The kitchen struggle to serve fresh hot that showed up at the table hot fresh, paid a pretty penny for cold baked potatoes and hard carrots. Suggestion to reduce the menu to what the cooks not chefs can accomplish or add a chef to the kitchen crew. Who ever made the menu didn't realized what it would take from preparing, start, finish dish. The waitress did everything to make it a nice evening , it wasn't the first time this happen, she kept apologizing, I can understand her aggravation in the cooks and the quality of the food, she replaced cold food. We ordered takeout from here on a Wednesday evening at 4 when they reopen for dinner (they are open from 11-2pm and 4 - 9pm). The hostess who took our order was pleasant, and the employees we interacted with while waiting for our order were very nice and sociable. Food was ready in roughly the 20 minutes they predicted, so all-in-service was pleasant and prompt. We ordered the Cajun chicken & shrimp pasta (which my wife really enjoyed), the Mozz appetizer (which we both thought was awesome), and the American Bison (which I thought had a great flavor (and definitely recommend), although I ordered it medium-well and it was cooked well-done. I definitely recommend ordering it at a lower temp to maximize the flavor profile. Being a visitor on vacation, I never ate here before and in my experience, getting a steak actually cooked medium is not a given. So I err on the side of caution with unknown restaurants, which worked against me in this case.) I also ordered Brussel sprouts but didn't receive them with my order. First time dining here and S&S did not disappoint in any aspect. Excellent food and service along with a casual atmosphere. They have a nice selection of bourbons at good prices on each pour as well as some very crafty house made cocktails. Our food was excellent...I should note we were part of a large group, all ordering steaks and all were well seasoned and cooked perfectly to order....highly recommend topping them with chefs butter!! They serve lunch from 11 am to 2:00 pm Central time which is noon 'till 3:00 our time. That late lunch for us works well for us for health reasons. They offer a very reasonable price of $11.99 for 9 choices that include a one side. Last time I got fried catfish and Karen got cod, both very good. This time we both ordered a baked fettuccine with chicken and cheese sauce that came in a personal size cast iron skillet. It was sooo delicious! We also got a side salad and roll. All the food came out at different times, my wife's pizza wasn't even what she ordered, and my dish never showed up at all. I honestly felt bad for our server, she kept apologizing, but the problems were clearly not her fault. Drinks took far longer than they should have, and the whole experience was extremely frustrating. A business at this stage shouldn't still be struggling with basic service. Overall, still the nicest restaurant in town. However, if I am going to pay $30 for a steak, the least the chef could do would be to season it on both sides before cooking it. They did not. Also, with a natural gas grill, most of the external flavor was from the gas. The internal temperature was spot on. One of our party of 5 ordered a ribeye, so one can expect a bit of fat. However, there was so much gristle that she could barely cut it or find any edible pieces. The waitress did offer to replace it, but our diner declined, as she was nearly full from the salad and asparagus. The waitress gave us a free dessert to compensate, but we did pay full menu price for that meal. My salad was just iceberg with a little radicchio for color, which is pretty low end lettuce for a nice restaurant. My Brussels sprouts were allegedly cooked with Balsamic glaze and parmigiana, but neither one was very obvious. Lastly, we were in the front room with two other tables of diners. It was so loud, we could not hear each other across the table. This was made worse by the fact that two of us wear hearing aids and we still couldn't hear each other. Looking around the room, there are nothing but hard, sound-reflecting surfaces, with no cloth or other material to absorb the sound. One of the tables had four children, and their moms were talking soooo loudly to be heard over the kids. The noise level was deafening throughout the meal. If I go back, I will know to not expect so much from a meal that cost over $200. read more

