Always disappointing. Fries are terrible unless you like thin cold flavorless fries. Burgers are mediocre.

The absolute worst. Waited in the drive thru at 10pm on a Tuesday night about three weeks ago for almost 30 minutes with only one car in front of us. I finally called the restaurant and they said that something was wrong with their drive thru speaker. When we were finally at the speaker I did have difficulty talking to them. But here's the real horror story: while we were waiting I noticed garbage and food containers piled high beside the back door of the restaurant. Also, only two other cars parked there. That night I got violently ill after having eaten a hamburger. I have not fully recovered, and as of yesterday, discovered after a trip to the doctor that I had contracted intestinal parasites, probably from contaminated food! Be very afraid of this place. I have never had this happen before. Stay away at all costs. It isn't a clean place. I'm sick thinking about it. read more

Absolutely horrible. We went thru the drive-thru. The fries were old, cold, and hard as a brick, the hot dogs and the bag inside and out were drowned in mustard, food was just dumped in the bag, and the cashier practically tossed the bag to me. Legendarily bad service! Waited 30mins in the drive through while the window girl talked to her boyfriends. Pinned between him and someone else so I couldn't leave. Then when I got my food? Horrible experience. I love Steak and Shake but this particular day I go there and had to ask to be seated. I also waited a good minute before asking for a drink. Lastly I waited probably 10 mins before finally seeing the waitress take other tables orders. I have never in my life been treated so poorly at a restaurant. From the moment we walked in the door (10 min to be seated with many empty tables and no crowd), to our meal service, to receiving the check, having to ask twice, the experience was a disaster. I will never return! read more

This place is gross. You wait forever to get your food. The employees yell at each other swearing and using vulgar language. And I'm 90% sure I saw a waitress spit in a milk shake while another employee was watching her laughing. Either that or she stuck her face in it to smell it. The place was half empty and it took a good 10 minutes to be seated while I looked at the servers move very relaxed while doing a million other things while not seating me and my guest. My group was even acknowledged and told they had to clean up a little before we were seated. The problem with that was there were at least 5 free tables and all clean so I was understandably perplexed. Then finally we were seated with somewhat of an apology from the manager (halfhearted). Then we sat for 10 minutes again never even asked about our drink options and keep in mind it was not hectic or crazy in there to ANY stretch of the mind. Then we see another older couple come in and sit down to be addressed IMMEDIATEDLY by the same server cleaning the table next to us and asked what they wanted and we were STILL not addressed. I had to ask the server if she was gonna address us and was greeted with disdain and contempt hidden behind a smile. We left soon afterwards and I'll never again walk through those doors. If there was a negative rating, this would be the only one I would have to say deserved it of all the places I have been in ten years. Steak 'n Shake is my grandson's favorite place to eat, but he is 9 and doesn't see the horrible, dirty glass partitions between booths that 99 % of the time are absolutely filthy. A few weeks ago they were literally smeared with hand and finger marks on each and every one, covering them, like there was a party the night before. I nicely asked the manager about it and was just given a shrug, no attempts were made by anyone to remedy the situation. Very disgusting. There is never any acknowledgment when you arrive, you just stand there and hope someone finally seats you, it is to the point of awkward and the odd thing is the times we have gone there has been only 2-3 tables of people in the entire restaurant. The first time we went, we were finally seated, only to never have a server come back after a 25 minute wait, we just left. The last time we went, we had NO waitress, someone took our order saying she wasn't our waitress, someone else dropped our food off and no one ever came back. The last and most frustrating information I can share is that never, not once, have they gotten our orders right. We are rarely given silverware. One visit, our eggs were not cooked at all on top and burnt on the bottom, we kindly (always with greatest kindness and respect) let our server know, she took them and never brought replacements. We had sat and watched our food sit for over 10 minutes another time under the warmer until it was horrid. If it wasn't for my grandson I would never have gone twice. Please, save yourself the agony...the managers seem to care less about the careless attitude they all have. read more

Avoid this location of Steak n Shake! It is terrible. Visited as a party of 2 at 2:00 PM on a Saturday. Waited way too long to get seated when there are plenty of empty tables. Finally got seated and ordered drinks, but they don't arrive. I've been in the restaurant 45 minutes before I was asked to place an order for food (still don't have the drinks at this point). Food finally arrives after we had been there almost an hour. No silverware. One burger is fine, fries are cold. The other burger is ice cold and not fixed as ordered, but fries are fine. Sent the burger back and placed the order again which was still not right, but at least warm. Will not eat at this location again. read more

Says it's open 24/7 but was told when we walked in that it is carry out only at 11:40 because it gets "dangerous" outside. Hate this location, have had nothing but bad experiences and heard bad as well. Just avoid this steak and shake. Terrible. And apparently too dangerous outside past midnight this way. read more

I can't believe it took so long through this drive thru. me and my daughter was there at 12 am there was 4 cars in the line. Had to repeat my order 2-3 times and then still didn't get it right. the food was good, no complaints there. read more

My order was wrong, the waitress was M.I.A, the food is mediocre as expected, but the overall attitude of the staff is repugnant.

