My girlfriend and I went to Steak-N-Shake last night. It was Terrible. The lady that took our order was more concerned about who was come through the door than taking our order. It really took her about 2 minutes to take our order and we knew what we wanted. When she brought us ours drinks, my girlfriend was served a Sprite but she ordered a Coke. We ordered at 11:45 and did not get our food until 12:21. The waitress said that the cook skip over our order. So me being me I look at the ring-up time on the receipt. It said 12:15. Then when we finally got to eat the fries were cold and no ketchup on the table for my fries. Want a cheap burger and fries? Steak 'n Shake serves up a hamburger with toppings and fries for $3.29. The burger was smashed, seared, and grilled just right with fresh lettuce, fresh onion, fresh tomato, long sliced pickles, and whatever condiments you desire. It was good for the price. The kids liked the skinny cut fries and we all got a good laugh at the bowl of chili that I ordered...it was half-full or half-empty...either way, it was comical. Nobody cared once the giant chocolate milkshake arrived. It took four of us to eat it all. The service was kind, expedient, and efficient. Just have the waitress approach your table, take your order and then go ' we should have that out to you in between the hours of 10am and 2pm ' and you look at your watch and it's precisely 9:25 am.... I just looked at her, looked at the empty parking lot and then took my food and scoffed... What else am I gonna do!? I did it to myself.... Should have known better... Another time I went, I had my eleven year old daughter take my parents coffee mugs which had been empty for 30 minutes up to the drink station to ask for a refill... Now, some might think that was a jerk move, but I assure you, it's the only way to get stuff done at this store... The waitress told my daughter ' honey, i can only do one thing at a time, i'll be there soon ' ... Apparently, she can be a b*tch and lazy at the same time, but can't deliver food and talk to her cook about her activites the previous night at the same time... I'm not one of those parents that immediately gets mad as soon as someone talks crossways to the kids.. They need to learn that people are jerks and rude and insufferable pr*cks,,, But, I did ask to speak to the manager... I informed him of my concerns with the store and how everytime we come, I feel like I'm either going to see a doctor or waiting on a comcast service agent to come and repair my internet or TV... When he said they are working diligently to fix the problem, I wanted to contact the 'national council to protect the word diligent' and let them know that someone was using this word in the most egregious fashion... After lecturing him about the issue and him showing as much emotion as if I was reading him the entire preamble to the constitution in latin, I decided to just leave it be and tell him we were never coming back.... Delayed this review until the third unhappy experience with this location. Service is slow, inaccurate twice, no apparent sense of urgency or timeliness on part of servers. Most recent visit was carry out, oredered onion rings, $2.29 regular size. Received six onion rings cooked in stale oil that had a fishy flavor. The steak burger wasn't up to past experience either, and my thoughts about it may be colored by my disappointment with the onion rings. A Steak and Shake closer to us closed five or so years ago but I don't remember these sorts of issues with that location. read more

Absolute garbage. The meat on the steak burgers are half a centimeter thick and crunchy. The Parmesan seasoned fries are way to strong so make sure you have gum around if you are going to order them. All in all would not go there again read more

