As we rolled into Elizabethtown, KY this place caught our eye. After checking our hotel we set out looking for a place to grab some grub. Drake's came up in our search so we meandered on over. Best to put yourself on the wait list before going. The place was busy. We were escorted to our table (114) which is the screened indoor patio area. Looking over the menus a young man named Luke came by and apologized for us having to wait long (which we had not been waiting long). Said it was not his table but was willing to help out a fellow co-worker as she was slammed. We told him that we were going to keep him as our server. He's got a great personality and fun to have conversations with. He took our drink order and was allowed to take over our table service. The menu is quite diverse and has many many choices. We placed our food order. Fried bologna sandwich with sweet potato fries on wheat bread. (Ask for a side of caramel to dip, your sweet potato fries in) Tailgate burger, no ketchup no mustard and the Drake's fries. Alison was our food runner. Luke came back during our meal and we were able to chat in a non-rushed way. This is not a local one off place. There are several locations but it did not feel like a franchise chain. Definitely a place for you to stop at if there's one in the area along your travels. Taylor the manager stopped by to see how our experience was. We gave nothing but compliments and admiration. She was an older lady & anytime she set anything down she would quickly leave, & we weren't able to ask for other things. my table & I had to ask other servers for refills, more napkins, & Togo boxes because she was nowhere to be found! I ordered the mushroom & swiss burger, it was massive & im pretty sure double patty couldn't finish it even though I was hungry, I ordered a side of sweet potato fries & they were delicious, cant go wrong with that. We told the server we wanted to share with the table 2 orders of sushi rolls of steak & tuna, but weren't given small plates or soy sauce dishes. they chairs are a bit far from the table, so you would have to be sitting right at the edge without having your back supported comfortably. I was in Fort Knox for a few days and wanted a place to watch the NBA Championship. I came across this spot and decided to give it a try. My first visit was fantastic. The bartender, Jake, was phenomenal--friendly, attentive, and helped make it a great experience for my group and me. Because of that positive first impression, we decided to come back. Unfortunately, our second visit was a completely different experience. We were served by Lily at the bar, on Monday night, June 8, and from the moment we sat down, it felt like she did not want us there. She had an unfriendly attitude throughout our visit, and when we asked for our check, she slammed it down on the table. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was that our group, which consists entirely of minorities and Servicemembers, noticed that she appeared significantly more attentive and welcoming toward other customers who were Caucasian. While we cannot speak to her intentions, the difference in how we were treated compared to others around us was noticeable and left us feeling unwelcome. It was disappointing, especially after how much we enjoyed our first visit. One outstanding employee brought us back, but one negative interaction was enough to make us decide not to return. Stopped here for a late lunch with friends after a visit in the nearby area and then heading back to Louisville. Plenty of free parking and easily accessible. Restrooms were clean. Waitstaff were welcoming and helpful. I tried a turkey, Swiss, and avocado grill sandwich with a side of Cole slaw. Food was tasty and prepared well, seasoned great, and fresh. I'm starting off with a 3-rating because they were having an off night. We did arrive after 8:30 PM, so it was a late dinner for us after a long day of travel. Place was lively but not overcrowded. It was a seat yourself situation, about 15 minutes before someone acknowledged us once we sat down. Party of 3, we did finally receive waters, then she said someone else would be our server. Ok, another 15 minutes before someone came to take our order, alright no worries except she still wasn't our waitperson. We were an 'easy' (yes it is my opinion) order because we all ordered Salads with either chicken or Salmon. Tell me why it took over an hour before we received our food???? Oh goodness we were starving, and when it arrived I had ordered the wrong salad. My fault. I still ate it because Lord knows when I would get my replacement. Our server was very sweet, but did not make sure we had silverware or napkins. So, Mom and I came to Elizabethtown to visit my niece. She bragged about this place. I looked up their reviews and read about the general manager. The reviews were good or better depending on their location. You're probably of the mindset (like me) that if you claim to specialize in several cuisines at the same spot, one is destined to suffer. I'm sure you can guess which one. And you'll probably be