I can't review the food because all I did was spend a half hour standing with a bunch of others at the front waiting to be seated! It was funny how, despite the other families coming in, waiting with us, empty tables, adequate staff, they found ways of avoiding eye contact with any of us despite our evident growing frustration. Even those who were done with their meals and wanted to pay and leave just kept lining up at the register without being helped. So what did we do? Left and went to Five Guys across the street- better service and better burgers. Never again going to Steak and Shake. read more

Really good experience mostly thanks to my server Alecia the place was clearly understaffed during lunch hour but she handled it like a pro. I almost left at first seeing how busy it was but she made sure I was taken care of. Thanks Alecia! read more

This establishment is awful! We came in to order shakes and they wouldn't accommodate us. The staff said they wouldn't make 55 shakes for us even though we said we can wait two hours for them. read more

If I can give this place a negative star I would. Worst customer service we've received by far in Dayton, Ohio. Our high school has given this location our business in the last 10 years but they blew it this year. They refused to take 73 orders! What business would refuse 73 orders? Worst customer service ever. Beware: do not go to this establishment. We took our business at Graeter's Ice Cream. Better quality ice cream/shakes and customer service by far than the horrible Steak N' Shake. DO NOT GO TO STEAK N' SHAKE! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! read more

Can believe how bad service now at this restaurant and why other Steaks N Shakes now closed in the surrounding areas to Cincinnati. Try to go yesterday late afternoon and give them plenty of time (2 hours) to prepare 80 shakes. And ask we can give time to them to prepare increments. Restaurant manager refused to prepare because it was too many to make. So we took our business to another ice cream shop down the street. One thing we are from out of State visiting from California and to give 60 Drumline band members to try the restaurant. Will not return back when we return next April. read more

I've been in the drive thru for over half an hour. Still haven't even ordered yet. Apparently this is normal according to other reviews. Won't be back. read more

Extremely bad customer service, refused our travel groups business and did not even try to accommodate us.

I mean it is a Steak 'n Shake...go in there expecting typical diner food with a smile and you won't be disappointed. This is not the place to come for a fat juicy burger or gourmet dessert. They serve burgers and shakes...hence the name. I like their burgers. They are pretty small in size but they taste pretty darn good. Fries are so-so...for my taste anyway. They are thin cut and don't have the crunch that I personally like. Their shakes are amazing! Prices are mediocre. It isn't going to break the bank but not as cheap as McDonald's unless you have a coupon. They run specials/coupons frequently. Check the paper. Service was awesome! This location has never disappointed when it has come to service. Everyone is always friendly and they are pretty quick. Although they do have a drive through they are not fast food like McDonalds or Taco Bell. You will wait so keep that in mind. Not the place to come if you need your food yesterday and definitely do not sit in the drive through if you need to use "facilities". We will be back and we will be back to this one. Check it out! read more

Just another fast food chain... Except this one ain't fast. I get they are making milkshakes but still.... Nothing in the menu should leave you waiting in line THAT long. Okay so the food is truly subpar... The shoestring fries are flavorless bland sticks. Burger King does a better job and I hate them with a passion. to thick to drink through the small straw... Isn't milkshakes suppose to be their specialty? The quality of the ice-cream should be higher in my opinion, especially if this is their signature. The burger is alright... Nothing mind blowing, surprisingly juicy without the grease puddle. I enjoyed it but again there was nothing about it that makes me want to convert or return. :( I had been looking forward to this meal after all the up talk I had heard from others. They even use Roger Ebert quotes to drive home the fact that they are so superior when in actuality they are only causing people to practice their eye rolling. Nothing was awful but it doesn't live up to the hype. If you got time to wait in line forever they are worth At least one visit. read more

Been awhile since I had been here but wow the service was great best ever. The bllack lady alexus was the best. She was quick, polite, and kept all the staff going and on track. Great job read more

Friendly server. Quick service - hot food under 15 minutes. We even got a half off coupon for milkshakes. Usual great burgers and fries!

