I've been coming to this Bevmo for years. I now live two minutes away. While I don't drink alcohol myself, I usually come here for alcohol gifts for my friends or when we have a party and I need to make an alchy run. The staff here is excellent! I recently called the store to ask if they carried a particular beer. I spoke with a really friendly young man, Christian, who went to confirm for me. I was at the store a little later and asked where I could find this beer he asked if I was the one who called a little while ago and I said yes so he took me directly to the location and loaded the beer into my cart for me! I've grown up with BevMo! Although not this location... my dad used to bring to our local BevMo and he'd let me pick out weird sodas to try. Sour soda being one of my favorites that made me kinda sick every time I drank it... Anyway, let's just say I'm pretty brand loyal and used to the BevMo set up. This store has super helpful employees who go the extra mile to help you. They almost look a little down when you tell them you don't need help with anything. I love when I'm lucky enough to get their mystery beer boxes. They are so fun! You don't know what you're going to get and something about that just makes me happy. I guess I get the thrill AND the beer! Yay! Even if sometimes the beer isn't what I would have picked out it's still good for the drinking! Absolutely incompetent employees working the night shift on a Wednesday. Went to pick up my online order and the heavyset older woman could not figure out how to enter my driver license in order to pick up the order. This process should have taken about 30 seconds and she managed to stretch it out for 30 minutes. After all that, they had picked the incorrect bottle. Then I had to wait to get a refund. Kudos to the staff here at BevMo! Came in a bought a few drinks for my friend's 40th birthday. When your local grocer doesn't have what you are looking for, BevMo for sure will have it. The place is organized and clean. The parking lot is a bit of a pain as it shares with several stores but it I manageable. Shot out to the associate who helped me out in a bind. His name started with a J... I'm thinking Jerel or something close to it. He was efficient and helped get the lines moving along. BevMo, like so many businesses these days, seems to have lost its way. It used to be my go-to store for craft beer in particular. Although they still have a decent selection, there is no longer any compelling reason for me to go there. First of all, the prices! Anywhere from $3-4 higher on a six pack that typically retails for $11 or $12, so closer to 30% or 40% higher. Second, the service. Not only are there just one or two helpers running around the store, they don't seem to be nearly as knowledgeable or insightful as before. Third, they used to have a lot of their craft beers refrigerated. Now, they save their refrigerated area for mass-selling party beers such as Coors and Corona. I guess they needed to make room for all of the non-beverage related items such as toothpaste (yes, toothpaste) since they're trying to be a quasi-convenience store now. Which brings me to my fourth point -- they obviously still carry a lot of beer, wine, and spirits, and I have no way of saying how much they might have trimmed of what to make room for all the grocery store stuff, but for instance, on the wine, they had one brand of Barolo! One. Compared to a store just up the street from this BevMo, not mentioning any names, but they have a total wine selection that absolutely dwarfs BevMo, and again at much better prices. Easily over 20 Barolos to pick from, since they're not stocking toothpaste. So, in summary, I guess the marketing geniuses at BevMo know way better than I who their market is and what stores they're competing against. I generally go to a grocery store, big box store, or pharmacy for many of the items that BevMo now stocks, and if I'm looking for beer, wine, or spirits, there's way better options just around the corner. I had a great visit to this BevMo looking for so Malbec wine from Argentina. After finding the aisle, I was pleasantly surprised when I found a great selection to choose from, and to top things off, they were having their famous .05 cents sell. There were several Malbec wines I wanted to take home with me, but in the end I settled for the Valentin Malbec, not only for its smooth and supple flavor, but its great price of $12 per bottle, plus one more for .05. Mr. W introduced me to BevMo - boy was I excited and happy. Back in NY I hardly ever drank. Honestly. After moving here, I started to like drinking a lot more - though not enough to be a alcoholic. I like drinking every once but not every day. Walking in, I felt like I was in the Trader Joe's of alcohol stores. Everything was lined up nicely and labeled. Walking in there were check outs on your right and then your display of alcohol almost like a panorama. I did not need any help with asking for specifics of wine/alcohol I was purchasing as Mr. W was basically my guide around. Pretty easy to go in, pick out what you want and then check out! If you have the Bev Club membership you could just say your phone number or sign up for it. No problems with parking, there's quite a lot - though I have only dropped by here in the evenings. Did order pick up for 4 items. Arrived and was handed the items, with no bag. Do they not bag up your items you order during all of this? The person that gave me my order was not very personable either, especially when it looked like I was struggling with it. In the end I ended up breaking one of the items, on the way to the car since it was only me. If this is the practice for order pick up I think I will pass next time read more

