I really like this Stater Bros! I had a particularly positive experience the other day when I asked where to find tofu. Heather was so helpful, didn't just direct me but brought me directly to the location and showed me what they had and mentioned how some of them were on sale. When I was ready to leave, I just happened to choose Heather's checkstand since it was empty. She smiled and said "Oh good, I was curious what type you chose" and I told her I was looking forward to using my air fryer. Heather really made my day! I came home and even mentioned my experience to my husband and he agreed about how much he likes the Poway location. It's clean and has a great vibe. And the parking lot has multiple entrances/exits and is a much different experience than most grocery stores. read more

I love this Stater Bros. Have been coming here for many years and some of the staff is like family. Its about time I leave a review! Compared to all the other grocery stores in Poway this one is by far the most pleasant. They are always super helpful when checking out, making sure my phone number is in for the discounts and bagging everything quickly and efficiently. Its always very clean and well taken care of. Some stores make it so hard to use WIC even though its accepted but this Stater Bros has never once gave me trouble, and if there is any issue they go out of there way to fix it without making me feel like its a burden. Very impressed with this stater Brothers! So I came in on my lunch hour looking for some strawberries and by chance there was a young lady named Savannah and the produce section who helped me pick out strawberries and blueberries. She was just the nicest! The strawberries look really good, not smooshy and not priced in this off-season very high which is extremely nice. Great clean store. Everybody kept asking if I need help. Please avoid getting a salad from the deli, My girlfriend and I purchased a grilled chicken cesar salad from the deli on Sunday and today I found a small string of hair inside of my salad (please see picture and zoom in in order to see the hair sitting on top of the lettuce.) This could probably get me sick by tomorrow all because of the deli deciding to put a salad with hair on the shelf for a customer to buy! Seriously Stater Bros. If your employees are going to be working in the deli please have them wear a hair net and if they have facial hair have them wear a hair net on their face as well so that no hair can get in the food! Love Stater Brothers!! They offer quality and good pricing. My husband from Lakeside is from a family that slaughtered their own beef and his mother was a meat wrapper and we will not get our meat from anywhere else because we know quality . All of the employees are awesome and let me give kudos to Chris who helped me with my 20 pound Angus rib roast for Easter. Chris was personable and took the time to answer all my questions. And he went to culinary school, which was totally cool to learn. My guests and my husband said that it was the best rib roast they've ever had. And glad for that because nobody cared that's my scalloped potatoes didn't come out right. Haha! So thank you Stater Brothers for hiring good people. This is my husband and I's go-to spot for meat and I recently discovered they have some pretty good deals on organic vegetables compared to Sprouts. They have a seafood/meat counter where they offer to season the meats for you and it's a good one stop shop for anything needed to prepare for a BBQ/dinner. Located in a shopping center with a movie theater along with some shops and restaurants. Usually the lines are pretty reasonable as well. read more

I really like how clean, neat, and well-stocked this location is. The people are really friendly, and they had FIVE different brands of vegan ice cream with multiple flavors each that I could surprise my dad with for Father's Day! If that isn't well-stocked, I don't know what is! I definitely will come back to this nice location, and not just for ice cream when I am waiting for our lunch pickup order. I've b een coming to the store for a couple of years now and I've had a pretty decent experience. However, today, I witnessed cashier VERONICA belittling her fellow colleague by the name of ELIAS. She was being rude and demeaning to him in the tone of her voice by telling him to switch lanes with her, as she was trying to give another colleague of theirs some time on the original checkstand that she was on. Upon switching lanes, the rotating belt at this checkstand made a strange popping sound that Elias pointed out. She told him "WHAT DID YOU DO??" And to stop fussing with it, and was being extremely rude towards this gentleman. I'm not sure if he had some sort of cognitive delay or not but regardless, she should be more patient with him and not blame him for things that are clearly out of his control. This is an old store and things like that are about to happen. She also was muttering under her breath talking rudely about customers who "can't see the checkstand light is off ". If she is so pressed about things like this, that clearly happen at grocery stores, then she should reconsider her career path. read more

Stater Bros in Poway is a great supermarket when I'm in that part of town. Lots of great deals over the Holliday's I do a fair amount of shopping at this store and the rest at The Ramona Store. A lot better priced than Albertsons. Great produce selection always fresh. Definitely my go to place for groceries. read more

