter naan was so yummy too. The portions are enormous, and the price is cheap. We're in town visiting and will certainly come back next time. Since we DoorDashed- I have no idea if the restaurant is nice or the service is friendly- doesn't matter, the food is excellent and cheap- which is enough for me! 10/10 read more

In west Texas, there is a distinct lack of variety in cuisine. Burgers, Pizza, Southern, Mexican, Tex-Mex, Cuban, Americanized Chinese & Americanized Italian. That is a fairly exhaustive list. Therefore, it is with considerable joy and no small amount of relief, that I can report that Pista Express is a superb choice for anyone wishing to break from the usual fare of the area. The food is excellent, and the service is professional; succinct yet welcoming. If authenticity is your concern, dither not, for Pista Express was recommended to me by a Gujarati co-worker of mine. As for recommendations, I have had the Butter Chicken & Tikka Masala (both lamb & chicken). Each accompanied by Garlic Naan & Mango Lassi. Everything was delicious. My co-worker recommended the Chana Masala, and while I did not heed his advice (due to personal dislike of chickpeas), I nevertheless find it a worthwhile recommendation. Tips: 1 Always get the Garlic Naan & Mango Lassi (yogurt drink). They complement any entree you may decide on. 2 Know that when they ask how hot you want your food, the scale is Indian not American. This means that mild will still have some heat while moderate will be legitimately spicy (by American standards). Pista Express is not ideally located, being in a Baymont hotel located near the airport about halfway between Odessa & Midland. Fortunately, they are on UberEats, albeit at a premium. In conclusion, if you like Indian cuisine or wish to broaden your horizons & don't mind a short drive or using UberEats, I highly recommend Pista Express. You will not be disappointed. read more

I finally tried Pista Express after waiting awhile to take the plunge. The location is less than ideal, but I was able to order take out, which arrived in a timely manner with a completely correct order. I had the chicken tikka masala. It was surprisingly spicy--either I've only had white people chicken tikka masala or these folks like the extra punch. Either way, the flavor was there, and I enjoyed it. The rice seemed fresh and fluffy. I had samosas too--they were delicious, crispy, savory, and the sauce that came with it was a refreshing counterpart to the heaviness of the samosa. I got egg rolls for the kids; they were ok. I wasn't expecting it to be amazing considering it's a Indian restaurant, not Chinese. My favorite thing was the garlic naan. It was incredible. There was tons of flavor, and it was great for dipping into sauces. Overall, I highly recommend this place for take out. Not salty, definitely garlicky. I had four pieces, good thickness Shrimp 65? : this was my favorite! I was nervous but SO happy I ordered. Salty( in a good way) flavorful, spicy yet fresh. Can taste hints of the yogurt and the cilantro give it a clean feel. Good size. Chicken tikka masala: good, nothing out of this world but good. Needed maybe a smidge more salt? Overall very pleased. WOW, I am from Denver and have eaten at many different Indian restaurants and I am not lying when I say that this is some of the most authentic and best tasting Indian food I have ever had. The service is excellent and friendly, lots of great items to choose from, I had the Mango Lassi drink which was delicious, then for my appetizer I had the Spinach and Onion Pakoda (the seasoning and flavor is amazing) and then for my entree I had the Malai Kofta (this is a fried potatoes dish in a creamy curry sauce) you can taste the flavors of the the coconut , curry and turmeric and the food makes it feel like as if you were in India .