Gosh I haven't stepped foot in a BevMo in years. I didn't think they had a competing chance with grocery stores now carrying local craft beers and also carrying a considerable inventory of wines as well. Heck, Costco down the street also has an extensive beer, wine, hard alcohol inventory as well. We stopped by over the weekend after breakfast at the Broken Yolk (terrible breakfast BTW). I've seen this location for many many years but totally forgot what they had. It's a large grand location and the layout is fun. You definitely could lose yourself for a good 30 min wandering the many aisles of booze. Few notes: - they have a large selection of local craft beers but the prices aren't competitive. For example, a 22oz of Ballast Point Scuplin sells for $9.99 here (vs $5.60 at Vons if on sale and you buy a 6 pack) - they sell cigars here! Quite a few of them too. I didn't remember that from way back when. - I found a few interesting mmmm-hmmm beers (hello Sriracha Hot Stout Beer - see pic) - They carry a beer (Hercules Double IPA) that one of my best friend loves. It's actually .50c cheaper there at BevMo than at another liquor store (hence why I bought one that day for friend) - their BevMo club membership is free so I think you can search the store for club members only discounts - they sell cheese/salami/etc too for their wines! - they have Tasting days that appear to be free so that would be fun to try. I think that afternoon they were offering samples of Ballast Point Dorado Check out was easy and the cashier was super friendly. I'd definitely come back to research more of their inventory and perhaps try out their tasting days. read more

MAJOR ULTRA PROPS TO drink masters Michael and Jemil. You guys need to give these guys all the recognition ever. My fiancé and I were so stressed over everything about our upcoming wedding, and these guys made purchasing drinks for the event SUPREMELY EASY. They had very good drink recommendations and saved us lots of money. We left the store with big smiles. They sorted everything for us, and it was obvious that this wasn't their first rodeo. The staff at this location over the years has always been stellar. The store is always well-sorted, well-stocked, with a supremely knowledgeable staff. These two seamlessly helped others while helping us all at the same time multitasking and doing all that so smoothly. I've worked retail many years ago and can't even imagine how they are that smooth in answering everyone's questions and helping us at the same time. I just hope that all the staff gets the recognition they deserve; especially Michael and Jemil. 10/09/2020 Evening Crew: My husband and I decided to take a weekend getaway up to Rancho Bernardo. I'm from San Diego & decided I'd like to see what type of Vibes were up North for the weekend. I usually spend time in Carlsbad, Del Mar & La Jolla but the Universe sent us near Caramel Mountain for our weekend escape. In life we must learn to take the good with the bad & let me tell ya... this was an all around BAD experience from the moment we approached the entrance of the store. My 6th sense told me that the curly haired blue eyed blonde lady eyeing my husband & I up and down as we walked in, was looking for trouble. But I kept my vibrations high and proceeded to find the drinks we came out of our way to purchase. My husband and I began to converse, laugh and smile as we normally do & I began to feel some tense energy around us. We walk toward the back right hand side of the store to find my favorite champagne & again the curly blonde hair blue eyed lady was staring at us as if there was a problem. Talk about POOR customer service. Then... a tall white guy with ginger features begins to follow and pace around me and my husband. I wanted to ask him "are you following us?" But again, I am a Queen and I try my best to not engage in NON SENSE. Then then tall Ginger featured man approached me and made a comment about my mask "I like your mask, cool mask." I'm thinking, gee thanks??? So cool, now please let my husband and I shop in peace. But No that wasn't the case at all. He is still pacing around us looking like he has seen a ghost. I'm think what is this mans issue ? Dear God help us. Then the man asks "so what is your mask made out of?" Mind you, my mask is a breathable mask with crystals all over it. So I'm thinking two things, this man wants to buy a mask for his lady that looks like mine or this man wants to buy a mask for himself that looks like mine. My husband notices that the man is holding a blue face mask in his hand as if I was going to put it on in the store. That was HILARIOUS! Dude, if the mask didn't fit your liking then SAY SO! Don't be afraid of a Powerful Black couple. I felt like this was racial profiling at its finest. It's a shame that I wasn't able to purchase beer and wine in PEACE. Of course I love Bevmo! When need of alcohol replenishment, BevMo is the go-to place. I was in the area and needed some Christmas gifts so I stopped into this location out of convenience. This location is a little different from the other locations I've