The food was awful! Went for lunch during work (I have a lunch way earlier than lunch rush) and I got there when they barely had cars in the lot and the drive though was clear. Went through the drive through and the service was amazing. They treated me perfectly. The food however tasted old and gross. The burger was not good and the fries tasted like old oil. The milkshake I got tasted like straight syrup. With new management the food went bad fast. I'm not sure what's going on but for spending my time and money to be so disappointed is not okay. We have only ever eaten in at this location (pre-Covid). I will say drive through lines are long and it does take a while to get this fresh cooked food. My kiddos love the steak burgers and shakes. My son appreciates that it is one of the places that offers A-1 as a condiment. The service is warm and personable (if clearly overwhelmed as on kids eat free days it is packed!). This is by far the worst costumer service I have received anywhere. My husband and I pulled into the drive threw at 4:45pm last night and was in line for a hour!!! There was only 2 cars in front of us. How is that possible?! We was wondering the same thing. So when the car in front of us got to the window they kept sending the employee away to gather more things either steak and shake forgot in their order or that customer was ordering more food once he got to the window, we aren't sure which. Either way my husband called while we was in line and told Clint the active manager what was going on and how long we had waited he proceeded to call us liars and told us he wasn't doing anything for our wait and it had only been 20 min since we even placed our order. Few things about that. First off we shouldn't have been in line 20 min after we ordered regardless, secondly when I ask Clint to go back and look two orders ahead at the time since we had been in line that whole time and he said he didn't care that we had only place our order 20 min prior. when I asked why he didn't pull the customer up and take their remainder of food when it was done while they continued keeping the line move and Clint proceeded to tell us they don't do that there and he wasn't going to try and make up for our terrible experience. I wasn't looking for freebie. Our meal was only $11, it was the principal and the disrespectfulness Clint represented to us that is making me write this review. He wouldn't even apologize for any inconvenience or wait or anything. He just kept telling us that we are lying and he didn't care. By far the WORST place I have ever been too. Typically I go to SnS super late at night or after events like prom or whatever because they are open late and it's just fun to sit back at a diner and chill with friends, the longer the wait the more convos come up. HOWEVER, I do expect my food to be at least warm. Things to note at the Elizabethtown Steak 'n Shake (to both customer and employees): 1. You're going to wait, that's just the nature of the diner. If you are hungry and your expecting speedy food within the times 12-7, you need to find a different restaurant. 2. Employees/management, if you expect great reviews, a great staff, respectable customers, TAKE PRIDE AND CARE OF YOUR WORK PLACE. What is the problem with Steak n' Shake?? We visit Elizabethtown often to visit our daughter, and thought we'd stop in around 7pm for supper. This place looked like a protest mob had tramped through it. Every table was dirty, you literally stuck to the floor and everything was nasty (and it was dirt that had been there for a long time!), when one of the servers. Role loose from her conversation she looked like she wore about a third of the food she served that day. Most of these tables looked like they had been dirty for a long time. This is the second Steak n' Shake we've been in this summer and the both have been filthy with bad service. Buy a floor scrubber and USE IT! This place is filthy! Wipe down the dividers in the booths when you clean the tables (hopefully with a clean towel). Don't use the same towel on the window dividers, use microfiber towel with glass cleaner. That way you aren't killing trees. read more

I say this bc I am watching these two run this entire floor while two others are on break AND a manager is on break. One of the servers noticed that there was a couple that had been sitting for a long time not being helped. She ran over and took their order then stopped at the table that the manager was sitting at (with her husband and their bag from McDonald's) and said "this is really pissing me off. There is now way we can cover yellow and orange and our own sections" the manager said something else that I didn't hear and the girl went back to running like crazy while the manager went back to eating. I've been a restaurant manager before. You don't break when it's busy and you don't bring in outside food that others can see (such as McDonald's). No joke we waited for five minutes for her to continue our order. After everything we said she would tell us to hold on because we were going too fast. Once we were able to order, it was another ten minutes to get our food. Either she was brand new or she was doing everything by herself. And once we pulled away we realized shorted us some of our food but by that time we were done and refused to wait anymore. The food was ice cold too.