I personally LOVE steak and shake but quite frankly this location SUCKS! I'll never eat here again. We spent 30 min in drive through line. The girl working the drive thru had NO CLUE what was going on....she forgot to ring up entire orders. The food was prepared incorrectly. She even held up the shake trying to look through the styrofoam cup to see what type of shake it was. Totally clueless! Poor service. This is a pitiful excuse for a restaurant. Even a "fast-food" establishment. Every now and then, my husband has a craving for a shake and some chili, and we end up here. Out of the past 5-6 times we have gone, we have gotten horrible service, no service or our order has been wrong when served at least 4 times. Once we sat down for dinner to have our order taken and watch as the waiter, who was also doubling as a dishwasher and bus-boy, her fed up and walk out the door without ever turning in our order, and having the others in there walk by our table for 30 mins and not even look our way! We have been seated more times than not, in the one table without dishes piled on it. We have sat quietly and only spoken up the once (the time our waiter quit), but tonight was the final straw. We enter the place and are promptly seated in the corner between more tables stacked to the hilt with dirty dishes. We ignore it, we are hungry from a day of mowing and yard work and all my kids and husband want is a milkshake and some food. We watch as a waitress takes 15 minutes with a table explaining menu items and taking two lemonades back to refill when things are spotted floating in them. We see another table continuously raise their arms to flag her as she passes by, only to be told she would be right back. We watch as who I assume was the manager, paces back and forth between the register and the drink station, and proceeds to engage the three waiters/waitresses in a 10 minute conversation, but no one has made eye contact with us since we were seated. My son, who must be a bathroom inspector, goes on one of his extended bathroom breaks, and STILL when he returns, no one has made eye contact even though I am staring a hole in the back of the backs of their heads. We remain seated, as we watch two more tables being seated, and notice that their orders are taken, but still no one has even noticed we are there. We start to wonder if we are invisible. Finally, much to my son's disliking, we decide to get up and walk out. 30 minutes we have waited and not gotten a look much less a glass of water. As we walk out the door, no one looks our direction, and my normally shy and quiet husband takes this opportunity to vocalize his disgust. No one bats an eye. I feel this is "normal" in their daily business. This place is a disgrace to Steak and Shake's name. It is a spit in the face to the founders. It is a disgusting excuse for restaurant. I cannot believe the health department has not seen it in this condition, as we have seen it every time we have come. Mark my words. This place is an absolute joke and will never get any more of our business. My parents, who live just a couple miles away, finally swore this place off after getting the order wrong countless times (evidently the girl could differentiate between a bean crock and a sprite...). Despite this, my family decided to stop by and grab dinner on the way to my parents house. After telling the girl at the drive thru 6 times the first order (#2, plain with a vanilla shake...not difficult...) he asked for someone else to take the order. After sitting there for another few minutes in silence, we finally pulled out of the drive thru and my husband went inside to order. He asked for the manager to tell him what happened. The manager proceeded to tell him 'I don't give a F*#^ what you're saying.' Are you serious???? I sat in the drive through at this location for 45 minutes before finally making it to the speaker window. I would t have waited this long, but nothing else was open on Christmas Day. I finally heard someone come over the speaker and say she'd be right with me. 30 minutes later, and no one came back to the speaker. I really enjoy the food at steak and shake. This is the worst location I have been to. We waited to be seated then looked around and saw most if the tables were dirty. We ordered and the 2 servers walked around looking lost. Food was sitting in the window and they were just walking around looking at the dirty tables. No one picked up orders and no one cleaned tables. When people came in they were taken to a dirty table and it would then get cleared. The manager is at the counter just chat I g. Probably the worst service I've ever had at a Steak 'n Shake establishment. Made an order online, and paid for it. I was sent an email confirmation stating the order would be ready at 9:08 pm. Upon arrival to the restaurant at 9:09 pm, the front door was locked. I proceeded to get back in my vehicle and get in the drive thru lane. The lane was backed up out of the parking lot. Drove back to front of building, knocked on window to finally be let in. At this point it is 9:20. I am told that my food order has not even been started yet, because they did not believe I would be coming to pick up an order, THAT I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR. I am a very patient individual having worked in the service industry I get it, but to be standing at the "please wait to be seated" for 10 MINUTES without any acknowledgement was a little off putting. This was not my first visit to a Steak 'n Shake, or to this location. However, it has to have been the worst visit to any Steak 'n Shake ever. We were seated relatively quickly; however the dining area was a mess (I don't even want to know what the restrooms looked like) as several tables had to be cleared. We were told that early in the day they had a rush of customers and were a bit behind due to lack of dishes. Be that as it may, it took forever for our waitress to take our orders, and the restaurant as a whole seemed to be in complete disarray and disorganization. The icing on the cake so to speak was when it took them 20 minutes just to get my fiance her milkshake to go, and another 20 minutes on top of that for me to get my ice cream sundae. Needless to say, by the time I got my desert, my fiance had finished hers... so much for ordering it to go. On top of that the waitress seemed to forget to give us our final bill and so we just went up to the register and paid it right then and there. In the end, until this location improves I think we will stick to the Franklin Steak 'n Shake. read more

In the battle of mediocrity of late night eating, Steak 'n Shake is the gold standard of places to not waste your time at. I went to this location last night and pulled into the drive-thru at 10:41 PM. On any given day it will take close to five minutes for someone to recognize that anyone would come to their restaurant, for some unbeknownst reason. Knowing this, I waited for a while to have someone answer - until 10:54 to be exact. At this time I angrily drove away and to the front to go inside and see what the fuck the dingalings were doing. I parked my car and walked in. I guess, the manager promptly informed me that they were closed for the night. The guy looked like he couldn't even manage how much crack to smoke for one night, let alone that restaurant. Also too cracked out to realize that they were supposed to open til midnight, oh well. Saved me from a greasy stomach ache. $4-4-4 is a deal pitched when food is shit and the franchise is running one or two stars across the board. Really this place doesn't deserve any stars. I was there on June 18, 2016. Service was slow and wS sag a a dirty table in a dirty area. Food was wrong, cold and nasty. Manager gave the impression that he was annoyed with my complaints. Try to contact corporate office and had to find a feedback number I under the career tab. Spoke with receptionist,seemed nice enough and was assured I would be contacted be an area director but all I got was ready form email with my name added. I walked in & was greeted promptly by a very nice server, I informed her I wanted to place an order to go & she pointed me in the way of her manager at the counter. Ate here for breakfast, and while the hot food was okay there were a litany of problems. 1st it was sloooooowwww. There were maybe three tables with customers, and it took almost 20 minutes to receive a fairly simple order of 2 breakfast tacos and a yogurt parfait. 2nd the tacos came to the table long before the yogert. I waited there for 10 minutes before I drove up to the window and waited another 5 before someone acknowledged me, after I told the girl that how long I had been waiting she laughed and said that her headset "accidentally" got switched off.