right. If you are a sushi lover, this is probably not the best place to get the freshest rolls. You'll be disappointed. We got here pretty early on a Friday, but by the time we left the place was PACKED! So, this is a local favorite; I'm assuming. Mom got a club sandwich that she loved. But she felt like she was having trouble biting into the sandwich and found what appeared to be one of those pieces of wax paper that separates cheese slices. The manage came to our table. Hey, there she is in the flesh! She apologized and asked my Mom if she would like another to which Mom say, "Yes". She really enjoyed that sandwich. My niece to the filet and sushi. She enjoyed that meal and thought the steak was very tender. Her husband ordered a burger. It was huge, but he had no problem putting it away! Our server was very attentive, giving us refills of water and soda without asking. I ordered two rolls. One was a Christmas special (Santa's spicy tuna roll), the other was not. I felt bad I ordered the second, because it was so bland I only ate two pieces. I actually forced the Santa roll down. It was spicy, but still lacked the freshness of the rolls I am used to. Tried Drake's for the first time this evening. The hostess Meadow was very friendly and told us there would be approximately 20 minute wait I told the hostess specifically that we would like a table and not a high top barstool table. The hostess assured me that our request will be accommodated. Very quick turnaround on the wait as it ended up only being about 12 minutes. After receiving the text message that our table was ready, there was a different hostess at the stand. She told us to follow her and she lead us to a high top barstool table. I politely explained that I asked for a table because members of our party are unable to sit comfortably at a high top barstool table. The hostess seemed slightly annoyed but found us a table close by that was just being cleaned off. This is why I am deducting one star. I would hope that the host staff would pay closer attention to specific requests. Our server was Philly, and they did an excellent job, taking care of us. Service was great considering this place just recently opened in the last couple of weeks. Our server made sure that our drinks stayed filled and checked in on us often. I ordered the buffalo chicken mini sliders. They were tossed with the right amount of buffalo sauce to bring just enough heat. Paired with crispy crinkle cut fries, it was a great meal! I did think it was a little odd that one of my mini sandwiches had ranch dressing on it and the other two did not. I would have loved it if all of them had ranch dressing on them. The house ranch dressing was amazing and the perfect accompaniment to the buffalo chicken sliders. Overall, I think our first dining experience at Drake's was a success. When you visit, take note that the front room of the restaurant will be packed with people. There is one small walkway between the bar and the tables. It definitely makes it hard to navigate through that part of the restaurant. Fortunately, we were seated in the back, where tables were close to each other, but not as crowded as the front. I did not notice if there was a party room available. It would be nice to have an area where you could seat a larger group. We will probably give it a couple more weeks before we visit again. Maybe the newness will wear off a little and it'll be less crowded. read more

So this was first visit (duh, it just opened) Luckily got there pretty early (older folks with us) not many places for larger party's. But was able to sit us with two tables closer together. The menu had quite a few good options. It was very hard to choose. And will be back to try other options. What I did have Pretzels with cheese. Most excellent!!! Fried pickles. Very impressed. They were still crisp and very dill and the sauce was even tastier. I ordered the turkey avocado sandwich. (Ok I'm from ca and lived in an avocado grove. So I love avocado. ) the sandwich was good. My complaint was that I couldn't find the avocado. It was like you would spread butter. I also ordered sweet potato waffle fries. My complaint was they were cold. This is a great new addition for restaurants in Etown and was very busy for lunch on their opening day. They have an extensive menu with lots of decent bar, food options, and sushi. They are a little pricey, but you get a good size portion for both your appetizer your meal in your side. I had the patty melt with coleslaw, which was very good with the horseradish sauce, and the coleslaw was not overly wet and a little on the sweet side. We also tried the pretzel appetizer. which came with mustard and cheese sauce, which were both delicious with the pretzel. I would say the largest complaint is that the two top tables were too small to fit the large portions in the baskets that they serve them in we had to ask our server multiple times to clear our table to have room for the next item. I definitely recommend trying it at least once for a different style of restaurant and food in the area. read more