been to. It's a little more Trader Joe type of ambiance. Totally reminds me of Trader Joes as I was walking through the aisles. I did notice there was a lot of employees wondering around for a weeknight, but when it came for me to ask a question on the Cabs, there was no one to be found. I took a shot in the dark given the helpful notes on the labels. I approached the cashier and asked if he had had this particular Cab I was purchasing and he said no and asked if I had asked anyone on the floor. I said no since there was no one around. I was in a rush so I didn't bother to wait around for another employee to come up for his feedback. I got my liquor and I was off! They have really good deals when you sign up for the Bev Club and usually they have some type of 5 cent sale going on. I have always been a fan of Bevmo! They have tons of imported beers! I try to try something different every once in awhile and they usually stock what I'm looking for. My only complaint is that I wish they had more fridges for the beers! Because they only have limited options of cold beer. It's nice to go to the store and pick up some beer that's cold already, but most of the time,the beers that I choose, I have to go home and put it in the fridge before I can drink it. Other than that, I can say that they are really organized here. It's easy to find what you are looking for. CHECK I.D. AT THE DOOR BEFORE ENTRY!!! If I could give this place 0 stars I would! You don't treat a paying customer with disrespect no matter what. BevMo has a serious issue with I.d.ing their customers. I spent over 25 min looking for new imports to buy when I finally did and it came time to pay I was told to have my i.d. scanned! My girlfriend and cousin were with my at the time as well. He asked for my cousins i.d. he showed it and was also scanned! My girlfriend doesn't have her I.d. yet so bc of this we were unable to purchase. It's not the law and it's not against the law to scan but sometimes without knowing scans can provide very personal information, including social security info! Besides not being able to pay I felt like it was a huge waste of my time walking around for nearly half an hour just to get to the front to be told I can't purchase because one person in my party didn't have their i.d. After arguing with the kid employee and speaking my mind very sternly I spoke to the manager to see why we all had to be carded. She explained it to us and for obvious reasons you can imagine why. I argued that their are parents that let their kids drink and could easily let them run around and point out what they want for their parents to buy for them. You don't check a child's I.d. So it's the perfect cover up. Anyone can do that if they look older than the people their with?? It makes no sense. I'm 21 but if I walked in with my 12 year old brother and let's say hypothetically I let him drink, I could let him pick what he wants and I could buy it for him easy. It's a flawed system. I was buying German import beer and brandy for myself. If it was for a party or for minors you wouldn't be seeing a fat bottle of brandy and German pilsner. You'd see white claws, truly, and cheap vodka or tequila. I'm a connoisseur of imports and this experience made me never want to walk into a BevMo again. Although I did go to another establishment right after being denied, same situation but this time in my hometown of Escondido CA and guess what? I was the only one carded and I bought the same stuff with the same people. Total bullocks! BevMo can't stay consistent. The whole time at the second BevMo I was just waiting for the cashier to ask for my cousins and girlfriends i.d. But he didn't. He onto asked for mine since I was paying and we left no problem. The manager at the first BevMo in Carmel valley said," we are all trained to check everyone's I.d. that walks through this door unless it's a parent and child for obvious reasons." It's all bullshit. Carmel valley BevMo is in a white neighborhood and the other BevMo where I had no problem at all getting the same exact things with the same exact people I had been with is in Escondido California predominately Mexican, black, native and white. I am African American, my girlfriend is latina and my cousin is white. BEVMO CARMEL VALLEY IS DISCRIMINATORY. BEVMO AS A WHOLE CORPORATION NEEDS TO CHECK I.D. AT THE DOOR TO STOP PARENTS OR EVEN OF AGE KIDS TRYING TO BUY FOR MINORS. I can just think of 1,000 different ways to cheat their system but walking in with a friend to case the joint for what they want you to buy is old school, outdated and doesn't work anymore. I don't even have friends that are that stupid they'd tried casing a BevMo for what they want. Theirs liquor stores around, BevMo isn't the only play for Alcohol. BevMo also has an online menu! So even if we were to do something like that I'd have my friend go on the website and look up what they want and I'd go in myself and get it. Thanks for making feel stupid BevMo. Beverages and More really can be the best place to find all of your liquor needs. I've been going to this chain ever since they first showed up on the West Coast and they generally have pretty decent prices. Most of all though, you can find pretty much any type of liquor or wine. The selection is good. I'm giving this location 3 stars because it is definitely smaller than other ones I've been to and they don't have the free cheese samples. read more
