I was only able to give this place three stars due to the cleanliness of the place, the food shakes and service was excellent five stars. However the bathrooms for the men's was both stopped up with and it was only 11:30 in the morning and of course one of the employees came out of the bathroom and I sure he saw that both of them was stopped up, everything in the place felt sticky from the counters to the floor. I think they probably need to start doing some retraining with the management team to get this place back up and running correctly. read more

This is the first time we've been to a Steak 'n Shake since they've implemented a kiosk system. We didn't like it at all. Frankly, it's much easier for us to order when we can see the whole menu in front of us. Instead we had to clumsily navigate the menu in the kiosk. As for the food, it was just fair. The burger patty was paper thin. My wife's milkshake had far too much h whipped cream filling the cup. Overall not as good as it used to be. read more

Sign says new management (and veteran owned and operated :) ) since we're new to the area didn't know if this was a good thing or not but was happy to try it oh, how I've missed those tiny fries and cheese! Not busy when we arrived, self order at a kiosk and pick up your order when number was called (first time we've seen this at a place other than McD's) maybe this is a new norm or adaptation of the times we are in but didn't bother us either way. Tables were being wiped down but the seats were overlooked (crumbs) and the dividers were all greasy and could have just used a good scrub down. Coming from ex-staff: Avoid this restaurant at all costs. The management is so garbage that most of the employees have either quit or been fired in the last month. They're so understaffed that you wind up waiting an hour for a burger on a slow day. There just aren't enough people to keep the place clean, so people would constantly complain to me about dirty tables. I don't see this issue getting fixed unless the entire management team gets replaced. Not to mention at least two other ex-employees having threatened gun violence at other staff members. And the food isn't even that good. McDonald's has better fries, Five Guys has better burgers, Skyline has better chili, and Burger King has better staff. Waited over 25 minutes with no consistency in order completion across the huge backlog of customers who came before or after us regardless of order size. Manager was apologetic but made no noticeable difference in pacing. Orders came out in pieces with huge time gaps. Employees goofing off and ignoring the increasing waiting customers, taking time to bicker and ignore orders. Highly disappointing experience at what was once my favorite restaurant. Will probably never be back. Edit (after finally receiving full prepaid order): after waiting 40 minutes for the full completion of my order, the bag holding our food was greasy and gritty plus the milkshake came out in a cup so crusted with residue we had to get a second cup to cover the first cup because we couldn't trust that asking for a remake would be any better. I don't see why this place is always getting bad rep, the last couple times I've gone in here service has been phenomenal, sure, staff can be at each others throats from time to time, but food has always been delicious. This location is horrible. I have gone back a few times over the years in hopes that it has gotten better only to be let down again....and again. Drive thru wait times are rediculous. I know they say it isn't "fast food" but having to wait over an hour in line is unacceptable. Haven't been to one in quite a few years. Always sat and ordered but they now have a kiosk to order. They came and helped us order and were very pleasant. I do not like the kiosk ordering format, but decided to try it anyway. This location is very dirty, the floor in the restaurant area are so slippery it is unsafe. Restroom was out of toilet paper and only one dispenser of soap. One of our burgers had bacon and it was undercooked, fries were also a little undercooked. Shakes were good but the strawberry shake wasn't mixed enough Our order was accurate. Will not be back to this location. read more

PEOPLE ON A BUDGET LISTEN UP!! My husband and I visited here because we wanted to eat a quick bite inside a restaurant without paying an arm and a leg or going to a typical fast food restaurant. As a kid who occasionally got to splurge and go to steak and shake I had already been acquainted with the restaurant but my husband had never been to one. He was very impressed by the end of our experience. Our waitress was wonderful, although I felt bad at how busy she was you would never have known unless you paid attention. She was very polite and patient. I had ordered a custom sandwich and she made sure every part of my order was right. The food was fresh, it was made fast, and you could tell that it was made to order. It was delicious and a good alternative to the typical fast food you'd get from McDonald's or Burger King. Our orders were made correctly and that is highly appreciated. We also really enjoyed the diner feel of the inside of the restaurant, it was very comfortable and fun. We both ordered big meals and a large shake to share and our bill was under $19 which is very impressive. We left satisfied without emptying the bank at an expensive restaurant. read more

This "Steak and Shake" has really went downhill from when I was a small sized child. The food was filling and tasted so wonderful I would think about the next visited to this establishment. But, flash forward a couple years, I am now a decent sized mammal and took a visit to the restaurant for an early dine for my mothers birthday this weekend. Behold the greasy floors and handles of the entrance is a handful of electronic kiosks put to replace the formality of actual waiters(I am assuming this was a idea to cut down on how many people were getting paid). Whilst my party was ordering on the glitchy kiosks I noticed that in this empty "restaurant" I had a clear view into the main cooking area where all the "food" was made. But, with what this "diner's" mood was already I decided what was best for me and looked away thinking to myself, ignorance is bliss. My parties total of this trip was a WASTED $45. We sat and waited in the sunlit greasy seats and floors of this "humane" establishment. The first, what a goon would call a milkshake came out and announced on the buzzy pa. My very own "Kit Kat" milkshake, I had high hopes that were soon crushed by 15 seconds of a galactic vacuum made by my mouth to get the miserable shake into my thirsting mouth. This tasted nothing like what I once drank with joy, but like a un blended vanilla "shake" that was sprinkled with graded "Kit Kat"(They probably cut costs by buying some off brand kind from what I could could tell). Next was my brothers "Hi-C drink," from what he told me it tasted like 10% cough syrup, he even made a joke telling us that he hoped it'd make him feel better(probably feel better from the thought that this measly meal was a good $45). Then, after a good 10 minutes of waiting our food was called for us to pick up ourselves. Once the food was at the greasy table I a took a quick glance at all of our "food" and thought this place is really going downhill. First, and worst of all was my mothers "Garlic"(Grease Burger). The amount of goo/grease that was on this burger was atrocious, it was so bad my mom ate it without the top. Second, was the entire batch of fries we ordered, in the photos from earlier years you'd think they'd be fine. But no, they were pale white and undercooked and not crispy enough to be called crispy and not soggy enough to be called soggy. These fries definitely contributed to the rating(Not to mention my mother's "burger"). Then after we were all done choking down this, what a pig would say "meal" we all were very unsatisfied and it all felt like a small appetizer not appealing to our hunger at all. When we put the trays back they felt so greasy from all the unwashed hand of the employees that I made a haste to the bathrooms to wash my hands, I was first met with a greasy handle bar again just adding more disgust to this trip, then when I opened the greasy door a waft of chemical tainted "air" came across my poor nostrils. I quickly washed my hands and got out of there. To any innocent family going there, McDonald's is very close. It was good before but they couldn't keep up the act. Thumbs down. Never going back. Get it bulldozed by Wednesday and I'll think about if that was a good $45 dollars spent. read more

