The best burger in the area, great service, easy to order ahead and great place to enjoy a fantastic burger

Food The food was decent. Tried the chicken sandwich and fries. The chicken sandwich was loaded with cheese, so I'd probably order it without if I go again. The fries were decent, also. Overall, the food was decent. I've had better, I've had worse. At the pricepoint, I expected a little more flavor and attention to detail. Not a huge draft beer selection which surprised me with it being a burger place. Service This is where this place shines. Bartender was amazing and attentive and took the time to talk over some things with me. My food did come out quick and was piping hot. Ambiance I would say it's an ok place to catch a game but there isn't too much seating at the bar, either. Would I go back? Possibly lol. Maybe to try one of their beef burgers. read more

I love the 12South location and always had great experiences so thought we'd try this. The food was really good although I think they changed the buns or they get different buns at this location. The service was extremely slow for our table .... we only had three people, did not order appetizers and people who came in after us got apps and their entrees before our food arrived. Sort of annoying!! We had to ask for ketchup three times and finally got when we were half way through our meal. One person in our party ordered potato salad instead of fries..... but his food came with fries by mistake..... I told the server who brought the potato salad BUT when the bill arrived we were charged $3 and an additional $7 (a total of $10) for the potato salad that should've been included in the meal. It was taking so long we paid before seeing tab and after waiting 15 minute for her to return with credit card and check to sign we didn't have time to wait for to correct the mistake. Really ruined the occasion. :( read more

We loved the Brussel sprouts. They were gluten free. We ordered two gluten free smash burgers, one with no bun and the other as a lettuce wrap. Both burgers came with buns on the. One of them was a gluten free bun and the other was a regular bun. They had to remake the burger. Both burgers were dry and tasteless. My sweet potato fries were overdone and had no flavor. A 2 star because we know the mistake was not the server but the kitchen's fault. We will not be back. read more

[July 2025] I came here on my last night in Franklin on a solo date! There is a parking lot that is shared with other businesses in this quadrant. I started my order off with a coconut margarita which was soooooooo very good! For my meal, I ordered a bison burger with a side salad instead of fries. To this day, I still think about that burger. It was perfectly cheesy and paired well with the fried onions and fried jalapenos. If I am ever in the area again, I will definitely be back! read more

I actually liked the burger and the service was nice however, the dining area was a bit dirty. The waiters menu station was untidy, the service cabinets where the servers put in the food orders were falling down and it felt the dining area could use a spring cleaning. We ordered 2 salmon wraps and we got the salmon on a bun and I mentioned it twice anyway my friend ordered a burger with fries Then when finally our food came out his fries were ice cold and the server never came to check on us Then when we were done he never asked if we wanted dessert I been a server for 20 years and he wasn't worried about us at all Left kind of disappointed and won't be back read more

One burger was way over cooked, both burgers were just OK. The bacon on the burger had no flavor. It was crowded and I couldn't understand why so many people liked the place. I'm not a negative person, and I rarely give bad reviews. read more

Had a great time being w friends there. However, beyond disappointed w the burgers... they were all overcooked. And lukewarm when served. The fries were borderline cold. The Brussel sprouts were fantastic, and the onion rings were great too. But honestly, this place should be having a stellar burger experience and failed miserably. The server did not check on how we were doing and refused to clear the table. We arrived at 430. Only 3 other tables. No excuse for poor quality, and inability to provide excellent service. Very sad. Burger Up is a great place to gather if you are looking for fresh, elevated bar food! Cozy atmosphere ( lots of reclaimed wood) , nice staff & good food. My hubby had the classic burger & loved it! I had the grilled chicken Sammy added Avo, & arugula. It came with Honey Mustard & it was OH, SO delish! I also got the sweet potato fries & so sorry to report they were mushy & not my jam. Will not order them again. Thinking I will be healthy & order a side salad. Burger Up does not have a full bar ( I had water bc I do not drink beer) so definitely not a night spot for me but planning on coming back for lunch for the fresh, local meats. So there's a fine line between upscale/top tier "fast food" and affordable "sit down" casual dining. A matter of a couple of dollars separates the overall cost of a Red Robin, Shake Shack, Five Guys and/or a place like "Burger Up." "Burger Up" has all of those places beat hands down in terms of ambience, service, atmosphere, etc. I really appreciate their commitment to locally sourced ingredients and beef as much as possible as well, so perhaps I should also grant them grace in terms of price. I had the smash burger-Ramsey. It was...good. Good, not great. Good beef, okay toppings/bun/etc. It didn't quite feel like a smash burger--a bit thick for that maybe? It wasn't crispy around the edges particularly. But it had overall good flavor and I enjoyed it. Not greasy at all. The Ramsey supposedly has pimento cheese but if so, it was very slight. The fries were good. I had a winter ale (Shiner) which was good...but as others mentioned, $8 is a tad pricey for a Shiner even if it is seasonal, especially since I was dining at a time ripe for happy hour and/or specials. My server was great, friendly and helpful. 3 is "good" "solid" "overall worthwhile" IMO, so this is definitely not a thumbs down. There's plenty of parking, the overall atmosphere is great. I really liked a lot of things about Burger Up. The venue itself, the staff are great, and the menu -- so many options and choices. Love, actually. The housemade ketchup went excellent with my sweet potato truffle fries. I tried the sliders, because it was not plain, you could choose any two of the delicious sounding burgers. Therefore, I went with the Woodstock and the Jalapeno, but honestly, they all sounded good. For sliders, they were just good not great. The buns were a little dense (not soft), and the burger dry. Maybe the full burger would be better. I'd definitely be up for trying more on the menu, it's a great hang, too. read more