Went into this location today & waited in line for about 15 minutes before being seated. There was apparently only one server working and she was swamped. Multiple tables still had their menus & no drinks. She explained to us she would be with us as soon as possible, but her co-server had just walked out without telling anyone & had apparently quit. She apologized & we could tell she was sincerely in the weeds. We waited at our table for about 30 minutes and she was still taking orders for tables that were there before us, so we decided to leave. I've never had a problem with the food at this location, but management is definitely an issue. There should've been more than two servers scheduled for a busy Sunday, and when they saw the server struggling, they should've helped with order taking or at least drinks. The manager kept his back to the dining room and was (very casually) cooking at the grill. Needs new management & more staff working shifts to speed service along. Lunch nightmare. Forty minutes from order to getting food. Chaos in the kitchen. No coordination.

As someone else said, this is a very poor excuse for a restaurant. First impression is it's FILTHY! The white tile under our table was literally black with a greasy buildup of some sort. This place needs to be bleached top to bottom. We placed our order, 20 minutes passes, and nothing; no drinks, no nothing. Needless to say we walked out. If I could give it -1 star I would. This place has horrible service. They take forever to serve your food, and when they do serve your food they don't make it correctly. For instance, they gave me a milkshake that was so watery and did not have the thickness that a milkshake should have it also did not have a cherry. Horrible!! DIRTY!! The entire restaurant was filthy & sticky. Our waitress took 10 minutes to bring water. She never came back to the table we ordered shakes that took 40 minutes & charged us full price at happy hour.. We will never return! Our family happens to love Steak & Shake. With all the bad reviews, you would think this Steak 'n Shake in Antioch was run by that commie moron barry odumba. Well, I went in at noon lunch rush hour and ordered a double burger and fries to go. I waited about 10 minutes. There was one waitress who was working her butt off and still asked me if I was helped, now that is service. My only complaint is that the buns are too big. It would be nice if they had burgers on toasted buttery sandwich bread instead. read more

We stopped here mainly for my three teenage boys to get shakes but decided to go ahead and eat as well. When we went in around 8:00pm, there was a party of two already waiting to be seated. The restaurant was more than half empty and we counted 4 employees walk right past all of us, not acknowledging any of us, not even making eye contact. There were 3 servers in the back still in view playing with phones and laughing. Finally the party of two ahead of us and our party of four were taken at the same time to be seated. The employee sat menus on a dirty table and told us "Here" and walked away to seat the other party. We had so much time to look over the menu that we had our drink, milkshake and food order ready by the time our server got to us. After taking our order, we asked for the table to be wiped down - which he did with a couple napkins in his hand before walking away. About two minutes after he walked away, three milkshakes were brought to our table. These weren't ours. We could tell by looking at them that they were clearly all wrong. By the time the server came over his response was "Yeah, that was too fast to be yours, but since you started eating them..." which I quickly interrupted that we hadn't eaten them. The table next to us spoke up and said they had been watching us and knew we didn't eat them - and that they were for them. So we passed them over to them. Food took about 20 minutes to show up - way too long for so few people in the restaurant. The fries were cold on all four orders, the burgers on three were cold to the point where the cheese had hardened. We had no forks or napkins so had to sit there waiting for an employee to come back out so we could ask for some. We got forks, not wrapped in anything, so no telling if they were clean or not... no napkins though. We had to ask again. After waiting even longer, I finally got up and went through the door where they were all standing and said I wanted napkins. They were brought to us - but our napkins didn't match any of the other napkins on any of the tables or the ones that he used to wipe our table down - where did these come from?? This is by far the worst Steak & Shake I have ever been to and will absolutely never go back to this one again. read more

I'm usually a pretty pleasant person, but I'm also one who believes in honesty..with that being said, I'm going to say this in the most respectful manner. Myself & another decided to go through the drive thru since we were craving just a simple old shake. We weren't greeted at the box and was simply stated to just go ahead with our order. We asked for more time & was in fact, in a nice manner, told they were sorry and to go ahead when we were ready. It sounded as if they didn't want to work there at all, not just that day. Anyway, with the intent of knowing that we all have "those days" at work we simply proceeded to the window and were greeted a little more nicer I guess you could say?..we received our shakes which were added no whipped cream and received it anyway, no biggie...we just let it go. We ended up arriving to our destination (not even 7 mins away) & was sad to say the shake wasn't even mixed up. I took the spoon and lifted it pulling up big ice chunks of ice cream with too much milk and syrup making it watery and just too runny to enjoy even after setting it in the freezer for 20 mins. The other shake was way too sweet, like they added their own sugar into it. We decided not to call but to just let it go, but I felt the need to just post this as a heads up, everyone messes up, but everyone still deserves good quality when it's your own money being spent out of pocket no matter what the day may look like. This Steak N Shake has good food. The wait staff they have is ok. I love going there when I am in Nashville visiting my daughter and her family. Last night was the last straw. We waited over 10 minutes to PAY our bill. There was a young woman taking another patron's cash right before us. She took their money and then left the cash register to deliver food. The Manager was helping the cook while watching us wait to pay our bill. Well my ex husband and I decided to leave the money at the cash register for the bill. Then I thought someone would come and take the money and the waitress would be responsible for the bill. So we waited another few minutes until my ex decided to yell rather loudly that we were leaving our money and said "Thank You". The manager yelled "THANK YOU". Every time we go there we have to wait forever to pay. I don't understand that. I wouldn't be surprised that many people just walk out without paying. read more