TERRIBLE Today I pulled into Steak 'n Shake drive-through on Center Drive and was told that I would have to come in to order. I thought OK I'll do that. I was really looking forward to one of their milkshakes. The drive-through window tells me there's a $4.99 special on a double steakburger and small fry! Inside it turned out to be $5.29. I started to pull into a parking spot, but it was curbside takeout orders. I found another spot and went inside. I saw two kiosks in front of me and they both said card only I asked the man at the counter who had his back to me while supervising the cooks how to order if I have cash and he says "There's a kiosk behind you." So I went to that kiosk and started to order my food. I worked my way through the prompts but they were a little confusing and I find out that my meal was eight dollars and something. The drink didn't offer me a size or what kind of drink I was getting, but I figured I would figure that out. Another lady needed help ordering her order so I gave her my best efforts and we sat down to wait for our food. I thought I heard someone say something similar to my name, but it wasn't my name and I didn't see a bag at that time, meanwhile I got that man's attention who still had his back to the customers to help another customer and then I realize oh there's my order sitting on the counter so I asked the man how I should get my drink, and he tells me to just scan the QR code at the counter. I don't readily see what he's talking about so I say, " where?" and then he shows me. I only saw one cup size and I put ice in the cup and then went to pour out some Coke-the pop overflows and I have to turn it off to keep it from pouring out more. I go to get some more pop in the cup, but it has shut off, I said goodbye to my new consumer friend and travelled home. When I arrived home my food was cooked correctly, but was now lukewarm. This restaurant Definitely needed better management today and if this is the future for consumers, I'm going to stay home. There was no ambiance. read more

Out of all the Steak and Shakes I've been to this one is one of the better ones that I've been to. Being a chain restaurant, sometimes some places just lack the customer service or cleanliness that you'd expect and this place hits all those notes which makes you feel better about stuffing your face with a heart attack on a plate and 4,000 calories in a glass. I love that they have a seasonal rotation of milkshakes here and that they also let adults order the kid's sized shakes if you know that drinking an adult sized one would only lead to a mumu in your future. I had the chance to try the Royale burger the other day after having many people preach to me the delight of a fried egg on a burger and let me tell you...eat it...eat it now. But of course this isn't your gourmet burger place so don't go in there expecting a life changing experience. :) Its especially good if you're drunk, hung over, or have PMS :) read more

Sat in line for an hour, though they weren't busy and those in front of us weren't getting large orders. Then, when they gave us our order - the burgers were wrong, the shakes were half full with no cherries. They fixed the burgers in terms of what we actually wanted on them. However, the buns were ice cold - the burgers themselves made my throat itch, and left a terrible after taste. Worst restaurant experience I have had in awhile, and definitely the worst I've had at ANY Steak N Shake. They need to raise their standards, and fire some employees - as the ones working today didn't seem to know what they were doing at all. Looked panicked and lost. What happened to Steak n' Shake? I was so excited to be going out to eat and always loved getting a good fried hamburger, fries with baked beans. I was so disappointed to find out they really don't have a menu of items at all. So sandwiches other than chicken or hamburger. Sides are pretty much gone. Choices are french fries and chili. You place your order at a Kiosk and the kiosk was out of paper so did not get a receipt. I was soooo disapointed in my cold hamburger which is sliced so thin that a slice of bacon would have been more meat. No wonder they don't have waitresses. The don't need them since on a Sunday, when I recollect they were always pretty busy had my husband and I and two other couples in the place. Won't be going back there again. read more

I know it's not the person delivering the food because the outside of the bag always looks great. On the first request, the order wasn't delivered after an hour and a half. (I'm 15 min away) It was incomplete so I called and management asked me to pick the rest of my order. And wait while it was being made. Obvi communication could use some work. Second request after a month. Order comes as the expected time but the quality was thumbs down. Bad lettuce. Soggy and squashed up hamburger bun. Like just bad placement once placing the order in the bag. Super easy fix. Y'all gave me two fries. Like to make up for the hamburger. I had two bites and I threw everything in the trash. Wow this place is awful. In the drive-through we were behind 5 cars in the line. When we finally got to the speaker, It was difficult to hear them. Simply asked For 2 grilled cheese sandwiches and a Milkshake. We then spent 10 minutes before we got to the window. Where it took a few minutes for someone to answer. So every time I come here it's later in the day 10~midnight, and the drive thru has a sign on it that says it's broken. So you have to go inside. Tonight I was super hungry after being out of town and driving back today, so I went here bc it says "open 24/7" and on the drive thru and front door it had a sign that said "we are closed" in messy handwriting, while I visibly saw 4 employees just talking and eating.