My favorite burger place in Franklin! Love the farm-to-table emphasis on dining. The black and blue or the Ramsey smash burger are both fantastic choices. Tonight we had the garlic parm chicken wings and they were a hit for the whole table. I'm not a big beer drinker, but I always like to get something they offer on tap. Just an average burger place. My husband and I got patty melts. The onions were pretty raw (in lieu of caramelized) and it just had plain I toasted white sandwich bread. We were able to try the onion rings, regular fries, and sweet potato fries. All just average and kinda soggy. The Mac and cheese bites were ok, and we would probably get them again. I don't know if the milkshake was good or I'm just prego and needed ice cream lol but I'd get it again. Service was fine considering it was packed. read more

Haven't been here in years and glad we stopped by! Our serve Alfredo was fantastic. Good beer selection. Fried pickles were delicious and served with ranch dressing. Our little had kids grilled cheese and glad it came with not only fries but apple slices. The Bison Burger was fantastic - lean but flavorful. Loved the fries the came with them - they had Parmesan, garlic and seasoning with a great mustard type sauce - very good fries! All in all, a good experience all around! read more

As a mom who drives around and drops off kids at lessons, this is such a great kid -friendly restaurant! All of their food is so good and sauces are top notch. There honestly hasn't been anything bad that we have ordered. The truffle fries are a must too! They have a great kids menu too (shown), and their plates are served on the faux paper white places and it always has a steer or cow under it after eating all their food along with wikki stix. I hope this review helps any mom out there looking for an alternative to fast food (if you have the time). read more

Glad we finally tried this place. Had a good meal and a great experience. The service was excellent (thanks, Caleb!). Interior was very nice. Somehow I was expecting more of a fast food place, but this is a great spot for dining in and hanging out, with table service. The food was good. The Fried Mac & Cheese Bites were really good, with a tasty dijon aioli for dipping. My wife loved her OG Smashburger, opting for the lettuce wrap to make it gluten-free. They also offer a gluten-free bun, and the menu is marked pretty well for gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. I had the Woodstock Burger, which was tasty. Fries were also good, nice and crispy. We will definitely come back to check it out again soon, and try some of the other burger options. read more

I think it's pretty insane for 2 hamburgers and 1 beer to cost approximately $60... $8 for an average beer that is more than a 6-pack you can buy at the store, and the hamburgers averaging about $18 bucks a piece Is CRAZY... I guess if you don't want to cook at home, then splurge... Honestly, I would come just for the fries and special made ketchup. I so wish i could duplicate that ketchup at home. When I'm craving a good burger, this is my first thought / go to! The jalapeño burger is my favorite, but in all honesty, it's not really that spicy. Spicy elements, but I would expect it to pop with a little more heat. Good flavor though. Also love the fried pickles... but I love fried pickles anywhere I go! Came to Burger Up this week and it was not good. Sent my salad back bc it tasted like it had sand in it. Ordered a burger medium, and it came well done and was way to dry to eat. Another person in our party got a patty melt, and the bread was not even toasted. I've been before and it was great, but last week every meal was off... Waiter was kind. Went here on recommendation from someone who likes BU's salmon burgers. Arrived for lunch right when they opened, and was seated at the table I requested (sunny). Based on server rec, I ordered the Woodstock burger rare, with ketchup on side. Came w fries which were perfectly salted (plenty but not overwhelming) and nicely crispy. Best fries I've had in a coupla months. (I dine out or get takeout most days.) Burger surprisingly cooked exactly as ordered, and was lightly seasoned. Thick-slab bacon cooked to medium which reduced fat but left a nice chew. Jack Daniel's ketchup was tasty--a more sophisticated and interesting flavor than standard red sweet ketchup. Bun was substantial enough to hold the whole situation together, but not bulky. (And, frankly, nothing special.) Order arrived FAST. Ate some and boxed rest for later. Service a bit lackluster. Heavy water carafe on table, but had to pour myself (and for sure spilled). Had to leave table and find server to get bill and box. I'd return, at least for takeout. read more

