I went to the drive through where I ordered a 6 inch steak sandwich, nothing fancy. When I got to the window, $9.99. I told the employee that I only wanted a 6 inch. He told me that the price was correct. He boasted about their steak being of better quality. "At $9.99 it better be.", I thought to myself. I drove away. The sandwich was awful. We stop in here every time we get a craving for baked potatoes, because Rax is 50 miles away. I give them a specific list of orders for the family, and invariably someone gets it wrong. This time, the screwups are twofold: we received one sub when all 4 were supposed to be potatoes, and second, the veggie potato had next to nothing in it when everything was supposed to be doubled. This was my first visit to a Steak Escape. My son had the Bourbon and Bacon sandwich and I had the Great Escape Fry. My portion of food was huge; for me it provided two meals. However, I don't recall that it had any Provolone cheese, so I had to add a lot of extras to the bowl when I got home: sour cream, feta cheese, and I would have included green onions had I remembered they were in the fridge. That would have been good.... I'm not sure about coming back because I went through the drive through and the air smelled bad during my entire wait time. So very dirty. Finger prints all over the front entry. Every table needed a wipe down including the one we ended up eating at. There was a random computer chair out on the dining floor at a table... Heavy dust on all the hvac vents and light fixtures. Hopefully they don't hire someone to have their floors cleaned professionally because there was a 2 inch dirt line around the entire perimeter of the store. I work in facilities and that would be a call back at no charge to correct. No ketchup pump but instead a bowl of sticking-together ketchup packets, gross. The service was fine, but it's weird that they don't give you a number or take a name for your order. Instead they just call out whatever you ordered. Hopefully someone doesn't order what you did ! Not good operational practice IMO. The food was just okay. I liked the flavor of my black and blue sub, my gf did not like her sub so that was unfortunate. Both of us agree the lack of the meat in the sub was also disappointing. Extra disappointing when you figure the price factor too. Next time, will pass on this place! read more

Ended up with a sriracha beef bowl, in a combo which adds drink and a side (I got a salad.) The bowl was decent. I expected rice or something as a base, but it was just veggies and beef. But, plenty of each, and a nice mix of flavors and textures. Not very hot, just a slight, building sriracha burn. The salad was just greens. Good greens, but nothing else, and not very big (but then it is a side...) And no dressing; luckily, we were taking it home so I added some there. A little disappointed there wasn't more to the salad; I don't remember how much the combo adds, but if the salad portion was more than 50 cents I feel cheated. Overall, not bad, but I'll get a sandwich next time. Price was pretty high for what we got, too. They are currently remodeling, so we just went through the drivethrough; don't know how crazy the inside is. read more

First, Steak Escape was my second job way back in the day while I was in college. I've always appreciated the culture and delicious food. However, things have definitely changed in this organization over 25 years. The food has never been the problem with this particular location... the customer service, cleanliness and lack of a sense of urgency are HUGE problems. If you go through the drive thru be prepared to wait a minimum of 20 minutes. Customer service is beyond sub par. Not a single employee seems to want to be there. Plus, it must be quite a chore for the staff to have to pick up a spray bottle, a dish towel and attempt to clean any surface inside the store. My biggest gripe is the lack of a sense of urgency... YOU'RE A FAST FOOD CHAIN!!! When there's a line inside, outside and there's a lunch rush... try talking less and making more than one sandwich at a time... there's a reason the flat top is so big, USE IT!!! Unfortunately, I will never go back to this location. I blame all of these issues on the owner of the franchise, the absolutely atrocious management and whoever hired these lack luster employees to represent this company. The fries were soggy and not well salted. I requested seasoned salt for the fries, which was confirmed during my order but wasn't added. When I pulled around to the window, I waited for about 8 minutes without anyone saying anything. While I understand that this is a difficult time, there was no one in line in front of me and I could see multiple employees through the window. Superb! I had the Barnyard BBQ cheesesteak and strawberry lemonade, my brother had the Grand Escape cheesesteak and lemonade; we shared the Homemade Gravy Fries. The lemonades had a delicious, lemon-pulpy flavor to them. I don't usually finish my drinks, but this one was half gone before the food came out. I never knew I needed gravy fries in my life before this. And the sandwiches, as well as being huge, were super-tasty. I am amending my review. I sent an email to the corporate office and got a quick reply, and they were very concerned and apologetic. I think I will go back and try again. The only reason for 3 stars is they seem to mess up my order every time. Dairy sensitivity so I always order with no cheese. They add cheese and then have remake my sandwich every time. Steak Escape is located in the same shopping plaza as Roush Hardware. It appears to be in a relatively new building but the back door is really the front door if you know what I mean. I visited their web sit before I came bit it was less than useful. It listed neither the sizes of the sandwiches nor the prices. But I came up anyway and I'm glad I did. I ordered the small size of their regular sandwich and that was fine. Along with that I got an order of fries and those were good but they were all piled into a container that was too small to hold them. In any event the sandwich was great and the fries tasted okay. But a couple of negatives: An employee who turned out to be the store manager went out for a smoke break in the drive in front of the restaurant. This looked like hell! The stores windows hadn't been washed in months, or thats how dirty they were. They put these tiny little cups out for ketchup. I had to use four of them to even make a dent in it. After finding steak escape in Hilliard, I was excited to also find it in Westerville after I moved. What an insane disappointment I was in for. After trying many times I've been left disappointed every single time. Wrong orders, rude employees, and terrible practices in general. This last, and final, time I placed an online order, and when I arrived I was forced to wait in the drive through line for over 20 minutes, well after the estimated completion time. To top it all off I still had to sit at the window for 5 minutes while they scrambled still not having my order complete. Unless you feel like waiting for 30+ min for your food which will likely be cold, wrong, or both, steer clear.
