Servers are always friendly and fast paced but are limited to the pace of the kitchen which in my experience is able to crank out the orders even under a consistently high volume of business. The food is average, nothing to write home about, but convenience is key here, especially if you live within 10 miles. Pricing is also average and portions typically will not require a to-go box. The best bang for your buck is the large pizzas which are all good, it's pizza after all! If you're in the area, Buoys is worth a shot but be prepared for a long wait at prime time dinner hours. read more

This place is so much fun! Great view of Lake Nolin with delicious bar food. We had a catfish sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, and a kid's chicken nuggets and fries. The service was above and beyond. Our wait was a little longer than expected due to March madness games and the FOH was kind enough to get a kid's meal for us while we waited for our table. They also had great live music and a fun atmosphere. We'll definitely be back. Thank you for excellent service, food, and kindness. read more

A great find at Nolin Lake. We are staying near the area for the Bourbon & Beyond in Louisville and wanted to find a quick dinner on the lake. The Buoy fits the bill! Incredibly friendly service, good solid food, the Mac and cheese was scrumptious! I had the hot ham and cheese sandwich, it was juicy deliciousness. The food is very lacking. It's probably the worst food I've eaten in a while. If you want frozen out of the bag food, go there. It's like going to a truck stop or when you're on the go. I'm very disappointed and yes this was our first time there. The upgrades are beautiful. Our waitress Honor.... Phenomenal!!!! We enjoyed everything the cod slider, pork sliders, hamburgers, salads, grilled shrimp was ok and The Lake Water was good!! Matt the bartender was our server and he was a pleasure to talk with and very accommodating! The 16 yr old Shayne was a joy to listen to on Friday night! This is actually located in Wax, not Clarkson. It's adjacent to the Wax Marina and Nolin Lake Lodge. Service is usually good but they can be a bit slow getting orders out (I think it's more an issue from the kitchen and they're actively recruiting a cook). This is the place to come for appetizers and a mixed drink. They have 5+ mixed drinks in wells that range from frozen to on the rocks in a number of flavors. The thing I like best is it's not all margaritas. Actually my favorite drink is the 65 South which is a mixture of rum, pina colada and raspberry. If you like fruity cocktail drinks, you won't go wrong by picking here. The appetizers are all pretty good. Most anything fried turns out great, especially onion rings. They have a fried shrimp dinner that's battered and fried perfectly. I'm not crazy about the boneless wings. I've not ordered the pizza but it appears to be a really thin crust and I did see a table send theirs back. The burger was a bit undercooked so I would recommend specifying "well done" unless you enjoy a slight pink center in your burger. I've also been here on Taco Night---again the frozen cocktails is what makes it. The tortilla chips are house made but it's like they used flour tortillas to make them so they're just chewy, overly thick and off. Pair it with the yummy cocktails though and you won't mind them so much. All in all...I do like this place. There is usually entertainment on the weekends like karaoke etc. read more