I never had a problem here until last week, almost everyone working that day had a rude attitude, first the lady working the deli didn't want to help me and just pointed at something and said 'over there' and left. Then at the register the person didn't greet me like usual and the bagger lady was so mean, she throw my groceries in the cart several times and I brushed it off, I even said thank you a few times because I thought she didn't hear me then I finally get a 'uh huh' from her. Anyone knows a cake is an important part of any celebration. However, when I came to pick up my order, I discovered it was purposefully changed by the baker. With no time to react to their unfair decision or remake the cake to match the order, I disappointed the guest of honor and felt terrible! Evidently, the order I had paid for three days prior was undercharged. Rather than absorbing THEIR error, or calling me to give options, Stater Bros simply made what they wanted to match the price I paid. (Read PLAIN cake.) (As I understand it, CDFA law requires grocery stores to uphold price errors, which in this case qualifies as "quoted price." So, doubly bad on their part.) Stater Brothers saved $11.99 on their decision. They also lost me, a long-time customer because I do not trust that my special celebration dessert will match what I ordered! read more

For nearly 30 years, we've been doing our main grocery shopping at Stater Brothers in Poway--a group of ladies in our 70s who have loyally supported this store. Today, on All Saints Day, we experienced such disrespect that it left us heartbroken. We chose a bouquet of flowers to bring to our mother's grave, assuming they were included in the advertised 50% off floral sale. When we found out they weren't discounted, we still purchased them out of respect for the occasion. Unfortunately, for a simple $6.50 difference on a $12.99 bouquet, the cashier was rude, and the manager showed no empathy. Instead of treating us with kindness, he told us to "get out of the store." We left feeling deeply hurt and disappointed after decades of loyalty. We hope leadership sees this and reminds the Poway staff about the importance of treating customers with respect and humanity. read more

Stater's did alright for me on this visit. Other than not having a chip reading, it was a good visit with finding the 24 packs of water I needed for $2.99 plus tax and CRV, a couple of avocados for .69 each, and some Special K cereal for $1.88 each but I had to buy three to get that price. I wish they would not do that. Everything was easy to find and the store was well organized except for the produce department which needed some TLC. I think they must of gotten hammered earlier. They usually have the 24 packs of water near the doors when they have them on sale, but not this time around. It was not a big deal given it was on my way to pick the Special K. Oh yes, I also picked up some Mission Rounds Tortilla Chips for $1.99, a 20 oz bag, which was a pretty good deal. They lady at the register was a hoot. As usual, I was a smart ass and she not only took it, but dished it back. I like that kind of customer service! A good sense of humor that is. read more

Deli Sandwich review. With more and more sandwich places biting the dust, I thought I'd try out the Deli at Stater Brothers. I've enjoyed the sandwiches at Henry's and Jimbos so I was hopeful of something halfway decent. Well, the sandwiches are okay. They do have both hot (panini) and cold to chose from. I rolled the dice and picked the Ham and Gruyere cheese panini. The sandwich had the blandest Gruyere I've ever tasted. What really put me off was the total lack of enthusiasm of the server. I could tell the server was put upon having to make my panini. She was sooo slow and just handed it over to me without a smile or a have a nice day. VONS does that. This review is for the deli: The young man working there was neither rude, nor welcoming. I had to say "excuse me...do I ask you for help, or someone else if you're busy?" because he had his back turned the entire time. He was just kind of...there. Simply existing in this universe, uninterested, gloomy and distant. Much like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. I'm pretty sure that's his spirit animal. I needed lunch and figured their deli would fit the bill. NOT. When you see that a crab cake is only $1.99, albeit a bit hefty in size, keep on walking. Against my better judgement, I bought 2 of them, hoping it would be delicious. It was not. Obviously it was surimi "crab", hence the bargain basement price, but it was so full of fillers and was utterly dry I almost choked on it. The tamale was equally dry so I picked out the pork and ate the middle. They should just sell the pork, minus the masa. What a disappointing meal. But I digress. I gave an extra star because the cashiers were super nice. Way nicer than the cashiers in the PQ location which I only frequent because I buy their coconut water when I workout at the neighboring 24 HF. The store itself was well stocked but a bit pricier than your average grocery store. Parking is ample too. Will I come back? Definitely not to the deli side!! read more

I like shopping Stater Brothers. It's clean, well lit, well organized, well stocked. The produce is consistently plentiful and high quality. Nicholas has always been most helpful in that department. One suggestion I would like to make is that there is entirely way too much conversation going on between employees. Especially the courtesy clerks who bag the groceries. They discuss a wide range of topics such as movies, video games, partying, breaks, shifts, when the got there, when they're leaving, how long they have or have had to work, more partying, hie much they hate working at Stater Brothers. It's inappropriate and completely unprofessional and I feel so uncomfortable hearing these convos. I'm not eavesdropping, they're saying this at the checkout while I'm standing there. Where am I supposed to go to get away from it? When they get carts from the parking lot they usually do it with their phones in their hands. And they're super rude too. They need more training and better supervision. I've addressed it with the manager but there is never any improvement. Oh well, I think I'm too old school and need to just accept that Stater Brothers knows customers are going to come in regardless so why should they bother expecting their employees to deliver basic courtesy. read more
