This used to be my favorite dying restaurant chain. They had reasonable prices and good food. Now they have neither. Everything is effed up with beef tallow now. Visited May 16, 2023. This place blew my mind today! It's been a while since I've been to this location now that I'm in Murfreesboro. Compared to to the Murfreesboro location this location is by far nicer in cleanliness, service, and furniture. Honestly I'm still stuck on how clean the place is. They recently renovated but there is still the classic diner style. For the parents, there are high chairs, boosters, and a changing table in the large stall (women's). The restroom door also has a "foot" pull handle to prevent germ transfer. The food is good and fast as expected for a diner (it's heavy on the butter if ordering the item with butter or garlic butter). It's a fast casual dining restaurant so guests will order at the kiosk before sitting. When your order is ready your receipt number will be called. Staff was great, they greeted and was always cleaning. Food presentation was also better than the Boro. I've noticed the 'Boro put everything in Togo containers like the cheese and shakes. Here however, if you clicked 'dine-in' with cheese fries and a shake you get the dine-in experience! They put the cheese on your fries and shakes in the tall shake glass, small details that doesn't make too much of a difference but I appreciate it. Not consistent!! I have came here every weekend for the last 3 weekends(yeah big back moves) I've had to request everything be made fresh ! greeted with"we make everything fresh, I went this Saturday12/20/2025, cheeseburger not made fresh, fries were so little gave crumbs and everything was upside down in my bag including the cheese sauce, it's taken me years to come back, won't be back for awhile and I was told to pull up to wait...... for a cold burger...... ok read more

I ordered two orders of chicken tenders and received only one honey mustard. When I asked the cashier for another honey mustard she said I could not have another unless I paid $0.50 after I already paid for my food. Ive always been a loyal customer here and I come frequently and place multiple orders at a time. Even though there are close restaurants that serve the same thing I still choose to come here but my experience this day was enough to make me never come back!!! read more

They really need to install waitresses and waiters again and remove those "self service kiosks". I haven't been back since they installed those. I watched an elderly couple struggle while trying to order so I went to help them enter their order. The employees never offered to help them. Until they go back to customer service...I will stay away! read more

My wife and I stopped at this steak 'n shake location to feed a quick sweet tooth. We went through the drive-thru considering we didn't feel like getting out of the car and we were greeted immediately once we arrived at the order board. The employs seemed super friendly and nice even though it was late at night. We both shared a cookie dough shake and I don't know what they do to it but it was so delicious! I haven't been to a steak 'n shake in years but can definitely see myself being a repeat customer at this location again. read more

Awesome location! I've been here two times now, both through the drive-thru, and have had great experiences both times. Staff seems friendly and helpful and I've appreciated the rewards they offer to customers who have the app! Once you download it, you'll have a free shake reward, which was super awesome! Visit: 29 MAY 23 Self serve was the best thing that could have happened to Steak and Shake. It is sad that the wait staff had to find elsewhere to work but to save the business from going under, I think this was the right move. The ease of ordering and self serve drinks is super convenient. I do not like their shoestring fries at all, so I opted for onion rings for an up charge. Such a wise decision. I went for my go to the Frisco melt - I have been eating this same option since I first discovered Steak and shake while stationed at Ft. Campbell. It is not healthy of course. But it is quick and freshly made. I timed them and it took them about 10 minutes from when I pressed "complete order" to when they called my name. I expect that because it is made fresh. The staff are friendly and attentive. The place is relatively clean (with the exception of the sticky floor near the drinks - someone must have spilled soda) If you want an inexpensive dinner without the fuss of a normal sit down restaurant, choose this place - convenient to I-24. The outdoor seating is available too, but You have no way of hearing your name being called out there lol. read more

We aren't from the area and our local Steak N Shake closed many years ago and I used to love eating there before it went downhill and closed. We were visiting and decided to go to the Steak N Shake here in town. We had 6 people in our group and we walked in expecting to be seated as we always had been but we stood there, and stood there, and stood there. They were not busy at all. Only two tables occupied. The people working there just stared at us. No one said "hello" or greeted us. We were ignored. No one even told us about the kiosks that were to our left. It took us standing there forever before we realized there were even kiosks at all. I know the employees could see us standing there confused but they said nothing. So we found the kiosk and by the time we got 6 whole orders in I had no desire to even eat anymore. Then we are handed a ticket for our drinks that we have to get for ourselves....which was ok...I don't mind that too much, but my husband was scanning the ticket but no drink was dispensing. There were at least 3-4 employees standing around watching but no one bothered to help until my husband spoke to them. Our table was also dirty...a lot of the tables looked like they hadn't been wiped down in a while. It was not a nice friendly experience like I remember it used to be. I will definitely not be going back to any of their locations. McDonald's has become the same way. Very cold, frustrating, and the food was not that great anymore. read more

I haven't eaten at a Steak 'n Shake in possibly 6 or 7 years, but I was in the area in need of a quick grab and go lunch before a meeting and this was the most convenient stop I saw. I was pretty impressed-- this may be because the last couple of times (years ago, at different S'n'S locations) were very subpar, or because I haven't had a burger and fries in months, but my "Frisco Melt" and shoestring fries from this location were great. All of my order was piping hot and tasted fresh with the right amount of toppings, sauce, etc. The price was very fair, the service was super friendly, and this place seems clean and up to date. read more