The place is very quaint. They seated us promptly and brought us bread while we ordered drinks. I ordered a glass of wine and water and my husband ordered a soft drink. We got the water and soft drink fairly quick, then our server took our order. I ordered the filet with blue cheese along with garlic and herb mashed potatoes and asparagus, my husband ordered the New York strip, loaded baked potato and side salad. I had to ask for my wine after our server came back near our table. We got our entrees fairly quick. But my husband never got his salad. My husband and I visited for our anniversary. Nice atmosphere, old building with exposed brick. Great service! Our waitress went above and beyond even asked if we were celebrating an occasion and offered us complimentary dessert. The "mozz" appetizer was delicious and the ribeye steaks were great! I also liked the s&s salad with their house dressing. We stayed in the Alexander Hotel just above the restaurant for the night! Highly recommend it also! Went back for lunch the next day. The restaurant has a front dining room and another in the rear where the bar is located. We requested table seating so we were seated in the rear bar dining area, which was fine. Our server was a young lady who was also the bartender for the evening. She was outstanding. Timely service, answered our questions, and overall just did a really good job of taking care of us. The food: Wife and I ordered filets, our friend had a ribeye. The steaks were correctly cooked and were very good, but not quite what you might get at Jeff Ruby's or Malones. For Leitchfield, they were pretty good. Sides were very good, as were the hot rolls. Only disappointment was the carrot appetizer, which sounded great on the menu but in reality was not what I was expecting. Can not recommend that item. All in all, a good experience. I was really excited to try this place out. We heard food ok, service not great and orders were wrong. Well out wait wa long to get in (no problem). Appetizer on pretzel & beer cheese was really good. Salads we not impressive. 2 of 3 steaks were right & really good. Side of Mac & cheese and green beans were not good. Mac & cheese was dry. Green beans were not done. The 3rd steak was a ribeye with blue cheese, it came as a cold sirloin with mushrooms & onions. When sent back it returned as. Sirloin with onions & mushrooms scraped to the side & blue cheese added. Eventually it was corrected & the steak was really good. The green beans had still not yet arrived when we asked & the came, they were super hot but not done unfortunately. We were brought the bacon bourbon pimento cheese and it was really good. Our server and the manager apologized & ending up comping the appetizers & the one steak dinner. It was literally over 3 hours all in. It seemed like a lot of people there working but all a bit lost. They should not schedule everyone at the top of the hour or half hour, no shows make tables sit empty while people wait that are walking in. 2nd, the waitresses need a little training, your appetizers should come out pretty quickly and our waitress took forever to come back for our order. We finished out appetizer way before the food came, there was no bread available, they were out. We were the first ones there when they opened. We were so excited for a high end restaurant in the community. Our first visit I asked for a Prosecco with a splash of cranberry, the bar person or mixologist came to our table and wanted to know if Prosecco was a vodka? We ordered steak medium rare and they were well done. Our second visit, food was not good, their specialty Mac n cheese cold and dry, salmon no flavor. When seating us in the bar area, we had to go through the servers station which was congested and wait for the servers to place their order and carry out food. I will say the servers were professional and very apologetic on our dinners. Also, we went on a day for specials to come and find out were for evening or Sunday all day, I made the comment they need to advertise that on FB. For the price, we will probably not be back. This place is new and it is phenomenal. We were in town for a sales appointment and our contact recommended here as it was new. It did not disappoint. There were 4 of us and not a single person was disappointed. We ordered Fried Mozzarella and Fried Green Tomatoes for apps. The fried mozzarella was unique, three big logs. They were delicious. I don't recommend the maters, they were bland. But the entrees?.....oh man. All 4 were excellent. The Cajun Chicken Pasta was easily the best I have ever eaten. I went light on the sauce so it wasn't swimming like most creamy pasta sauce dishes. It didn't say it was blackened in the description, but it was. And the flavor was superb. I wish I would've ordered one to go. Another person in my party ordered a mid-rare steak. It came mid-well to well and he still said it was the best steak he's had. I'll give the cook a pass this time because it was a thin steak and it's tough to get those temperatures right. The server was friendly and attentive.