Dont come here if you want a pleasant and timely, meal. It took them 30 minutes to make one milkshake. They are understaffed and have no system of operation. read more

I am sitting in the drive-through for what seems like eternity. It has literally been 30 minutes. The whole purpose of fast food is to get your food fast. I have to leave for the airport, and may have to jump at a line in ditch my order. What's up with this?! Get your crap together, fast food should be fast! read more

I love Steak n Shake, however, this particular store makes their employees work even though they are sick with CoVid. Doctor's note makes no difference to them. If you don't work, you're fired. Be aware! read more

I know that this chain isn't known for their service, but come on! I stopped in here with my wife and kids to get something to eat before we went to an event at the Nutter Center. First of all we waited about 20 min to be sat which is not a problem as they were somewhat busy. Then once we were taken to our table (never swept underneath and still a little sticky in spots) no one ever greeted us. We sat for a legitimate 15 min as I watched numerous servers talking to each other at the server station and no one ever came to our table. I finally asked the host if anyone was waiting on us and he said he would find our server. Another 3 or 4 minutes went by and at that point I was upset, my kids were hungry, and we were running short on time. We decided to leave and as we were getting up our server came to the table and asked if she could start us off with something to drink. When I told her that we had waited for over 15 min to be greeted and that we were now leaving she simply replied with "ok". Not an "I'm sorry" or "Let me get a manager" just a smug "ok". Needless to say we went across the street and through the drive-thru at McDonalds and received decent service and our order was correct. read more

are you f'ing kidding me? If I hadn't paid I would have walked out. I've never seen a slower, more non-caring bunch of "workers" in my life. You couldn't pay me to go back into this shitshow. It took 45 mins to get a to-go order. while I waited I should have been put on the payroll. Everyone kept asking me if I had a table, if I had ordered, if I was in line to pay. It was chaos, I told everyone good luck figuring it out. I finally got 2 cheeseburgers & 2 fries. Both cold. WTF? I'll never go back read more

I'm a fan because the food is so cheap and also very good (for the fast food dining-in restaurant). Granted, the menu doesn't offer the healthiest choices, but who cares. I've always liked the waitresses here and hate that I've seen people tip them with change and coins. Patrons, think about what you're doing, please. Had the all-beef frank with melted Wisconsin cheese and onions smothored all over it. It was seriously the best hot dog I've had for awhile. At least in living memory. Their cheese fries are also delightfully delicious. read more

This place is a repulsive petri dish of growing campylobacter between the disgusting employees and the building. Waiting for 30mins for a table and then 45 for the food. After finally eating this places makes me feel like I need to visit a hospital after my visit do to the food and smell. I'd rather eat the dumpster behind a free clinic before anything here ever again. **WARNING DO NOT EAT HERE!!** (-10 stars.) read more

took forever for the food to come our; milkshakes ended up being sour and burgers were not cooked all the way through. my nana, sister, and grandpa got food poisoning and have been throwing up all morning. worst steak 'n shake ever. read more

This place has gone down hill 1000%. Way to noisy, food delivery was slow. When we got our food, you could tell that the milkshake machine was not cleaned between orders. A M&M shake had bits of cocoanut in it and the burgers were just thrown on the plate. Sent the shake back and this time the M&M shake tasted like banana. The floors were dirty and I have seen cleaner bathrooms in Iraq. We will never eat at this location ever again. We would have gotten better burgers at McDonalds. read more

I've lived around here for awhile and this steak n shake used to be ROUGH I won't lie. But I feel like it's clear they are under new management now. They have order in Kiosk which takes away from the issues people may have had with bad service. The workers they do have there bussing tables, calling numbers, cooking- are all very friendly and hard working. The food was tasty and even presented nicely! Honestly an overall step up from what this used to be. They deserve more than an overall 2 star rating. read more

Waited to be seated. We were ignored as if we were invisible. Not even a simple greeting or "we'll be right with you." We just left after about 10 minutes. There are so many other restaurants in the area, don't waste your time here. read more

This is the dirtiest restaurant I've ever been in. The waitress was dirty. We could smell the bathroom from our booth. The floor was filthy. My fork had something hanging off of it that I cannot identify. The waitress and the manager never acknowledged the dirty fork on the table. This place is disgusting! The "clean" table next to us had open jelly packets stuck to the booth. I will never eat there again. read more

Steak ’n Shake - My fork at the Beavercreek Steak and Shake - Burgers Near Me - Fairborn, Ohio

