We came here for dinner and it is our first visit; 4 kids & 3 adults. Attentive staff. Young & new to the sushi concept, but it's central Kentucky, for goodness' sake. What do you expect - some Shinto shrine with a Taiko drum show? Anyway, Amelia, our waitress, was kind and helpful. The food was tasty overall, especially the fried rice & seaweed salad. The yellowtail had been on ice too long & while still good, lost a bit of its proper tang when truly fresh. Again - it wasn't spoiled but sashimi demands that crisp, fresh snap when you bite into it. The canned soda thing ... not a fan. Perhaps it's a cost thing but at least don't show cases of soda in view & along the path to the john. The shrimp tempura & spicy tuna rolls were solid winners, & our guest had never had miso soup or real sushi until this meal. She's very happy, and so are we. Like I said, overall it was a good meal. But sushi joints need a staff that's crackerjacking & knowledgeable about this experience. Hardin County in general and ETown in particular are growing fast. Places like Wasabi need to rise to that challenge & train that staff to be on the nose about the menu & the sushi experience in particular. The owner spoke with us as we left. After scouring yelp for recommendations on somewhere to eat, we stumbled across Wasabi. It had excellent reviews and we were in the mood for sushi. Wasabi didn't disappoint! It's located in a little strip mall, with a large parking lot. When we entered we were immediately greeted by two servers and allowed to choose our table. There were several booths and then tables in the middle. It's a smaller restaurant with about 10 tables. The menu has many options including sushi, noodles, kids menu, bento boxes, fried rice and more. We ordered the California roll, shrimp fried rice and chicken bento boxes. We got in on the lunch special for the bento box! The food arrived extremely fast with the sushi coming out first. Then a few minutes later the fried rice. Everything was very fresh and delicious. The bento boxes are the real show stopper. Tons of hot and fresh food. The chicken was so tender and juicy and was drenched in a delicious teriyaki sauce, it also included gyoza, sushi, fried rice and veggies. I would 100% order it again. Our first time visiting Wasabi! We visited on a Saturday evening about 7:30pm and was pretty slow nite but the service was outstanding and the food fresh! It's so nice to have another sushi option right here in Etown! I was so excited to try this place out. We came here for dinner just before the dinner rush and snagged a nice booth. We started with the gyoza fried dumplings and we ate these so fast I almost forgot to take a picture. Needless to say we really liked these. For entrees we got chicken hibachi and several rolls. The hibachi came with the usual salad and choice of soup--they were out of miso so we went with wonton. These were really good! And the hibachi was not too bad either. All of the rolls we ordered were delicious too, and the way they were presented on the plate was really, really lovely. My only qualm was with the ginger and the wasabi. The ginger did not taste as I was expecting, and the wasabi was off-putting in color and flavor, sort of like play-doh. I just stayed away from these and enjoyed the rolls with just soy sauce. Overall great experience, and I can't wait to come back. I really am so happy that Etown is getting some much needed variety. I plan on continuing to support, and you should too! read more

I came in, to order to go since it's was pretty busy. Ordering was a breeze, the staff at the counter got my order in and paid. She told me it would be about 15 minutes. Gave me time to walk over to a nearby store in the shopping center. Came back everything was packed and ready to go. Everything was packed well that nothing spilled. I have to start this with the fact that I am a huge authentic ethnic food snob. Eating Americanized rolls is not the true sushi experience. That said, Wasabi is a little light on what I truly enjoy as sushi, but short of driving to Louisville or Bowling Green, they appear to be my best local option. Their sushi is adequate and satisfies my cravings. They are actually more of a pan Asian restaurant rather than a Japanese restaurant. My elderly mother who is an extremely picky eater does have me get her a specific Chinese dish from Wasabi that she enjoys very much. I myself have never eaten anything but the sushi pictured along with my review. The nigiri sushi and simple rolls are good. But I have been there multiple times and the food has been very consistent. I almost always get carry out so that I can eat with my homebound mom. The restaurant is a beautiful space, might even be a bit on the small side, once business really gets going for them. They are at the far end of a new strip mall where only a few stores are actually open. But once more traffic starts going to this location I would expect Wasabi to have excellent business. Excellent service as well and they do have excellent lunch specials from what I have been told by others enjoying them. read more

My sister, niece and I dined there last week. They ordered salmon and it was awful. It came with two filets and one of my sisters' filets was jiggly, jellied and extremely soft. This was my second time at the restaurant. It's a very small restaurant and if you don't get there when they open then expect a wait. When I got there this time the server told me to sit anywhere I wanted to, but he later came back and told me that "they" told me to have you move to a smaller table. Another decent option for sushi in Elizabethtown. It's as good as the others and better than cellar dweller Ginza which you should avoid at all cost. It's a small restaurant, new and clean and definitely looks like a franchise, especially with that logo but may not be. We got take out and ordered the sushi deluxe and one of the hibachi entrees with some shumai appetizers. I was skeptical about the sushi which came nigiri style on a bed of rice because they served it with some neon green wasabi. Real wasabi is actually yellow kinda like horseradish, and neon green wasabi is suspect. Despite my initial misgivings the sushi was really good, tuna, salmon, tako (octopus) and a pink and white colored fish (escolar maybe). It came with a spicy tuna roll. The hibachi entree was also very good relatively speaking, although the portion was small given the price ($20+). The shumai was disappointing and looked like it came from the frozen section at the Aldi across the street. They do have American Chinese entrees if you don't like sushi or Japanese hibachi but you didn't want to stay home and eat hamburger helper by yourself while your friends went to get some sushi. I wish I could give 3.5 stars but couldn't so I went with 4. First off, this is a cute little place in etown and I'm so glad to have another local business. The food was fine and the service was great. I wasn't blown away but I liked it. I got miso soup and it was good, better than most of the other sushi places in town. It was light, not too heavy. My husband and I got 2 deep fried rolls - volcano and x-men. They were both good. I wasn't blown away but I liked them both. My husband also got some eel and said it was excellent. It is hard to judge a place on just a couple of dishes, so the official verdict is still out. They have a decent selection of food, not just sushi. They have some Chinese dishes, sushi, rolls, and hibachi style dishes. The service was great. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. Our orders were promptly taken and they checked on us a couple of times to make sure we were happy with our food. The presentation of the rolls was beautiful. I honestly didn't pay any attention to the prices so I can't really say if they were expensive or not. But the rolls were very large for whatever they cost. I will probably be back with a friend. Found this place today. Its a small little place, very clean and nice. Service was great. But everyone wants to know about the food, that's why we are here right ;). First thing I have to say is I am on Keto and wife cannot eat rice. Most places around here wont bother to attempt to accommodate making rolls without rice, or maybe its one or two rolls. This place without any hesitation said they would make any roll without rice for us. Huge plus above anything in the area. Wife got a spicy tuna and a California roll. I ended up going the deluxe sashimi plate. Roll came out well, spicy tuna more on mild side. Sashimi was good, decent slices, could tell it was still a bit frozen but id rather that and knowing it was stored properly. We will definitely be back, may be our new favorite sushi place. Side note: wasabi was a bit mild too, can use more than usual if you like it spicy. read more