Disappointing. My patty melt came on untoasted bread and the patty was over cooked and very tough. My dining partners ordered the chopped kale salad and burgers (which were overcooked and tough) and had to send the salads back because they were so gritty, as if the kale hadn't been thoroughly washed. After informing the server, the salads were removed from the bill, but no apologies or substitutions were offered by the server or manager. The food was so poorly prepared that none of us were able to finish our meals. We were all very disappointed in the food and service, and we won't be returning. read more

I was visiting friends and we wanted a cheeseburger. Burger up didn't disappoint! The three of us ordered Mac N cheese bites, the jalapeño burger (pretzel bun), patty melt, waygu burger and truffle fries. Truffle fries were to tie for, as were the regular fries extra crispy. My friend loved, LOVED her jalapeño burger. The four stars is really because the patty melt and waygu burgers were okay. Waygu had too much mustard and that's all I tasted. read more

We stopped in here for dinner when we were in Franklin. We split the fish tacos, one with grilled mahi-mahi and the other one with blackened mahi-mahi. My husband got the barbecued cauliflower as a side and I got the seasoned rice. It was all very delicious! First and last time eating here. Underwhelming. Had the fried Mac and cheese and was so much breading even in the center where the Mac was. Husband for wagyu burger with onion rings and soo much breading on onion rings and weren't super crispy. They tasted like bland funnel cake breading was so thick. I had patty melt and bread was soggy and burger just fell apart. But chocolate caramel milkshake was good. read more

We wanted to try this burger up because we love the one near Belmont. We walked in and immediately noticed the place was unorganized and messy with a couple tables not yet cleaned. We were sat and just behind our table in an aisle way there was a pile of garbage on the ground that had been swept into a pile. The manager came over to seat two other people in the table next to pile and grabbed the broom that was leaning against it but didn't sweep up the pile. Instead he stepped over it. That pile sat there the entire time we were in the restaurant and 3 different employees walked around or directly over it. The manager was also vaping in the hallway outside the kitchen in plain site of customers. Our server was good and the food was good as well. But because of the messy, dirty and disorganized fashion the restaurant was in, we won't be back. read more

I'll start by saying the food was adequate. I had the ramsey smashed burger; the burger patties were fairly bland, & there was pimiento cheese that had no zing to it. I ordered potato salad instead of fries, & it wasn't well-seasoned either. The service was excellent, which is the reason for 4 stars. We sat out on the covered patio next to the playground area; there was a pesky bee there, along with a faint doggy odor. The children enjoyed playing outside with giant lego bricks. read more

The avocado burger was honestly one of the best burgers I have ever had. It was cooked perfectly and had so much flavor. And the solution that came with the truffle fries was fabulous! I will say that however, that I was a bit shocked that my burger was $15, but compared to most burgers you find out there, the taste was worth every penny!. If you like the idea of locally raised beef without any antibiotics or hormones used to raise them (some people care) and an honest to goodness burger, then check this place out. Let me start by saying I eat burgers several times a week. I'll also be honest in letting you know most of time, I eat them without the bun. I wanted to be clear because I think that plays into my review. I may have felt differently if in fact, I did choose to eat my burger with a bun. That being said, my burger was good, not great and because I practice a high protein, high fat diet, I chose to add a patty. The waiter let me know that the patties are actually kind of small. To add a patty, it's $6. These patties are like silver dollars. The fries were ok. Absolutely nothing special there. In the end, (with tip) I spent $30 on a pretty ok meal. The burger was good, not great. I was disappointed in myself for choosing this option, knowing I could have gone right down the street to Johnathan's, paid $10 bucks less, got more "burger," and I'm sorry to say, it would have tasted better too. I appreciate their approach with locally sourced meat, but overall, this place feels and tastes like a corporate trap. It's like the muffins in the plastic case at Starbucks. They look good but in reality, they're overpriced and they taste like dry cardboard. That is a little harsh because of course, my burger was not that bad. But for 30 dollars, I would hope to be knocked out of my socks. After my meal, my feet were placed firmly in my shoes. I'll be spending my money somewhere else, for sure. read more