See all

I hope the food isn't usually this bad and to be honest, it usually isn't. My son and I ate here about a week or so ago (I believe it was Nov. 14 or 15). I ordered a single hamburger with lettuce and tomato only. I also ordered a salad with no dressing (I had brought my own because most restaurants don't have the kind I like anymore). Oh I also ordered fries. The meal was mediocre at best. The fries seemed overcooked. My salad consisted of a bowl of shredded lettuce and nothing else. I did ask if I could get some tomatoes and received some diced ones in a bowl. The hamburger was so-so. I've had better but it wasn't anything to brag about. All I can say is, it's a good thing my son was buying because I probably wouldn't have paid for it and/or finished it if the tab had been on me. To be fair though, I've never really been a big fan of Steak 'n Shake. read more

Every time I come to this steak and shake I am more and more disappointed. Every time I have gone I've either dealt with rude employees or terrible food. This last time I ordered a western bbq burger and for one it wasn't even made correctly and the steak burger was horribly dry. There was NO bbq sauce on it at all and it's supposed to be a bbq burger so I was highly unsatisfied, the bun was stale, and the employee taking my order was extremely rude. I work in a restaurant myself and I understand how it can be sometimes but when something is wrong every single time I get food from here it's just unacceptable. read more

Waited in the drive thru for 30, 6 cars at lunch time ridiculous, go somewhere else if your hungry

I love Steak 'n Shake, but they can't manage the drive through and ignore those inside. We waited almost 15 minutes before they noticed us standing and waiting at the register for a Togo order. Others were waiting to pay and were also ignored. There is trash on the floors both behind the counter and in the dining room. This store is a hot mess read more

By far the worst Steak 'n Shake I've been too. Waited 20 minutes and watched people come in after us and get food before we even got water. Then the waitress came out and just said she didn't see us. After that our order was messed up and put on two different receipts. read more

Sat in the drive through for 10 min after she said "take a look at the menu and I'll be right with you." Now I'm waiting for another 45 min in line for them to get the food. Went here Monday night with a friend to get a shake and catch up, this place was nasty, the floor was gross and as you walked your shoes stuck to it, ordered shakes when they came was told they would being us a spoon as they ran out & were being washed as their shakes are thick you really need a spoon, kept waiting & waiting then asked again for spoons was told they didn't have any clean so we asked for a plastic one was told they didn't have any so they bought us forks. Ever tried eating a thick shake with a fork? By this time shake had melted so we were finally able to use straw. Definitely see why this chain is closing some of its restaurants. Needs a thorough cleaning and better managers! Wish I could post this with no stars but it's not letting me! read more

Tried to eat here at 9:20 pm tonight - Sat evening. They are supposed to be open 24 hours. We were told in the parking lot that they were closed. Decided to call and double check as well as ask when they would reopen. A female answered the phone and said we are closed and hung up before I could ask when they reopen. I called back to try to ask again or listen to a recording (which most places have) and a male answered, yelled "we are closed" and hung up on me as well. This is extremely unprofessional. If you don't want to talk to customers, don't answer the phone at all. I have no plans to return at this point. I would suggest that everyone avoid this place based on their lack of customer service. read more

We were here for 45 minutes waiting for a seat and then waiting another to finally get our table wiped off and then get our order. They seated other people before us and we asked them 5 times to wipe if the tables and then got an attitude when we asked them to. AWFUL customer service. read more

Steak ’n Shake - Empty for 30 minutes... - Burgers Near Me - Fairborn, Ohio

We have eaten her in the past and had a great experience. So much so we got a gift certificate. However, yesterday the experience was terrible. In the past the food ,service staff and cleanliness have been fine. WHile the food was still good; the floor was dirty, the service so slow I had to ask the manager to send over a waitress. The check out person over-charged us and did not accept our coupon. I wonder if this is a new manager and crew as we did not recognize and staff. Avoid this location for now! read more

The Frisco melts are amazing and it's a fun place to sit down and have cheap casual food with friends. I love coming here.

We love steak and shake, which is probably the reason we keep coming back. But jeez, the things we have to put up with at this store. One hour waits for food on sat and sun nights, 15-20 min waits to be seated "because we only have one server" we once came in to wait, then they closed the store because there wasn't enough people working. I don't know why we keep coming back. They really need to hire more people or something. read more
